No podemos negar que aunque algunos de nosotros nacimos posteriormente a la muerte de Elvis Presley, es muy probable que reconozcamos su nombre y su influencia en la cultura musical, sobre todo en los años 70. Este es un filme que nos muestra desde una perspectiva muy interesante la vida de uno de los iconos de la música que mayor éxito cosechó entre sus fans.
Quizás reconozcamos a este artista y su nombre, sin embargo, existen muchos detalles de su vida que hemos ignorado, al menos ese ha sido mi caso, confieso que no he buscado mucha información sobre este gran personaje de la música, quizás por la distancia en cuanto a años desde su mayor influencia, sin embargo, normalmente tenemos curiosidad sobre la vida de estos artistas y esa es la razón por la cual en mi caso he decidido ver este filme.
Sinopsis:
En los inicios de su carrera en el espectáculo, el coronel Tom Parker descubre lo que puede ser la atracción perfecta, un espectáculo con el potencial de cautivar al mundo, ese joven llamado Elvis puede cambiar el mundo de la música con todos los beneficios que todo eso significa.
Análisis del Filme
La película se concentra principalmente desde la perspectiva del coronel Tom Parker, interpretado por Tom Hanks, bajo la óptica del controversial manager de Elvis, aunque desconozcamos la historia, el filme comienza desde ese punto en que podemos colocar al mismo Parker como un villano escondido dentro de la historia, para luego introducirnos en los inicios musicales de Elvis.
Estilo Afroamericano
Sabemos en los años de la juventud de Elvis, el racismo dominaba Norteamérica, e incluso se discriminaba a los artistas musicales que adoptaban los estilos afroamericanos. La segregación era ley en aquellos días, sin embargo, Elvis logra cautivar a sus fans con su controversial estilo que evidentemente le atrae muchos problemas.

El filme nos presenta una analogía interesante, de hecho, la comparación que realiza el personaje del coronel Tom Parker es sobre una feria de atracciones, donde hay magia, enanos, animales y cualquier artilugio tramado para quitarle el dinero a las otras personas, un hombre que sabe lo que significa el beneficio del buen entretenimiento y el de buscar tierras más fértiles cuando las carteras de los espectadores comienzan a vaciarse, bajo ese pensamiento este personaje interpretado por Tom Hanks va desarrollando la carrera de Elvis, por supuesto, bajo sus propios intereses.
Es inevitable pensar aquellos viejos refranes en donde se describen a aquellos artistas como "monos de circo" o "payasos" donde solo existen para entretener, aunque a mi parecer la vida de un artista va mucho más allá de eso, el filme coloca a Elvis como una atracción sublime atrapada en una jaula de oro.
Adicto al Amor
Si conocemos algo de Elvis, sabemos que utilizada muy a menudo algunas pastillas, el filme los explica como una manera de alejar su ansiedad al no estar en el escenario, más que un adicto a las pastillas, era un adicto a la droga que supone el amor de sus fans. Al ver estas escenas podemos reflexionar lo que realmente vale la pena en la vida de cada persona, si bien la fama y la fortuna a veces no pueden llenar por completo a una persona, ¿Qué es lo que realmente nos hace felices?.

Un aspecto técnico resaltante es el apartado visual, me gustó mucho el manejo de las cámaras y aquellos efectos visuales que le imprimen más emoción al filme, este trabajo adopta estilos modernos con pinceladas de los años 70, la verdad que me gustó mucho el trabajo técnico de este filme, lo que nos otorga un drama más entretenido.
Actuaciones
Puedo reconocer el gran trabajo de Austin Butler, no me sorprende su nominación al Oscar, realmente es una actuación estupenda, teniendo en cuanta que no he visto muchos videos sobre el verdadero Elvis, por lo que no puedo hacer una comparación objetiva, sin embargo, en cuanta a actuación Butler se lleva todo mi respeto.
A pesar de que en esta ocasión todos los reflectores apuntan a Butler, me gustó mucho el trabajo de Tom Hanks, un personaje imprescindible para lograr un equilibrio en la trama, siempre he admirado a Hanks y en esta producción no decepciona, más bien sorprende porque observamos que le otorga vida a un personaje diferente a los que él acostumbra a interpretar, muy buen trabajo.

Esta es una película bastante entretenida, seas o no fan de Elvis Presley, el filme se introduce en una trama que a pesar de un metraje de casi 160 minutos, no resulta aburrida. Posee un buen ritmo y básicamente en ningún momento se siente lenta o pesada, posee aspectos emotivos que incluyen la autorrealización, la familia y la propia felicidad de las personas, por lo que nos deja un mensaje muy bueno.
La verdad que sin conocer mucho sobre este icónico artista norteamericano, más allá de cualquier información de cultura general o bien que me haya otorgado las películas y caricaturas, me gustó la historia y la narrativa este filme, creo que colocarlo desde la perspectiva de Tom Parker, termina siendo un acierto.
¿La Recomiendo?
Por supuesto, es un filme con 8 nominaciones a los premios Oscar, creo que es razón suficiente para tenerla en cuenta, sin embargo, pienso que fuera de todas esas nominaciones es una producción muy entretenida, vale la pena cada minuto de su metraje.
Quizás sea merecedora de algunas de las estatuillas, sin embargo, aunque no gane ninguna , me parece una muy buena producción.

Film Analysis
The film concentrates mainly from the perspective of Colonel Tom Parker, played by Tom Hanks, as Elvis' controversial manager. Although we don't know the story, the film starts from that point where we can place Parker himself as a hidden villain in the story, and then we are introduced to the musical beginnings of Elvis.
African-American style
We know that in the years of Elvis' youth, racism dominated America, and even musical artists who adopted African-American styles were discriminated against. I can recognize the great work of Austin Butler, I am not surprised by his Oscar nomination, it really is a great performance, considering that I have not seen many videos about the real Elvis, so I can not make an objective comparison, however, in terms of performance Butler gets all my respect.

It has a good pace and basically never feels slow or heavy, it has emotional aspects that include self-realisation, family and people's own happiness, so it leaves us with a very good message.
The truth is that without knowing much about this iconic American artist, beyond any information of general culture or that the films and cartoons have given me, I liked the story and the narrative of this film, I think that placing it from the perspective of Tom Parker, ends up being a success.
Do I recommend it?
Of course, it's a film with 8 Oscar nominations, I think that's reason enough to keep it in mind, however, I think that out of all those nominations it's a very entertaining production, worth every minute of its footage.
Maybe it deserves some of the statuettes, however, even if it doesn't win any, I think it's a very good production.
