This week Marvel Studios made its second installment of the series What if..., And this time we are introduced to the legendary king of Wakanda, T'Chala, as he is kidnapped by Yondu and the Devastators instead of Star-Lord (Peter Quill), as presented to us by the Guardians of the Galaxy in the traditional Marvel universe.
It turned out to be a great adaptation, firstly, because we enjoyed some of the last performances of the sadly deceased Chadwick Boseman, in fact, the whole episode is dedicated to him "our friend, inspiration and hero", indeed, his short presence in the UCM was enough to earn him the affection and appreciation of many.
Secondly, it is very evident the twist that gives all the traditional story we knew, from the admiration that Star-Lord generates around him to a surprising Thanos under the figure of a hero and not the villain we were used to, I think we should get used to this, since it is the direction towards which the entire UCM is heading, therefore, the importance of this series for fans.
Esta semana Marvel Studios hizo su segunda entrega de la serie What if...?, Y esta vez nos presenta al legendario rey de Wakanda, T'Chala, ya que es secuestrado por Yondu y los devastadores en vez de Star Lord (Peter Quill), tal como nos lo presentó los guardianes de la galaxia en el universo tradicional de Marvel.
Resultó ser una adaptación estupenda, en primer lugar, porque disfrutamos de unas de las últimas actuaciones del tristemente fallecido Chadwick Boseman, de hecho todo el episodio es dedicado a él "nuestro amigo, inspiración y héroe", en efecto, su corta presencia en el UCM le fue suficiente para ganarse el cariño y aprecio de muchos.
En segundo lugar, resulta muy evidente el giro que da toda la historia tradicional que conocíamos, desde la admiración que a su alrededor genera Star Lord hasta un sorprendente Thanos bajo la figura de héroe y no del villano al cual estábamos acostumbrados, creo debemos irnos acostumbrando a esto, ya que es la dirección hacia la que se dirige toda la UCM, por eso, la importancia de esta serie para los fanáticos.
So, unlike the first episode, we do not have strict parallelism but here we are presented, everything from a more original point of view, among some details, I would like to mention:
The essence of T'Chala's personality is maintained. And this despite being playing another character, which makes it very interesting, as it is this detail that gives attraction to this type of series, as we are presented with several alternatives on the same fact, event, hero, antihero, and villain, something about which surely we have all speculated at some point.
Thanos' conversion. In this sense, he reminded me of Loki, since he shows us how his goals of doing justice to the universe, achieving the perfect balance (the ultimate goal of Thanos' famous snap)can be achieved in another way, in this universe he will do it by joining the line of the devastators who according to this episode steal from the rich to give to the poor.
The collector as villain. In the absence of the galactic villain is a character that was normally enigmatic to us but here we are shown his true nature. I say this because the darkness of this character, at least to me, hinted at evil intentions that here fit perfectly.
Cosmopolitan Heart. If there is something we can highlight about those who travel the Universe, like T'Chala and the Devastators, is that no world can contain their desire to explore, the point is - as Yondu says - to find their place, therefore, it is touching how the story of Star Lord's noble heart in the figure of the prince of Wakanda ends in a family reunion, bringing together his two greatest Treasures: His father and homeland and his galactic family.
Así pues, a diferencia del primer episodio no tenemos un estricto paralelismos sino que aquí se nos presenta todo desde un punto de vista más original, entre algunos detalles, me gustaría mencionar:
Se mantiene la esencia de la personalidad de T'Chala. Y esto a pesar de estar interpretando otro personaje, lo cual lo vuelve muy Interesante, ya que es este detalle lo que le da atractivo a este tipo de series, ya que nos presentan diversas alternativas sobre un mismo hecho, acontecimiento, héroe, anti héroe y villano, algo sobre lo cual seguramente todos alguna vez hemos especulado.
La conversión de Thanos. En este sentido, me recordó a Loki, ya que nos muestra como sus objetivos de hacer justicia al universo, lograr la balanza perfecta (objetivo último del famoso chasquido de Thanos)lo puede lograr de otra forma, en este universo lo hará uniéndose a la fila de los devastadores que según este episodio roban a los ricos para dar a los pobres.
El coleccionista como villano. A falta del villano galáctico está un personaje que normalmente era enigmático para nosotros pero que aquí se nos muestra en su verdadera naturaleza. Lo digo porque la oscuridad de este personaje, al menos a mí, me insinuaba unas malas intenciones que aquí encajan perfectamente.
Corazón cosmopolita. Si hay algo que podemos resaltar de los que viajan por el Universo, como T'Chala y los devastadores, es que ningún mundo puede contener sus ansias de explorar, el punto es -como dice Yondu - encontrar su lugar, por eso, resulta conmovedor como la historia del corazón noble de Star Lord en la figura del príncipe de Wakanda termine en una reunión familiar, juntando a sus dos más grandes Tesoros: Su padre y patria natal y su familia galáctica.
