Bueno estimados por acá seguimos haciendo reseñas de esas series que considero son bastante buenas y de las que creo merecen ser vistas por todos aquellos amantes de la televisión en general. Recuerdo haberme topado con esta producción cuando estaba buscando algo que ver y con solo leer un poco la sinopsis supe que me podía gustar y aquí estamos, hablando de ella.
Well, dear friends, here we continue doing reviews of those series that I consider to be quite good and that I think deserve to be seen by all those television lovers in general. I remember coming across this production when I was looking for something to watch and just by reading the synopsis I knew I could like it and here we are, talking about it.
Warrior es una serie netamente de combates cuerpo a cuerpo pero que también tiene una trama o trasfondo muy interesante porque habla de una situación que ciertamente vivió los Estados Unidos hace un tiempo atrás, la llegada de muchos inmigrantes en este caso chinos buscando una mejor vida. De ahí en adelante comienza la historia de este joven asiático por hacerse un nombre y ser respetado. Vamos entonces y hablemos un poco.
Warrior is a series purely of hand-to-hand combat but it also has a very interesting plot or background because it talks about a situation that certainly lived the United States some time ago, the arrival of many immigrants in this case Chinese looking for a better life. From that point on, the story of this young Asian man begins as he tries to make a name for himself and be respected. Let's go ahead and talk a little bit.
Lo primero que hay que decir respecto a esta serie es que toda la idea principal y la misma historia está basada en un concepto que alguna vez tuvo el mismo Bruce Lee por allá en los años 70. La serie se llamaría de igual forma y sería una combinación de artes marciales con el ambiente del lejano oeste. Por muchos años estuvo "engavetada" hasta que por fin un estudio quiso darle vida.
The first thing to say about this series is that the whole main idea and the story itself is based on a concept that Bruce Lee himself once had back in the 70s. The series would be called the same way and it would be a combination of martial arts with the atmosphere of the Wild West. For many years it was "shelved" until finally a studio wanted to bring it to life.
Pero entonces, de que trata? - pues como dije es la historia de Ah Sahm, protagonizado por Andrew Koji, un extraordinario peleador de las artes marciales quien por su destreza en el combate termina siendo un miembro más del "Tong" más influyente en San Francisco. Los "Tong" eran organizaciones que estaban conformadas por los mismos chinos que casi siempre estaban mezcladas en todo tipo de actividad criminal.
But then, what is it about? - Well, as I said, it is the story of Ah Sahm, starring Andrew Koji, an extraordinary martial arts fighter who, due to his fighting skills, ends up being a member of the most influential "Tong" in San Francisco. The "Tong" were organizations made up of the same Chinese who were almost always involved in all kinds of criminal activity.
Como decía esta historia está ambientada en el San Francisco de finales del siglo XIX cuando barcos llenos de personas provenientes del continente asiático llegaban a las costas de Estados Unidos lo que eventualmente puso en marcha la creación de todos estos "Tong" con la finalidad de buscar ejercer el control y poder y descubrir cual es el más poderoso hasta el punto que se creó la típica mafia.
As I was saying this story is set in the San Francisco of the late nineteenth century when ships full of people from the Asian continent reached the shores of the United States which eventually set in motion the creation of all these "Tong" in order to seek to exercise control and power and discover which is the most powerful to the point that the typical mafia was created.
Otro de los puntos fuertes de esta serie es el reparto con el que cuenta de grandes actores y actrices. Uno de ellos es Joe Taslim, no se si lo recuerdan pero es el mismo Sub-Zero de la ultima película de Mortal Kombat, tener a este señor es poseer calidad en lo que a pelea y artes marciales se refiere.
Another strong point of this series is the cast of great actors and actresses. One of them is Joe Taslim, I don't know if you remember him but he is the same Sub-Zero from the last Mortal Kombat movie, to have this man is to have quality in terms of fighting and martial arts.
Y si hablamos de Taslim tenemos que hablar de Olivia Cheng, una increíble actriz quien interpreta a "Ah Toy", una trabajadora sexual que en su muy corto tiempo en los Estados Unidos logró amasar grandes cantidades de dinero y tierras pero también es conocida por haber sido la primera mujer asiática en usar las leyes y cortes de USA para proteger su integridad como la de todos sus activos. De los mejores personajes que encontrarán en esta serie, sin ninguna duda.
And if we talk about Taslim we have to talk about Olivia Cheng, an incredible actress who plays "Ah Toy", a sex worker who in her very short time in the United States managed to amass large amounts of money and land but is also known for having been the first Asian woman to use the laws and courts of the USA to protect her integrity as well as all her assets. One of the best characters you will find in this series, without a doubt.
Como tercer aspecto a tomar en cuenta a la hora de ver esta serie son sus creadores. Uno de ellos es nada más y nada menos que Justin Lin, conocido mundialmente por ser el director de muchas de las películas de "Rápido y Furioso". Si algo les puedo decir es que la acción está garantizada a lo largo de toda la serie acompañada con una producción bastante notable a la hora de hacer todas esas secuencias de peleas cual si fueran coreografías.
The third aspect to take into account when watching this series is its creators. One of them is none other than Justin Lin, known worldwide for being the director of many of the "Fast and Furious" movies. If there is one thing I can tell you, it is that action is guaranteed throughout the series accompanied by a quite remarkable production when it comes to making all those fight sequences as if they were choreographies.
Esta es una serie que cuenta con 2 temporadas, de 10 capítulos cada una y en esos 20 episodios los ingredientes principales siempre son todos esos movimientos marciales, la acción que eso genera, mucha sangre pero también una muy buena trama, que en lo personal me sorprendió, la cual no les quiero adelantar para evitar los spoilers.
This is a series that has 2 seasons, of 10 episodes each and in those 20 episodes the main ingredients are always all those martial movements, the action that this generates, a lot of blood but also a very good plot, which personally surprised me, which I do not want to advance to avoid spoilers.
Otro valor agregado es la ambientación y el vestuario que nos muestra acorde lógicamente a la época, finales de los 1800, que la verdad nos teletransporta de una manera muy eficaz a aquellos tiempos de casas de madera, calles polvorientas, luces de velas y carruajes halados por caballos. Warrior es de esas series, al igual que "Godfather of Harlem", que son muy infravaloradas y todo esto se debe a que no están en servicios de streaming conocidos lo que hace que las personas no las conozcan.
Another added value is the setting and the wardrobe that shows us logically to the time, the late 1800s, which really teleports us in a very effective way to those times of wooden houses, dusty streets, candlelight and horse-drawn carriages. Warrior is one of those series, just like "Godfather of Harlem", that are very underrated and all of this is because they are not on well-known streaming services which makes people not know about them.
Por suerte eso va a cambiar con esta serie porque la ya renovada tercera temporada será transmitida por HBO Max pero para el día de hoy desconocemos su fecha de lanzamiento. Por lo pronto les recomiendo ampliamente esta historia, si sus gustos van de la mano con todo lo que les hablé anteriormente. Les dejo el tráiler de la primera temporada para que se animen y le den una oportunidad.
Luckily that is going to change with this series because the already renewed third season will be aired on HBO Max but as of today we don't know its release date. For now I highly recommend this story, if your tastes go hand in hand with everything I told you before. I leave you the trailer of the first season for you to cheer up and give it a chance.
