Como muchos sabrán, esta película es una secuela de Top Gun, estrenada en 1986, más de tres décadas presentar un nuevo filme en este universo que tiene a Tom Cruise como el gran protagonista. En mi caso particular, no he visto esta primera película, se estrenó antes que yo naciera y la verdad no es de esos filmes tan recordados por el público, así que siendo completamente sincero no la había escuchado antes de que se estrenara esta nueva película en el 2022.
Mis expectativas eran altas debido a que se trata de un enfoque que particularmente los norteamericanos siempre abarcan de buena manera, el orgullo de su ejército junto al patriotismo, algo que si observamos en distintos filmes, un gran porcentaje de este tipo de producciones termina por obtener buena aceptación en el público general.
Sinopsis:
Pete "Mavericks" trabaja como piloto de prueba, sin embargo, sus extraordinarias habilidades en el aire son requeridas para una misión especial de la marina estadounidense, su misión no es volar, es enseñarle a los jóvenes pilotos de la academia de elite Top Gun a cumplir lo que parece una misión imposible.

Una de las características que enorgullece a los norteamericanos, un símbolo patriota, nada mejor para un filme que presentar a la poderosa fuerza armada, en este caso unos pilotos con habilidades muy superiores a las de cualquier piloto en el mundo, nos encanta escuchar "lo mejor de lo mejor" y este es el caso, los mejores pilotos de un grupo elite serán seleccionados para la misión.
Misión
Si hablamos de pilotos de elite y a esa misma fórmula le colocamos a Tom Cruise, esperaríamos no menos que una misión imposible o suicida (en una primera instancia), el filme se estructura bajo ese argumento, otra misión imposible para Tom Cruise, sin embargo, bajo otro enfoque, enseñar a la nueva generación, eso me agrada, tanto en el filme como en las diferentes producciones, darle paso a los talentos jóvenes para ser protagonistas.
En esta misión las habilidades y literalmente sus cuerpos estarán al límite, lo que le inyecta mucha emoción al desarrollo del filme. Aunque ocurre lo que esperamos en esta trama predecible, es algo que al igual que otras características, nos gusta.

Algo que me llama mucho la atención es ese estilo norteamericano que se muestra en cada escena, lentos oscuros en gran parte de las escenas, atardeceres en la costa, incluso un juego de futbol americano entre los pilotos, un bar y cervezas y ese ferviente patriotismo. Características que hemos visto, pero que siempre nos cautivan.
Este filme posee de todo un poco, incluso hay un poco de drama y que cuyo origen es sostenido por la primera película de Top Gun, esto sin dudas le otorga nostalgia para aquellos que disfrutaron de ese filme en la década de los 80.
La Chica
Es un cliché de la industria del cine, y es que este filme también tiene espacio para el romance, que si bien es añejado por el tiempo, todavía florece la pasión, otra de esas características que se combina muy bien en un filme de acción como este.
Tom Cruise:
No podemos hablar de esta película sin apartar un espacio para un icono del cine norteamericano, Tom Cruise es un actor que ya tiene 60 años de edad, quizás para muchos es la razón principal para ver esta película y me parece que realiza un buen trabajo en ella, se le sigue viendo cómodo a Cruise al menos en esta película, esperemos seguirle viendo en la gran pantalla.

Este filme fue nominado a dos categorías en la última entrega de los globos de oro, si bien no gano en ninguna de sus nominaciones, llama la atención su nominación en la mejor película (drama), a mi parecer, es una película de acción y aventuras, aunque posee drama es muy poco, me parece que era una nominación totalmente perdida para este filme, pero que además deja afuera a otras películas centradas en el género dramático.
Hace algunos días, En un programa de discord (de otra comunidad en Hive) se habló de este tema y concuerdo en que no es un filme para ganar el premio de mejor película dramática, pienso que está muy lejos de serlo, ya que el filme se inclina más hacia otros géneros.

A pesar de que en este post puedo nombrar características repetidas que encontramos en muchos otros guiones de la industria del cine, puedo decir que el filme logra el objetivo y cumple con las expectativas. Posee un desarrollo correcto y emocionante, hay lugar para todo en este filme y con ese toque norteamericano que a muchos nos agrada.

Sí, es de esas películas que se pueden recomendar abiertamente, la mayoría del público aceptará y se dejará llevar por el encanto magnético que posee este tipo de producciones hollywoodenses, es de esas películas que pueden verse en solitario o en una tarde con amigos, algunas cervezas y quizás una pizza. Pienso que en general es un filme que cumple con las expectativas, por lo que la recomiendo abiertamente.
