Over Your Dead Body

We're back with Samara Weaving and her recent string of cinematic successes. This girl seems to choose her roles wisely, doing what she does best: surviving and fighting for her life.

This time, I really enjoyed this film, which is an adaptation of a Norwegian movie. I saw the original a while ago and liked it; it was entertaining. But this American version, although it tells the same story, has a more dynamic tone, and I connected more with its humor. You can watch either one, the Norwegian I onde dager or this American version, but for now, I prefer Over Your Dead Body.

Actor and director Jorma Taccone, who is part of the trio The Lonely Island, directs this adaptation and does a good job. Funny and gory. It's a perfect combination; it completely hooked me, and I had a blast. There are some very tense situations and some pretty bloody deaths, but at the same time, they're so funny that they made me laugh a lot.

Lisa and Dan are a married couple who seem fed up with each other. Dan is a director who has only made one film in his life and now directs television commercials. She is an actress who dreams of making it big in the theater. But they can't seem to stand each other. What appears to be a weekend spent trying to rekindle their relationship is actually the execution of a plan each has devised to eliminate the other. That premise alone provides plenty of high-tension situations.

But to that, we should add that two dangerous criminals and the security guard who helped them escape from prison are hiding in Dan's father's cabin, where they spend the weekend. This is where the story takes a turn, and violence, torture, and blood will erupt in the film's most entertaining scenes. There's no time to breathe; if you're going to see it, go to the bathroom first, because you'll find it hard to look away from the story.

Of course, it's already a hallmark of her career, and it's what she does best: watching Samara Weaving trying to avoid being murdered with blood on her beautiful face. These are the scenes where she shines. By the way, I've already seen Ready or Not 2 and I also enjoyed it quite a bit, especially because she appears covered in blood for a large part of the film.

From the cast, I liked seeing Timothy Olyphant as Pete, one of the criminals, a sadistic killer, and Juliette Lewis as Allegra, the prison guard in love with Pete who helps him escape. Juliette Lewis was dazzling in her youth; I'll never forget how impressed she was in Oliver Stone's film Natural Born Killers, with a screenplay by Trantino. She captivated me again in Kalifornia, but then, with drugs and bad decisions, her career declined. The last thing I saw of her was in the series Yellowjackets. She continues to do small roles in other productions, but she never regained the level of her early work. I heard she's in the miniseries Cape Fear. She also worked on that movie, but I saw the first episode of the miniseries and I didn't like it.

If you like stories with lots of death and gore where the protagonists have to survive at all costs, this is your movie, because it also has a lot of humor that makes it quite entertaining. A movie to have a good time.

Volvemos con Samara Weaving y su reciente racha de éxitos cinematográficos. Esta chica parece elegir sus papeles con inteligencia, haciendo lo que mejor sabe: sobrevivir y luchar por su vida.

Esta vez, disfruté mucho con esta película, que es una adaptación de una película noruega. Vi la original hace tiempo y me gustó; fue entretenida. Pero esta versión estadounidense, aunque cuenta la misma historia, tiene un tono más dinámico y conecté más con su humor. Puedes ver cualquiera de las dos, la noruega I onde dager o esta versión estadounidense, pero por ahora, me quedo con Over Your Dead Body.

Lisa y Dan son un matrimonio que parece estar harto el uno del otro. Dan es un director que solo ha hecho una película en su vida y ahora dirige anuncios de televisión. Ella es una actriz que quiere triunfar en el teatro. Pero parece que no se soportan. Lo que parece ser un fin de semana en el que intentarán recuperar su relación es en realidad la ejecución de un plan que cada uno ha ideado para eliminar al otro. Esa premisa por sí sola proporciona muchas situaciones de alta tensión.

Pero a lo ya dicho, añadiremos que en la cabaña del padre de Dan, donde pasan ese fin de semana, se esconden dos peligrosos criminales y el guardia de seguridad que los ayudó a escapar de la cárcel. Es aquí donde la historia da un giro, y la violencia, la tortura y la sangre estallarán en las situaciones más entretenidas de la película. No hay tiempo para respirar; Si vas a verla, ve primero al baño, porque te será difícil apartar la vista de la historia.

Por supuesto, ya es un sello distintivo de su carrera, y es lo que mejor sabe hacer: ver a Samara Weaving intentando evitar ser asesinada con sangre en su hermoso rostro. Estas son las escenas en las que destaca. Por cierto, ya vi Ready or Not 2 y también la disfruté bastante, sobre todo porque aparece cubierta de sangre durante gran parte de la película.

Del reparto, me gustó ver a Timothy Olyphant como Pete, uno de los delincuentes, un asesino sádico, y a Juliette Lewis como Allegra, la guardia de la prisión enamorada de Pete que lo ayuda a escapar. Me cautivó de nuevo en Kalifornia, pero luego, con las drogas y las malas decisiones, su carrera decayó. Lo último que vi de ella fue en la serie Yellowjackets. Sigue haciendo pequeños papeles en otras producciones, pero nunca recuperó el nivel de sus inicios. Oí que aparece en la miniserie Cape Fear. También trabajó en esa película, pero vi el primer episodio de esta miniserie y no me gustó.

Si te gustan las historias con mucha muerte, sangre y donde los protagonistas tienen que sobrevivir a toda costa, esta es tu película, porque también tiene mucho humor que la hace bastante entretenida. Una película para pasar un buen rato.
