Hola Hivers amantes de las películas, es un verdadero placer escribir nuevamente para todos ustedes en esta maravillosa plataforma. En esta nueva oportunidad quiero comentarles sobre una película que está a punto de cumplir 10 años, es una película que me gustó bastante hace algunos años al momento de verla. Se llama In Time o el precio del mañana para Hispanoamérica.
Esta es una película dirijida por Andrew Niccol y nos presenta un reparto bastante interesante, entre ellos algunos nombres que nos parecerán bastante conocidos, Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake, Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer y Vincent Kartheiser. Nos presentan una película de un futuro donde la vida se enlaza totalmente al dinero, convirtiendo el tiempo en la moneda principal.
Sinopsis:
En el año 2161 el dinero se ha convertido en el tiempo en que los ciudadanos pueden vivir, los trabajos se pagan con horas de vida y la existencia de los más pobres es muy limitada, sin embargo, los ricos pueden vivir siglos con todo el dinero, en este caso el tiempo acumulado por los trabajadores de las clases sociales más bajas. Will Salas un trabajador salta la barrera social que le impone el sistema con la esperanza de realizar un cambio y acabar con las injusticas que componen este nuevo sistema del tiempo.
Esta es una película de ciencia ficción distócica, donde se ha descubierto el gen que hace envejecer a los seres humanos, sin embargo, esta tecnología es utilizada en beneficio a la elite social cambiando el sistema monetario al de tiempo de vida, haciendo que los ricos vivan siglos mientras los pobres vivan literalmente día a día por su supervivencia.
Cada individuo tiene un reloj integrado a su cuerpo, este se activa a los 25 años de edad, la misma edad donde las personas dejan de envejecer y pasan al sistema monetario del tiempo. Comida, servicios, hospedaje, impuestos, todo se paga con tiempo, lo que hace que por cada pago el tiempo de supervivencia sea inferior. Al quedarse sin tiempo, es decir, cuando el reloj que llevan en el brazo llega a 0 la persona muere instantáneamente.
Atención, como es de costumbre en mis publicaciones, presentaré un resumen de las escenas de la película que más me llamaron la atención, lo que puede contener spoilers en el siguiente segmento del post. Como también es de costumbre les dejaré mi opinión y la calificación al final de este análisis.
Sociedad Dividida
Lo más llamativo además del hecho de utilizar el tiempo como moneda es la gran diferencia entre las clases sociales, lo que hace que los pobres apenas pasen de los 25 años mientras que la elite social tenga la posibilidad de vivir eternamente si así lo disponen. Evidentemente el autor presenta una protesta contra el sistema en el cual los bancos serían de los principales culpables de esta nueva sociedad.
Las personas para sobrevivir necesitan recurrir a préstamos con una tasa de interés elevada, pero desde el punto de vista de la supervivencia es mejor aceptar que simplemente quedar muerto a mitad de la calle, es por esa razón que oprimen a la clase baja a trabajar sin descanso viviendo al límite del tiempo en la mayoría de las ocasiones.
¿Vivir para Siempre?
En una de las escenas observamos que Henry Hamilton un millonario en tiempo es perseguido por una banda que se dedica a robar el tiempo, Will Salas, protagonista interpretado por Justin Timberlake, le ayuda a escapar, este millonario le cuenta al protagonista sobre un secreto que solo los de la elite social saben. Existe suficiente tiempo para todos, para que todas las personas puedan vivir cómodamente y por los años muchos años, sin embargo, los ricos acaparan el tiempo para vivir siglos dejando morir a la clase trabajadora luego de los 25 años. Esta sería una de las escenas claves para entender gran parte de la trama de la película.
Hamilton, abrumado por las injusticias y por su mente cansada debido a los 105 años decide transferir 100 años al reloj de Will y morir, en este punto sabemos que el cuerpo puede vivir más de lo que naturalmente está diseñado, sin embargo, la mente sufre efectos secundarios al vivir muchos años.
Contra el Sistema
La madre de Will debe llegar a casa y reencontrarse con su hijo, tiene el tiempo suficiente para montarse en el bus e ir a casa, sin embargo, la tarifa del bus había aumentado y no le dejan subir, ante esta situación decide correr antes de que su reloj llegue a 0, al encontrarse con Will su cuerpo cae en sus brazos, el sistema se ha cobrado otra víctima, el enojo de Will es tan grande que podemos asumir que desde esta escena tiene pensamientos de cómo reducir la injusticia de este sistema basado en el tiempo.
