Hola Hivers amantes de la películas, hoy quiero presentarles una nueva reseña, en este caso la película está próxima a cumplir una década desde su lanzamiento, así que probablemente muchos en el pasado han tenido la oportunidad de verla, sin embargo, yo la tuve esa oportunidad hace apenas algunas semanas. Me llaman mucho la atención las películas en donde las finanzas juegan un papel importante en la producción cinematográfica, estaré hablando de varias películas de este tipo, por ahora hablaremos de Moneyball o El juego de la fortuna como es su nombre en español.
Esta película lanzada el 15 de septiembre es dirigida por Bennett Miller, con las actuaciones principales de Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill y Philip Seymour Hoffman, asegurando buenas actuaciones para esta película. Esta película es basada en una historia real de la experiencia de Billy Beane, gerente general del equipo Oakland Athletics. Incluso cuenta con una novela publicada en el 2003 llamada Moneyball: the art of winning an unfair game.
En lo particular me gustan las películas que son para amantes de las finanzas o emprendedores, tener la posibilidad de ver una película de este tipo, agregándole el béisbol con actuaciones de muy reconocidos actores hace que sea película realmente interesante que particularmente me llamó la atención a pesar de que ya tiene algunos años desde su producción.
Sinopsis:
Billy Beane es el gerente general del equipo de béisbol Oakland Athletics, un equipo acostumbrado a las derrotas en cada temporada hasta que Billy intenta cambiar el modelo de negocio en este equipo perdedor. Contrata a un joven economista experto en estadísticas para crear un nuevo equipo para competir realmente para llegar a la serie mundial. Ambos enfrentaran dificultades en el proceso de adaptación de este nuevo modelo y enfrentaran a otros directivos del equipo incluyendo al entrenador del equipo Art Howe.
Atención, como es de costumbre en mis publicaciones, tendremos un segmento de esta publicación para revisar detalles en la película que en lo particular me llamaron la atención, es conveniente mencionar que en a continuación habrá algunos spoilers sobre esta película y al final del post les dejaré mi opinión y le otorgaré a la película una puntuación.
Película para Emprendedores
Pienso que esta película es realmente interesante desde cierto punto de vista para los emprendedores y personas amantes de las finanzas, debido a que empezamos con un equipo destrozado por las derrotas que se convierten en el resultado habitual de los Oakland Athletics, sin embargo, desde el fondo del agujero el equipo cuenta como gerente general a Billy Beane, un hombre que profesionalmente no está muy bien preparado, sin embargo, ha dedicado casi toda su vida al béisbol y conoce el oficio muy bien.
Al comenzar la película, observamos que en las personas que deciden las decisiones operativas del equipo existe cierto conformismo con los resultados, las derrotas son habituales en cada temporada, es algo que incomodaba a Billy, el gerente quería algo mejor para el equipo, quería títulos y victorias en sus vitrinas, sin embargo, era el único que poseía esa visión y la disposición de hacer algo al respecto.
A pesar de que las finanzas del equipo era limitadas, se podía decir que contaban con cierta estabilidad, en ese momento la mejor manera de contar con dinero en el banco era por la venta de los jugadores estrellas, los cazatalentos eran una pieza fundamental en la economía de los Oakland Athletics, encontrar jóvenes promesas, desarrollar sus talentos y luego venderlos a equipos grandes. Evidentemente esta manera de negocios que ciertamente puede ser rentable hacia que el equipo de béisbol no cosechara grandes triunfos haciendo que la serie mundial solamente sea un sueño lejano.
Con clara frustración en Billy trata de mantener a sus mejores jugadores para la temporada siguiente, pero los jugosos contratos que ofrecía los grandes equipos hacían que el jugador cambiara de horizonte sin pensarlo, teniendo en cuenta la gran prestigio que representaba para los jugador pertenecer a un equipo como los Yankees por colocar un ejemplo. Los demás directivos simplemente se dedicaban a buscar los reemplazos de los jugadores estrellas, el equipo de Oakland estaba acostumbrado a este tipo de acontecimientos y a este manejo de la organización.
Billy no encuentra salida para hacer cambiar la mentalidad en la mesa de decisiones, veteranos del béisbol le sugerían seguir por ese camino, que las finanzas están muy limitadas pero que pudiesen estar mucho peor, sin embargo, el protagonista representado por Brad Pitt no se da por vencido y está completamente decidido a luchar por el campeonato aunque las decisiones que tome como gerente general pondrán en riesgo su carrera.
Todo cambia para Billy al conocer a Peter Brand, un joven economista con conocimientos sobre jugadores de béisbol. Billy se da cuenta de su gran conocimiento al momento de negociar el traspaso de uno de sus jugadores, Peter hace que el dueño del otro equipo se niegue a comprar el jugador que ofrece Billy a pesar de la aceptación de la mayoría de las personas en la habitación, este acontecimiento causa una gran curiosidad por ese joven economista. Un equipo de béisbol debe componerse por un equipo de jugadores perfectamente engranado, sin embargo, para el presupuesto de Oakland Athletics Billy sabía que debía investigar mucho a jugadores que otros equipos con una mayor chequera no tomaran en cuenta.

