International spy thriller, about a Mossad agent who embarks on a dangerous mission in an enemy country.

Tamar Rabinyan is a young Mossad hacker agent, whose family was from Iran and now must return to Tehran for an important mission. The operation is being monitored in real time by Mossad, but not everything is going as planned. Small obstacles endanger the success of the mission and the life of the spy. Tamar decides to escape from Iran on her own, Mossad searches for her to get her out safely and the Iranian intelligence services follow her.

The first episode shows us the political context in which the plot of the series takes place. There are two young men from Israel who travel on a plane to India, but due to an engine failure they have to stop in Tehran. The two boys panic, they know that they will be arrested and with a high possibility of not getting out alive, because it is an enemy nation.

They are two confronted peoples, declared enemies, a hatred that goes back to ancestral times, but in the case of Iran, it was in the seventies when the conflict officially started.

It is important to understand the location and cultures that the story of the series tells, for many viewers who know little about that part of the world, its customs and all the hatred in the region. Like the protagonist, we will be surprised to see people executed by hanging them in public, using construction cranes.

In another episode, we will see the protests of young people fighting for greater freedom, with the danger of doing so, because if they are arrested, they will not have a good time. Also, that there are young people who support their government, who prefer to continue living in the obscurantism of a religion that does not understand that we are in the 21st century.

The series distributed by Apple TV consists of eight episodes, so far, those that have been broadcast have a great quality and the story has an adequate rhythm, always maintaining the tension on the protagonist, who must find a way to leave the country, but it becomes increasingly difficult.

The character of Tamar, will get in touch with the only relative left in that country, her mother's sister, who married an Iranian and decided to stay. The series captures another sad reality, that of families separated by religion, culture and hate.

It is paradoxical that these cultures, each one of them worships a God that they say is love, but that they have spent all their history hating and killing each other. Causing misfortunes and their peoples suffering wars. It is a conflict that will never be solved; they are destined to annihilate each other with their hate.

The promotions of the series have highlighted that one of the screenwriters is Moshe Zonder. He was one of the screenwriters of another successful Israeli series, the thriller Fauda. That series was a success in his country and also received excellent reviews abroad, it was distributed by Netflix. With Zonder as one of the screenwriters, we can expect a story that will be attractive.

The actor Shaun Toub is the best known face for us, the actor has worked in the Iron Man movies and other Hollywood productions. In the series he plays Faraz Kamali, head of the Iranian intelligence service. He discovers that something is going on and wants to catch the woman who managed to infiltrate his country. He is smart and has all the police resources at his disposal.

The Israeli actress Niv Sultan plays the main character Tamar Rabinyan, the young hacker who, upon failing in her mission, must find a way to escape from Iran on her own, since she does not trust the agent who must execute the extraction. I don't know the previous works of the actress Iz, apparently this is her most important character so far. The public reception in her country has been good, the series is a success and she is enjoying the success.

There are more actors, most of them known in their home countries. I invite you to look for the archive of the series at IMDB and review the trajectory of each one of them.

All the episodes have been directed by filmmaker Daniel Syrkin, who in 2006 directed the film Lemarit ain and in recent years has worked on several series and mini-series in Israel, all with notable public and critical success.

A high quality production, a story that captures the viewer. This spy thriller has tension and moments of action in the style of the American spy series. Will Tamar manage to escape from Iran? Will she be captured? Let's wait until the end of the series to see the fate of this beautiful spy hacker.

The series is available on Apple TV+

My Ranking: 3.2/5