Will es perseguido por los guardianes del tiempo dirigidos por Raymond Leon, quien es interpretado por Cillian Murphy, famoso actor que interpretó a Tommy Shelby en la serie Peaky Blinders unos años después. Este guardián del tiempo presume que Will Salas asesina a Hamilton para robarle el tiempo, ya con su madre fallecida, Will escapa saliendo del gueto para ir a la zona de la elite social, encontrará en el camino costosos peajes que impiden a los pobres salir de gueto.
Poco después Will está en un ambiente nuevo para él, donde no tiene que correr, incluso compra un lujoso auto y se dirige a la mansión de un magnate que controla un gran banco de tiempo, allí conoce a Sylvia Weis hija del magnate Phillipe Weis. Creo que una de las mejores escenas de la película sin duda es la del juego de póker, donde Will apuesta todo su tiempo dejándole solo unos segundos de tiempo una escena que al ver por primera vez hace acelerar el corazón.
Más adelante Will secuestra a Sylvia, la cual se vuelve su cómplice por la lucha contra el sistema, deciden robar los bancos de tiempo, propiedad del padre de Sylvia y repartir el tiempo entre los pobres de gueto, sin embargo, la fuerza del sistema es abrumadora y les supera por mucho. Deciden ir por más.
Robo de un Millón de Años
Sylvia le confiesa a Will que su padre tiene una capsula de un millón de años en su oficina, entran y logran robar esta valiosa capsula para luego repartirla entre la gente del gueto. Se necesitaba un golpe de grandes magnitudes para hacer tambalear el sistema del tiempo. Los de gueto a tener muchos años en su reloj pueden abandonar los trabajos de las fábricas y caminar tranquilamente por los costosos peajes que Will había pasado al principio de la película, en ese momento se tambalea el sistema.
Si los trabajadores en el gueto la economía iba a empeorar significativamente, el millón de ellos había cobrado un gran efecto y posiblemente haciendo un efecto inflacionario en el tiempo en gran manera para sustentar el sistema, haciendo que muchas personas sufran una enorme consecuencia en el precio del tiempo. El sistema necesita de más golpes por eso Will y Sylvia se dedican a robar los grandes bancos de tiempo así como se presenta en la última escena de la película.

Si revisamos las críticas de esta película encontraremos una respuesta generalizada, que no se puede definir muy positiva pero tampoco negativa, es simplemente una cuestión de gustos entre todos los espectadores. En mi opinión es una muy buena película, llena de acción que siempre hace que el espectador se mantenga entretenido, llena de escenas bastante buenas y también emotivas.
Me parece que las actuaciones son sobresalientes sobre todo de parte de Timberlake y de Cillian Murphy, sin dejar a un lado las demás. La historia de ficción distópica también me parece bastante interesante, normalmente me gustan las películas con un entramado financiero y esta tenía ese aspecto dentro del intercambio del tiempo.
La verdad recomiendo ver esta película, en lo particular me gustó bastante hace algunos años que pude verla y creo que en general es una buena producción cinematográfica.
Interpretación y Mensaje
Queda abierta la interpretación, evidentemente es un sentido de protesta contra un sistema financiero liderado por grandes bancos, un enfoque representativo a un capitalismo destructivo y a la esclavitud a las clases sociales más bajas, sin embargo, el cambio o el desequilibrio en ese sistema pudo haber afectado negativamente a una gran cantidad de personas tanto de la elite como de los más pobres sobre todo los que no alcanzaron a recibir el tiempo. Esta interpretación queda a conclusión del espectador.

In this new opportunity I want to tell you about a movie that is about to turn 10 years old, it is a movie that I liked quite a lot some years ago when I saw it. It is called In Time or the price of tomorrow for Latin America.
This is a film directed by Andrew Niccol and presents us with a very interesting cast, including some names that will seem quite familiar, Amanda Seyfried, Justin Timberlake, Cillian Murphy, Olivia Wilde, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer and Vincent Kartheiser. We are presented with a film of a future where life is totally linked to money, making time the main currency.
Synopsis:
In the year 2161 money has become the time in which citizens can live, jobs are paid with hours of life and the existence of the poorest is very limited, however, the rich can live centuries with all the money, in this case the time accumulated by the workers of the lower social classes. Will Salas a worker jumps the social barrier imposed by the system in the hope of making a change and end the injustices that make up this new system of time.
