Someone is lying.

The art of deception: some have perfected this skill more than others, though in real life, it is part of our daily routine. Whether at work or in any other sphere, there are people who live by lies. I have encountered many such individuals throughout my life and, naturally, I try to steer clear of them; I am very cautious, though that does not make me immune to falling victim to a scam.
The film portrays characters who are each more despicable than the last—all because of that damned money. It is precisely what drives us to commit crimes. Not a single character is redeemable, not even the protagonist. They are all individuals who lie and deceive, seeking only to satisfy their own sordid interests.
The film is titled The Origin of Evil, but does evil truly have a specific origin? I have expressed my opinion on this matter many times. Both good and evil are inherent to human beings. We are conscious beings, so it is up to us to decide whether to do good or evil. However, looking at today's society, it seems that those who do evil often come out on top, and I believe the same holds true in this film.
The movie belongs to the suspense genre but incorporates a touch of dark humor, particularly in its critique of the upper class—the wealthy. We see a millionaire's family trying to have him declared legally incapacitated so they can seize control of his companies and his money. The more money you have, the more problems you have, too.
It is a common occurrence, even among people who are not particularly wealthy. You see people trying to get their hands on houses, businesses, and so on. If that happens on a small scale, imagine how many such cases occur among the truly rich. Children wanting to claim their share, where love for a parent has taken a back seat to the desire for absolute control and money. The same goes for the spouses: that vow to "love forever" has vanished, replaced by a desire to walk away with all the money. That’s life. The plot thickens when the patriarch’s illegitimate daughter—the product of a past affair—enters the family’s lives. The story’s conflicts revolve around her, as the family views her as an opportunist surely looking for a financial windfall. Alliances, betrayals, and deceptions soon emerge as everyone looks out for their own interests. As the title suggests, someone is lying; but in this chaotic situation, it’s possible that everyone is lying, so don’t believe everything you see.
There was one revelation that struck me as somewhat predictable, but that doesn't detract from the final result. It was a highly entertaining film, with amusing moments stemming from the web of lies woven around the characters; when the truth finally comes to light, ambition and malice take center stage.
Perhaps I expected a little more from this movie, but it managed to entertain me, and I think it’s worth recommending.
