Her Body (Její telo)

It's time to recommend a Slavic film, specifically from the Czech Republic. I'm interested in it because it's a biography of a woman who was famous in her country for two very different reasons. The second reason for her fame took her to an international level. If you're very young, you probably have no idea who she was, but your father or grandfather surely saw some of her productions, and for some of them, she was a source of fascination.

The name Lea De Mae might not ring a bell, but if you search for her online, you'll find quite a bit of material. But be careful, be discreet, and make sure there are no children around. I had vague memories of that name and the productions I saw on my old VHS tapes. But in this film, we'll discover who this woman was, whose real name was Andrea Absolonová, a promising member of the Czech Republic's swimming team. Her specialty was the Olympic dive.

Some lives seem destined to suffer hard blows, yet they still keep trying with all their might. For me, it all seemed like an unfair punishment. Andrea shone in the Olympic jump; her career as an athlete was assured. From childhood, she received a winning training that instilled in her a competitive spirit. Perhaps that also led her to bravely change her life and be the best at everything she set her mind to.

Being a perfectionist can be a virtue or a flaw. While it drives you to give your best to stand out and gain recognition in any industry, it is also a form of self-imposed pressure that can take a toll physically and mentally, putting your health at risk.

This biographical film not only shows the two sides of this woman, who had to reinvent herself and venture into a world where women are completely stigmatized, especially in an era so different from today. Back then, entering the adult film industry carried significant family rejection. Today, that seems to be no longer the case; every day thousands of women dedicate themselves to it, even encouraged by their families.

Andrea was very beautiful, and the actress who portrayed her is Natalia Germani, also very attractive, who perfectly embodies the sensual aura of the original actress. I've seen other films by this actress and will post about them later. The film respects Andrea's life; it doesn't try to judge her, it simply presents the facts. It's not a film that aspires to revolutionize biographies, but it does ensure that Andrea (or Lea) and everything she had to endure are not forgotten.

The film was the first feature film by Czech filmmaker Natálie Císařovská. By the way, I was surprised that there was a rather intense and explicit scene; I'm sure they used body doubles for the actress. So far, the filmmaker hasn't made any more films, but I checked her social media and saw that she's in the production phase of her new project, this time a new biography of the opera singer Ema Destinnová. We should keep an eye out for its release.

I hope to see Natalia Germani in new productions. Her filmography is short so far; she's 33 and should have more opportunities, whether in European cinema or by trying her luck in Hollywood.

I recommend the film. Put aside any preconceived notions and enjoy the story of a woman who had to face a double struggle against two deadly blows of fate.

Es hora de recomendar una película eslava, concretamente de la República Checa. Me interesa porque es una biografía de una mujer que fue famosa en su país por dos razones muy diferentes. La segunda razón de su fama la llevó a un nivel internacional. Si eres muy joven, probablemente no tengas ni idea de quién era, pero seguro que tu padre o tu abuelo vieron algunas de sus producciones, y para algunos de ellos, era una fuente de fascinación.

Puede que el nombre de Lea De Mae no te suene, pero si lo buscas en internet, encontrarás bastante material. Pero ten cuidado, sé discreto y asegúrate de que no haya niños cerca. Tenía recuerdos vagos de ese nombre y de las producciones que vi en mis viejas cintas VHS. Pero en esta película, descubriremos quién era esta mujer, cuyo nombre real era Andrea Absolonová, una prometedora integrante del equipo de natación de la República Checa. Su especialidad era el salto olímpico.

Algunas vidas parecen destinadas a sufrir duros golpes, pero aun así siguen intentándolo con todas sus fuerzas. Para mí, todo parecía un castigo injusto. Andrea brilló en el salto olímpico; su carrera como atleta estaba asegurada. Desde niña, recibió una preparación ganadora que le inculcó un espíritu competitivo. Quizás eso también la llevó a cambiar valientemente su vida y a ser la mejor en todo lo que se le proponía.

Ser perfeccionista puede ser una virtud o un defecto. Si bien te impulsa a dar lo mejor de ti para destacar y obtener reconocimiento en cualquier industria, también es una forma de presión autoimpuesta que puede pasar factura física y mentalmente, poniendo en riesgo tu salud.

Esta película biográfica no solo muestra las dos caras de esta mujer, que tuvo que reinventarse y aventurarse en un mundo donde las mujeres están completamente estigmatizadas, especialmente en una época tan diferente a la actual. En aquel entonces, entrar en la industria del cine para adultos conllevaba un gran rechazo familiar. Hoy parece que no es así; cada día miles de mujeres se dedican a ello, incluso animadas por sus familiares.

Andrea era muy bella, y la actriz que la interpretó es Natalia Germani, también muy atractiva, quien encarna a la perfección el aura sensual de la actriz original. He visto otras películas de esta actriz y publicaré sobre ellas más adelante. La película respeta la vida de Andrea; no pretende juzgarla, simplemente presenta los hechos. No es una película que aspire a revolucionar las biografías, pero sí se asegura de que Andrea (o Lea) y todo lo que tuvo que soportar no caigan en el olvido.

La película fue el primer largometraje de la cineasta checa Natálie Císařovská. Por cierto, me sorprendió que hubiera una escena bastante intensa y explícita; estoy seguro de que usaron dobles de cuerpo para la actriz. Hasta el momento, la cineasta no ha realizado más películas, pero revisé sus redes sociales y vi que está en la fase de producción de su nuevo proyecto, esta vez una nueva biografía de la cantante de ópera Ema Destinnová. Deberíamos estar atentos a su estreno.

Espero ver a Natalia Germani en nuevas producciones. Su filmografía es corta hasta ahora; tiene 33 años y debería tener más oportunidades, ya sea en el cine europeo o probando suerte en Hollywood.

Recomiendo la película. Deja de lado cualquier prejuicio y disfruta de la historia de una mujer que tuvo que enfrentarse a una doble lucha contra dos golpes mortales del destino.