This is a dystopian science fiction film, where the gene that makes human beings age has been discovered, however, this technology is used to benefit the social elite by changing the monetary system to that of life time, making the rich live centuries while the poor live literally day by day for their survival.
Each individual has a clock integrated into their body, this is activated at 25 years of age, the same age where people stop aging and move to the monetary system of time. Food, services, lodging, taxes, everything is paid for with time, which means that for each payment the survival time is less. When they run out of time, that is, when the clock on their arm reaches 0, the person dies instantly.
Attention, as usual in my publications, I will present a summary of the scenes of the movie that caught my attention, which may contain spoilers in the next segment of the post. As is also customary I will leave my opinion and rating at the end of this analysis.
Divided Society
The most striking thing besides the fact of using time as currency is the great difference between social classes, which makes the poor barely pass 25 years while the social elite has the possibility of living forever if they so choose. Evidently the author presents a protest against the system in which the banks would be one of the main culprits of this new society.
People to survive need to resort to loans with a high interest rate, but from the point of view of survival is better to accept than just being dead in the middle of the street, it is for that reason that they oppress the lower class to work tirelessly living at the limit of time in most occasions.
Living Forever?
In one of the scenes we observe that Henry Hamilton a millionaire in time is pursued by a gang that is dedicated to stealing time, Will Salas, protagonist played by Justin Timberlake, helps him escape, this millionaire tells the protagonist about a secret that only the social elite know. There is enough time for everyone, so that all people can live comfortably and for many years, however, the rich hoard the time to live for centuries, leaving the working class to die after the age of 25. This would be one of the key scenes in understanding much of the film's plot.
Hamilton, overwhelmed by the injustices and by his tired mind due to 105 years decides to transfer 100 years to Will's watch and die, at this point we know that the body can live longer than it is naturally designed to, however, the mind suffers side effects from living many years.
Against the System
Will's mother must get home and reunite with her son, she has enough time to get on the bus and go home, however, the bus fare had increased and they won't let her on, faced with this situation she decides to run before her clock reaches 0, upon meeting Will his body falls into her arms, the system has claimed another victim, Will's anger is so great that we can assume that from this scene he has thoughts of how to reduce the injustice of this time based system.
Will is pursued by the guardians of time led by Raymond Leon, who is played by Cillian Murphy, famous actor who played Tommy Shelby in the series Peaky Blinders a few years later. This time keeper presumes that Will Salas murders Hamilton to steal his time, already with his mother dead, Will escapes leaving the ghetto to go to the area of the social elite, he will find on the way expensive tolls that prevent the poor to leave the ghetto.
Soon after Will is in a new environment for him, where he doesn't have to run, he even buys a luxurious car and goes to the mansion of a tycoon who controls a big time bank, there he meets Sylvia Weis daughter of the tycoon Phillipe Weis. I think one of the best scenes of the film is undoubtedly the poker game, where Will bets all his time leaving him only a few seconds of time a scene that when you see for the first time makes the heart race.
Later Will kidnaps Sylvia, who becomes his accomplice in the fight against the system, they decide to steal the time banks, owned by Sylvia's father and distribute the time among the poor ghetto, however, the force of the system is overwhelming and overcomes them by far. They decide to go for more.
Million Year Robbery
Sylvia confesses to Will that her father has a million year capsule in his office, they break in and manage to steal this valuable capsule and then distribute it among the ghetto people. A coup of great magnitude was needed to shake the time system. The ghetto people to have many years on their watch can leave the factory jobs and walk quietly through the expensive tolls that Will had passed at the beginning of the film, at which point the system is shaken.

If we review the reviews of this movie we will find a generalized response, which can not be defined very positive but not negative either, it is simply a matter of taste among all viewers. In my opinion it is a very good movie, full of action that always keeps the viewer entertained, full of good and emotional scenes.
I think the performances are outstanding especially from Timberlake and Cillian Murphy, without leaving aside the others. I also find the dystopian fiction story quite interesting, I usually like movies with a financial backdrop and this one had that aspect within the time exchange.
I really recommend watching this movie, I particularly liked it a few years ago when I was able to see it and I think that in general it is a good film production.
Interpretation and Message
The interpretation is open, obviously it is a sense of protest against a financial system led by large banks, a representative approach to a destructive capitalism and slavery to the lower social classes, however, the change or imbalance in that system could have negatively affected a lot of people both the elite and the poorest especially those who did not reach the time. This interpretation is left to the conclusion of the viewer.
