Generalmente las películas animadas, por alguna extraña razón, no llaman la atención de las personas ya que y esto es una suposición mía, las asocian con historias y temas infantiles los cuales no pueden ser disfrutados por todos; no hay nada más tonto que pensar de esa manera. Y esto lo digo porque estamos en un año en donde films como el de Mario Bros y el Spider-Verse han sido un éxito rotundo de taquilla y de aceptación. El caso es que Nimona llega a Netflix después de haber sido descartada por Disney para convertirse en una más de las grandes películas animadas de este 2023 y esto lo corroboré después de haber leído unas cuantas reseñas que hablaban cosas muy buenas de esta historia.

Generally animated movies, for some strange reason, do not catch people's attention because, and this is just my guess, they associate them with children's stories and themes which cannot be enjoyed by everyone; there is nothing dumber than thinking that way. And I say this because we are in a year where films like Mario Bros and Spider-Verse have been a resounding success at the box office and in terms of acceptance. The thing is that Nimona comes to Netflix after being discarded by Disney to become one more of the great animated films of this 2023 and this I corroborated after reading a few reviews that spoke very good things about this story.

Nimona es una historia con una carga social importante, así lo vi yo, ya que siento que es un reflejo del como somos realmente los humanos como personas tanto para bien como para mal, podemos ser seres muy receptivos y empáticos pero también podemos ser verdaderos monstruos. Rápidamente les puedo decir que es una trama de justicia, de buscar la verdad y de aceptación por quien se es. Cuenta con una excelente animación y sobre todo con un buen casting de voces por lo que es sumamente recomendable que la vean en idioma original, no entiendo a esa gente que ve películas dobladas pero bueno ese es otro tema. Sin más hablemos entonces de que va esto nuevo de Netflix.

Nimona is a story with an important social charge, that's how I saw it, as I feel it is a reflection of how we humans really are as people, both for better and for worse, we can be very receptive and empathetic beings but we can also be real monsters. I can quickly tell you that it is a plot of justice, of seeking the truth and acceptance for who you are. It has an excellent animation and above all with a good casting of voices so it is highly recommended that you see it in the original language, I do not understand those people who watch dubbed movies but that's another topic. Nimona (Chloë Grace Moretz) es una joven adolescente la cual tiene unas ansias muy grandes por generar caos, desorden, peleas y conflicto pero que esto no te engañe porque además de todo eso es alguien muy audaz, inteligente y sincera. En busca de nuevas aventuras ella decide unirse a Ballister Boldheart (Riz Ahmed) un caballero que fue incriminado de un asesinato que no cometió por lo que terminó siendo un perseguido del reino lo que lo llevó a esconderse y a estar prófugo de la justicia. El motivo de esta alianza no es otro que el de buscar limpiar el nombre de este caballero. Juntos comenzarán un camino de redención que los llevará a enfrentarse al descontento de todo un pueblo y a la desconfianza de todos los demás caballeros.

The reason for this alliance is none other than to seek to clear the name of this knight. Together they will begin a path of redemption that will lead them to face the discontent of an entire people and the distrust of all the other knights.

Lo interesante de todo es que estamos como en una especie de futuro distópico, una mezcla entre caballeros con armaduras y espadas pero a la vez rodeados de carros voladores y edificios futuristas, todo muy tecnológico la verdad. Entonces, que se ve en esta historia? - pues como una especie de persecución para dar con los verdaderos culpables y con la mente que estuvo y está detrás de todo el complot para incriminar a Ballister. Muy sinceramente la película me pareció bastante entretenida, nunca la noté con un peso infantil que hiciera que en algún momento no quisiera seguir viéndola, por el contrario, conforme iban transcurriendo los minutos más cool se iba poniendo.

The interesting thing is that we are in a kind of dystopian future, a mixture of knights with armor and swords but at the same time surrounded by flying cars and futuristic buildings, all very technological indeed. So, what do you see in this story? - Well, as a kind of chase to find the real culprits and the mind that was and is behind the whole plot to incriminate Ballister. Quite honestly, I found the movie quite entertaining, I never noticed it with a childish weight that made me not want to continue watching it at some point, on the contrary, as the minutes went by, it became cooler and cooler.