Peter le muestra los números a Billy y salen a la negociación de su traspaso, algo que genera discordia en la mesa de toma de decisiones del equipo de Oakland, debido que están acostumbrados a realizar negociaciones partiendo del aspecto físico del jugador, incluyendo su técnica ante los ojos de los fanáticos. Un jugador bien parecido contaba con crédito extra para ingresar en el equipo, algo que no le interesaba a Peter ni a Billy, ellos querían formar un equipo efectivo, que ganara partidos importantes, no que se vieran bien ante las cámaras al momento de perder.
Al manejar las estadísticas de los jugadores tenían una lista de prospectos para cambiar la base del equipo y transformarlo en ganadores de partidos, sin embargo, muchos ayudantes renuncian a su puesto debido al conflicto que generaba ese cambio de timón propuesto por Billy, no estaban acostumbrados a ese modelo de negocio y simplemente no soportaban el cambio que se estaba produciendo en los Oakland Athletics.

Al realizar los cambios pedidos por Billy y Peter consiguen algunas victorias, el equipo poco a poco va ganando en confianza para enfrentar el resto de la temporada, poco a poco esas victorias se transforman en una racha histórica para el equipo, Billy había estado al borde del despido, sin embargo, el nuevo modelo de negocios con respecto a los jugadores había funcionado luego de muchos conflictos dentro de la organización de Oakland. El quipo cosechaba una racha histórica para la organización alcanzando los 20 juegos sin conocer la derrota.
Así como comenté al principio de la publicación esto es parte de la historia real de los Oakland Athletics, ocurre específicamente en la temporada de 2002 con el protagonista que ya conocemos en la silla de gerente general, Billy Beane. A pesar de no conseguir la serie mundial marcaron la historia de la franquicia debido a esa gran racha de victorias. Opinión:
Me parece una película atractiva desde el punto de vista emocional debido a que es bastante emotiva y sobre todo desde el punto de vista de los negocios. Pienso que es una película que le pudiese aburrir a muchos espectadores debido a la trama lenta y pausada, si al espectador no le gusta el béisbol ni las finanzas definitivamente no le recomendarían verla, por otro lado en lo particular me agradó la película ya que este tipo de producciones me alientan en mi vida como emprendedor en el mundo de los negocios y las criptomonedas en las cuales tengo inversiones.
Un aspecto que me gusta de este tipo de películas es la rebeldía de Billy para no conformarse con las migajas del campeonato, vendiendo a sus principales estrella y así suponer una limitada comodidad financiera. Pensar en cambiar el modelo de negocio fue vital para el éxito de la franquicia esa temporada. Muchos lo criticaron y juzgaron por ese cambio, debemos tener en cuenta que no todas las personas ven el cambio del mismo modo, esto también se refleja en esta película.
Realmente no es una película que resalte mucho, no es del gusto de todos los espectadores, sin embargo me parece entretenida para verla y reflexionar, es por esa razón que hoy comparto esta opinión con todos los Hivers.

Movie for Entrepreneurs
I think this movie is really interesting from a certain point of view for entrepreneurs and people who love finances, due to the fact that we start with a team shattered by the defeats that become the usual result of the Oakland Athletics, however, from the bottom of the hole the team counts as general manager Billy Beane, a man who professionally is not very well prepared, however, he has dedicated almost all his life to baseball and knows the trade very well.
At the beginning of the film, we observe that in the people who decide the operational decisions of the team there is a certain conformism with the results, defeats are common in every season, it is something that made Billy uncomfortable, the manager wanted something better for the team, he wanted titles and victories in their showcases, however, he was the only one who possessed that vision and the willingness to do something about it.
Although the finances of the team were limited, it could be said that they had some stability, at that time the best way to have money in the bank was by selling the star players, the scouts were a fundamental piece in the economy of the Oakland Athletics, find young promises, develop their talents and then sell them to big teams. Evidently this way of doing business, which can certainly be profitable, was keeping the baseball team from winning big, making the World Series only a distant dream.
With clear frustration Billy tried to keep his best players for the following season, but the juicy contracts offered by the big teams made the players change their horizons without thinking about it, taking into account the great prestige that belonging to a team like the Yankees represented for the players, for example. The other managers were simply looking for replacements for the star players, the Oakland team was accustomed to this type of events and to this kind of management of the organization.
Billy does not find a way to change the mentality at the decision-making table, baseball veterans suggested him to continue on this path, that the finances are very limited but could be much worse, however, the protagonist represented by Brad Pitt does not give up and is fully determined to fight for the championship even though the decisions he makes as general manager will jeopardize his career.
Everything changes for Billy when he meets Peter Brand, a young economist with knowledge about baseball players. Billy realizes his great knowledge at the time of negotiating the transfer of one of his players, Peter makes the owner of the other team refuses to buy the player offered by Billy despite the acceptance of most people in the room, this event causes a great curiosity for this young economist. A baseball team should be made up of a perfectly meshed team of players, however, for the Oakland Athletics budget Billy knew he had to do a lot of research on players that other teams with a larger checkbook would not consider.
