[ES-EN] Assassin's Creed II Reseña y Opinión // Assassin's Creed II Review and Opinion

Review by @joheredia21 · 2018d · of Assassin's Creed II

Assassin's Creed II

Assassin's Creed II

[English Version]

Hello Gamers, this time I want to tell you about another video game that I had the opportunity to play on my Xbox 360 a few years ago, previously I wrote about my experience regarding the first version in Assassin's Creed, a video game that really changed my concept of the genre of action and adventure within the classification of freedom of movement, for me, this series of video games are the most influential in this genre since the release of Assassin's Creed.

Source

Assassin's Creed II is released two years after its first version, undoubtedly a resounding success which players around the world acclaimed for new versions, the company Ubisoft being fundamental in the development and distribution of this saga in all its versions has made the entire Assassin's Creed saga in your business card for several years.

Source

I had this video game for my Xbox 360, undoubtedly one of my favorite games along with FIFA, Call Of Duty among other video games fashionable for that time, however, of those fabulous games this was the one I got last. Because my Xbox was damaged I could not complete the last missions of the game, however, I was able to play a lot of this game that I really loved also for its complexity. I hope to play it again and finally complete those last missions, a pending account with the past.

Italy in Renaissance Times

Assassin's Creed, shows us a science fiction story where a human being can relive memories of their ancestors through a machine called Animus, this is responsible for searching the DNA information of the individual to give you an experience in the body of that ancestor, in this case the Assassins.

Source

In the first version we were in the body of Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, in Syria, now in Assassin's Creed II we make an important leap in time to reach the Italy of the Renaissance inside the body of Ezio Auditore Da Firenze, another ancestor of Desmond Miles, the same descendant of Altaïr.

I think that the recreation of Renaissance Florence is really magnificent by the developers of the video game, the details are magnificent and make the player get hooked with the story quickly.

Video Game Highlights.

Part of the Story:

The aspect that I liked most about this game is that it makes us part of the renaissance history, the scene where we take the sharp but broken assassin's blade to the young Leonardo Da Vinci, I felt part of the great history of the renaissance, in the game we interact a lot with Leonardo, in his beginnings and as a young man who had not yet achieved fame, however, his intelligence, cunning and above all his inventions make us easier the way as assassins within the plot of the video game.

Freedom of Movement

Like the previous version in this game we have a great freedom of movement, that means that if we want to jump over the rooftops, ride a horse or kill the guards and soldiers we can do it freely. In particular as I mentioned in my first post about Assassin's Creed, I find it hard to be the typical stealthy assassin, I prefer action and combat, face an army and defeat them all, many hours in the versions of Assassin's Creed I've played I've spent just fighting and killing soldiers.

Source

To that typical freedom of movement we were used to in the first version of Assassin's Creed some features are added to increase that freedom within the video game. You can enter the missions whenever you like or include secondary missions to add more fun to the plot, these can be activated whenever we want when we reach a specific place marked on the map.

Source

Puzzles in the Buildings

Since the first version we see assassins with superhuman abilities climbing buildings without any difficulty, however, unlike the first version where with Altaïr we can climb wherever we want like an ape and climb in a very easy way with Ezio in Assassin's Creed II will not always be so easy.

The developers added this extra difficulty in the plot of the video game, some buildings we must climb thinking where to jump and what ledge to aim to hold us and continue with the puzzle, probably if we fail we fall in the middle of a lot of soldiers and being discovered the mission fails.

Source

I remember that in one of these buildings I was stuck for at least an hour or even more, solving how I can climb the building, I came from playing with Altaïr in the first version and this guy climbed anything without problems, so in several moments I lost a lot of time climbing, I remember that in a mission that was essential in stealth I was frustrated not being able to cross the door and kill all the guards in the place.

Weapons

Another quite interesting aspect that is added to this game compared to its first version is that we have more choice in terms of weapons, I think what stands out in this aspect are the knives that we can now use even some we can throw, even poisoned, a new feature that copies in the most updated versions of Assassin's Creed.

Definitely throwing poisoned darts is something important for the stealth mode of an assassin, eliminating guards or targets from a distance without emitting any sound is quite convenient for some missions.

Source

Another weapon that is quite important is the small concealed pistol built by our good friend Leonardo Da Vinci, something definitely advanced for the time, however, the story is fascinating as well as the design of the concealed barrel. Altaïr, the legendary assassin, manages to acquire this knowledge thanks to experimentation with the fruit of Eden, a precious object for both assassins and Templar knights.

Altaïr manages to miniaturize the weapon so that it can be concealed and fired from the wrist, but that the size does not put in doubt the power of this weapon as it can eliminate a target at a distance. The original plans are copied in Altaïr's diary which is then part of the Codex that would later come into the hands of none other than our good friend of adventures Leonardo Da Vinci.

Source

I remember that I had a lot of fun using the flying machine, a glider that made Ezio become a bomber in the sky, something that I liked quite a lot within the plot, the development of technology that for the historical moment was undoubtedly very advanced.

Combat:

The dynamics of combat improves without a doubt, not only by the increase in the number of weapons, also by the new movements that the assassin of this second version has, we can appreciate more movements in the counterattack, even the possibility of disarming the opponent and use the weapon against him is added, making the combat more attractive, taking into account the improvements in the quality of the graphics in this second version.

Source

Economy

Another aspect that is improved in this new version is the economy of our character, in this version we can invest money in a village which will produce income and that extra money can be used to buy weapons, improvements in tailoring, medicine or even reinvest it in the village, in particular a point in favor of this improvement in terms of the character's money.

Conclusions

In particular I think that the mechanics of the game improves in this second version, it seems to me that it would surpass in some aspects to Assassin's Creed 2007 because more options are added, movements, weapons and adds a little more freedom when choosing missions and side quests.

Source

The graphics are also improved in this version making it more attractive in terms of image quality in general including the scenarios of Renaissance Italy, another plus point for this game in that aspect.

Undoubtedly what calls me most of the Assassin's Creed saga is the story, the plot of the game that is put together like a puzzle over the years with the new versions, I think this is something necessary to have the players in the palm of your hand for so many years. Also if we add historical characters to the plot it is something that appeals to players who like plots with events or circumstances that took place hundreds of years ago.

Source

Adding Leonardo, our dear friend in Assassin's Creed II, gives an extra reason to players to try this game, and also in the following versions of Assassin's Creed, relating it with such famous characters benefits the plot without a doubt, in my case this aspect fascinated me since I learned about this game, the truth is that I am a person who also likes history, that is why I find this aspect of the game so attractive.

Unfortunately I could not complete it, because my Xbox 360 suffered some damage, however, I can download it and play it again, where the nostalgia can appear again in my mind, it is a good way to remember those old times when I sat for hours playing Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II especially killing soldiers.

Source

A huge pleasure to write for all of you, the gamers of Hive, we are entering a week of many successes for everyone and that is reason to celebrate, what better celebration than playing the videogames we like the most, a hug to all of you, keep it up.
