Good to all in the community, today I bring you a review of what is so far my favorite series in life action, a series that will be able to break any prejudice that can give the series that as a joke I call "Power Ranger Japanese. Review - Kamen Rider 555
The story takes place in Japan where a virus spreads that resurrects the dead and transforms them into creatures called "Orphnoch" that assume the next stage in human evolution and seek to extend their species by killing other people. To defend themselves from these monsters, a group of friends steals a belt from the Smarth Brain company that provides the user with the Kamen Rider 555 suit, the only weapon that can kill the Orphnochs, but only certain types of people can use it. Mari Sonoda, who with the belt tries to escape from an Orphnoch, finds a lonely young man, Takumi Inui, who is forced to transform himself into Kamen Rider Faiz and save his life, involving this man in the conflict.
This installment of Kamen Rider focuses much on drama; there is suffering, death and betrayal. Personal conflicts have more focus than fighting the enemy of the week and the evil organization in turn. Moreover, here it is not a battle of good against evil, but neutrality against evil as many characters become selfish and change sides at their convenience or because of a change in their psychology. Instead of the characters committing stupid things because of the incompetence of the writer as in many cases, here they water it as a real toxic person would do and suffer from the weight of their actions, no one is a poor victim who did not deserve what happened to him nor is anyone a savior with a higher morality, possessing a belt that endows them with skills does not make their life more exciting nor does it make them feel like superheroes, it only brings more conflicts to their lives and a responsibility that if neglected would endanger humanity.
Among the negatives is that even though misunderstandings are part of the charm, there are exaggerated cases in which the viewer looks helplessly at how alliances are broken by trusting the wrong person. The series is expert in wasting potential: Kill a possible female Rider, discard a great Dark Rider, neglect Yuka's personal conflict, etc. There is already a lot of tension, so ending each chapter with a Cliffhanger is unnecessary, especially since 60% are easily resolved by the next chapter. For all that the series wanted to cover, 50 chapters were done little (which is rare, it is almost always the other way around) so the final stretch feels rushed, a boring boss that appeared very late, the final battle is resolved almost by a kick, and the conclusion is a little dry, but at least it gave a conclusion to each character; perhaps by taking out one or another subplot from the beginning it would have given them a better conclusion.

Takumi as a protagonist is one of the best that I have seen, he began as a Rider for selfish reasons or for literally having nothing else to do and treated those around him like garbage, then he learned to fight for fair reasons, set a goal in life, and appreciate more his friends who treated him badly only for fear of becoming attached to them, this makes him stand out above any pure-hearted protagonist. But then there is a twist in the plot that reveals the origin of his insecurities that motivated him to hurt himself believing that he was doing good to others when he only needed to confess what was tormenting him, this badly executed could have been a somewhat forced conflict committing madness instead of just talking, but it turned out to endow the character with humanity.
Kusaka is a particular case since he is the secondary Rider, these are almost always unpleasant rivals who then become the prota's compadres, but Kusaka hates the prota from start to finish and fights alongside him for convenience, but constantly tends to choose what to ruin first, the villains' plan or Takumi's life, in general he treats everyone except Mari horribly and just because he has an unhealthy obsession with her, Kusaka is responsible for many of the misunderstandings in the series that for him is game but end up escalating into bigger problems that take their toll when he least expects it. Every time he does his psychopathic smile you know that something unforgivable is going to happen, basically he is a diabolus ex machina disguised as a hero.
Mihara... exists, she is only there to cover the space of third Rider that unfortunately was just the most brilliant and powerful suit but that to nerfe it was left in the hands of an inept.

Mari is what I call a "tool character": she has a weight in the plot and in several conflicts, but out of these she is bored with everything and how tsudere it is with the prota and have the dream of being a hairdresser, so the plot treats her as a tool that little or nothing matters her charisma.
Ketaro the only good character here, who gives Takumi and Mari work and a roof over their heads, as you would expect is not so relevant, makes comic relief and provides a romantic subplot that ends on a bitter note for him.
On the Orphnoch side we have Kiba, who follows an opposite course from Takumi, a nice guy who life urges him to become evil, and has a good and complementary friendship with Takumi despite the fact that when they become Riders and Orphnoch they adopt a deadly rivalry for not recognizing their identities.
Yuka is a martyr whose life was horrible until she met Kiva, she killed all those who hurt her in her past life and since then she fights not to fall into darkness, but this was not so explored and the plot gave more weight to her romantic subplot.
Kaido is another comic relief but a more interesting one, he has a tragic past related to his dream of being a musician, he doesn't pay attention if he is on the right side or not until he has his development, something late but that explores his more attentive and altruistic side.

Of the villains of Smarth Brain there is not much to highlight, mainly they are there to remind us that there is a main plot to develop and try to steal the belts.
Kyoji is the typical head of an evil organization that is supposed to be intimidating (and would still have been a better boss in the end). Saeko and Itsuro start as "the most badass here" and a pretentious bore respectively, to end up as a pretentious and quite funny geek thanks to Kitazaki, someone extremely powerful who plays with Itsuro's fear and who was also a Dark Rider temporarily, then he stopped being one and the character became "meh".
What is surprising is that the series has some of the best episodic monsters, all people who after dying and being revived as orphnoch were or will be corrupted by power, even some give us the chance to know them well.

The final form of Faiz, as simple as it is in design, as Power Up fulfills its purpose. The CGI is what you can expect from 2003 but it's nice that they don't abcuse vehicles and robots that used them in very busy and short scenes. The fights are usually a little rough, here no character is raised as a karateka, but it was expected something better in their choreography.
Apartado sonoro / Sound Section
While SoundTrack is not my favorite, songs like E.G.O and Dead or Alive remain epic in battle.
En conclusión / In conclusion
When it comes to Tokusatsu, combining a genuinely dark and dramatic plot with PS2 spandex and CGI subjects without fail is a daunting task. But Faiz showed me that it can be difficult, but not impossible. Excellent characters, a catchy plot that makes happy science fiction fans like me, and despite its several failures, none is strong enough to not deserve a good and not despicable 7.55/10