Al principio dije que la historia tenía cierta carga social y el como terminan siendo realmente las personas. Hay que aclarar que dentro de los personajes hay una relación homosexual, ya muchos pensarán que es una inclusión forzada pero la verdad es que no lo es o por lo menos así lo percibí. Esto es importante para el desarrollo de la trama? - un poco ya que da algo de contexto a la hora de como se van desarrollando las interacciones y de como es el actuar de algunos personajes con respecto a la confianza y al cariño que hay de por medio. Es una enseñanza de que muchas veces podemos llegar a tener un velo frente a nuestros ojos y que por agentes externos podemos decidir no quitárnoslos y seguir a ciegas.

This is important for the development of the plot? - A little because it gives some context to how the interactions develop and how some characters act with respect to the trust and affection that is involved. It is a teaching that many times we can have a veil in front of our eyes and that due to external agents we can decide not to take them off and continue blindly.

Es en ese punto en donde entra el tema del como son verdaderamente las personas o como deciden ser. Más allá del tema de esta relación también vemos el típico estigma que tienen ciertas personas de rechazar todo aquello que es diferente, también es verdad que no se puede obligar a nadie a que les guste o estén de acuerdo con algo pero una cosa es no comulgar con algo y otra es ser una basura de ser, que a ver, lo vemos día a día en las redes sociales. Nimona es una joven con poderes, ella cambia de formas y esto lo único que le ha traído son problemas precisamente por la poca aceptación de las personas. Y es aquí donde digo y aplica muy bien: las personas le tienen miedo a aquello que no entienden o desconocen.

De las mejores cosas es la animación, diría que está para competir por un Oscar, el tema es que tiene por delante grandes competencias lo cual dificulta un poco las aspiraciones pero si, esto es su punto fuerte. Todo es fluido, se ve perfecto, es vistoso a la vista, es amigable, de verdad no le veo ninguna debilidad. Otra cosa que les puedo comentar es que la historia no es cursi ni empalagosa, no van a sentir que están viendo una novela o una historia para niños. Es una trama sensible, enérgica, tiene sus pinceladas cómica, deja un bonito mensaje y si, hay mucha acción. Créanme cuando les digo que este film es muy disfrutable.

One of the best things is the animation, I would say that it is to compete for an Oscar, the issue is that it has big competitions ahead which makes it a little difficult to aspire, but yes, this is its strong point. Everything is fluid, it looks perfect, it's eye-catching, it's friendly, I really don't see any weakness. Another thing I can tell you is that the story is not cheesy or cloying, you will not feel that you are watching a novel or a story for children. It is a sensitive, energetic plot, it has its comic touches, it leaves a nice message and yes, there is a lot of action. Believe me when I tell you that this film is very enjoyable.

Al verla en idioma original se darán cuenta del excelente trabajo que hace Chloë con Nimona, el doblaje siento que es muy complicado y no es para todos pero ella lo borda de una manera brutal. Es tener la capacidad de captar todos los sentimientos, emociones, rasgos y mañas del personaje para plasmarlas en la voz. En realidad todos los doblajes están a la altura, el trabajo de Riz y el de Eugene Lee Yang que hace de Ambrosius Goldenloin, el caballero amigo y pareja de Ballister, es de mucha calidad. Todos los personajes tienen una sensibilidad muy marcada y característica, esto es importante y vital para el buen desarrollo de la historia.

When you watch it in the original language you will realize the excellent work that Chloë does with Nimona, I feel that dubbing is very complicated and is not for everyone but she embroiders it in a brutal way. It is to have the ability to capture all the feelings, emotions, traits and tricks of the character to capture them in the voice. Actually all the voiceovers are up to par, Riz's work and that of Eugene Lee Yang who plays Ambrosius Goldenloin, Ballister's gentleman friend and partner, is of very high quality. All the characters have a very marked and characteristic sensibility, this is important and vital for the good development of the story.

Le doy un 8.5/10. Es de las mejores películas animadas que he visto este año y en mucho tiempo. Buenas animaciones, buenos personajes, el doblaje es top, cero aburrida y al final el mensaje es muy especial y sincero. Tiene una duracion de un poco más de hora y media y la pueden ver, como ya saben, en Netflix. Les dejo el tráiler por acá.

Good animations, good characters, the dubbing is top, zero boring and at the end the message is very special and sincere.
