The Rock

Review by @jeff001 · 2871d · of The Rock

Another Odd couple.

One tough, one smart guy. In a rehash of partners from different backgrounds/skills that must work together or the bad guys win. Nothing really new about the plot, Hollywood do this type of movie every so often.

We have Stanley Goodspeed, a biochemist who happens to work for the FBI. He is informed that tourists on Alcatraz have been taken hostage, and that the "terrorists" ex US armed forces have missiles with nerve gas. They have threatened to use the warheads unless they get the money that they want.

The FBI believe that if they can get Stanley to the missile that he can disarm them, but he will need guide, someone that knows Alcatraz. This is the job for a ex British MI5 agent John Patrick currently being held by the US government. He managed to escape from Alcatraz many years before.

The end result is that we have a mismatched pair that must work together for the common goal. Surprise, they manage to work together and save the day. Sean Connery does a very good job, and makes this film a little better than your run of the mill new partners that need to work together.

Your "best" (Jeff). Losers always whine about their "best". Winners go home and f**k the prom queen.
