Hola Hivers amantes de las películas y series, es un enorme placer escribir como siempre en esta comunidad, una comunidad que va creciendo y que realmente me siento orgulloso de participar. En ocasiones nos recomiendas películas conociendo de antemano parte de nuestros gustos, este fue el caso en esta oportunidad, @jcrodriguez me recomienda esta producción diciendo un “tal vez te guste”, teniendo como referencia a todas las reseñas que he posteado y en las calificaciones que le doy a esas películas, ante esta recomendación decidí verla sin ver el tráiler u otra información para generar un poco más de sorpresas.
Anteriormente había realizado una reseña de una película protagonizada por Ben Affleck que me agradó bastante, el nombre de esa es El Contador, un buen trabajo realizado por este famoso actor junto al director Gavin O'Connor, En lo particular pienso que conforman un buen equipo de trabajo y en tanto el Contador como en The Way Back se demuestra un gran trabajo a favor del espectáculo y de presentar una buena historia al espectador.
Sinopsis:
Esta es una película con un basamento emotivo, la estructura de la trama se desarrolla alrededor de Jack Cunningham, un hombre que ha pasado por situaciones verdaderamente difíciles en su vida y lo llevan a sumirse en el mundo del alcohol, sin embargo, una oportunidad para ser entrenador de baloncesto a jóvenes estudiantes puede cambiarle la vida y regresarlo al camino correcto
Análisis de la Película
Esta película comienza con Jack sumido en lo que parece un problema de adicción al alcohol, su comportamiento lo lleva a beber todos los días y a cada instante, en la película notaremos que en gran parte de toda la trama estará consumiendo alcohol, sin embargo, no siempre tuvo esa vida, en secundaria fue el jugador estrella del equipo con tal grado de fama que muchos lo reconocen a pesar de que trascurrieron décadas desde que Jack ha pisado una cancha de baloncesto, esto en momentos nos lleva a pesar o a preguntarnos lo que le sucedió a Jack para convertirse en el hombre que observamos.
Poco a poco se van revelando los asuntos más íntimos de este hombre que pasaba la mayor parte del día en un bar, descubriremos que su familia y amigos se preocupan mucho por el bienestar de Jack y sobre todo para sacarlo de ese agujero en el que estaba.
Tiene la posibilidad de entrenar a un equipo de jóvenes, el equipo no había llegado lejos desde que el mismo jugaba en esa cancha, veían en el la posibilidad de un cambio a favor para esos jóvenes deportistas, pero ante mucha duda y cervezas de por medio Jack acepta esta responsabilidad.
En este punto podríamos pensar que simplemente no es apto para el puesto, de hecho el también lo cree y en nuestra cabeza resuena el hecho de que debería ordenar su vida desastrosa para poder trasmitir positivamente a los jóvenes, ante esta situación podríamos predecir un desastre, sin embargo, al trascurrir la película notamos que Jack debe enfrentar asuntos de su pasado empezado por la relación con su padre y por la cual jugaba al baloncesto, es decir que tal vez el mismo Jack necesitaba más del equipo que al contrario como todos pensaban.
Observaremos escenas verdaderamente emotivas, luchas con el pasado y contra sí mismo tomando como refugio las botellas de alcohol pero al mismo tiempo redescubriéndose y volviendo al sendero correcto. Jack ve a los jóvenes que entrena más que como simples jugadores e incluso se ve reflejado en ellos por lo cual desea que demuestren su máximo potencial.
Luego de transcurrir los minutos entendemos el terrible acontecimiento que cambio la vida de Jack, entendiendo de alguna manera al personaje interpretado por Affleck lo que hace reflexionar al espectador y derrumbando gran parte de algunos prejuicios sobre Jack, debemos tener en cuenta que cada aspecto del pasado influye directamente en la personalidad de la persona y que si no se es sanado se convertirá en un obstáculo para seguir adelante.
Historia
En cuanto a la historia es evidente que es un drama envuelto en una trama de adicción y posterior superación, en ese sentido podemos decir que la película es bastante predecible en ciertos aspectos, pero la manera en que el guion nos cuenta esta repetida historia realmente causa la diferencia. En lo particular pienso que el guion fue muy bien trabajado y aunque tal vez sepamos lo que puede acontecer en la película no deja de generar emociones que sobresalen de la pantalla.
Me encanta el aspecto de que este entrenador simplemente estaba en un punto muy bajo de su vida, pero aun así pudo sacar lo mejor de sus jóvenes deportistas en algunos casos resaltando dotes de liderazgo y de disciplina que estaban escondidos pero que eran una parte fundamental si el equipo quería avanzar en el campeonato.
En otras película notamos la dependencia de los deportistas con respecto a ese entrenador carismático y motivador, sin embargo, en esta historia posiblemente Jack necesitaba más entrenar a este equipo de lo que pensaba dejando de lado el argumento del entrenador perfecto y optimista, en su lugar colocan a un entrenador con terribles problemas de alcoholismo y un carácter atroz.
Actuación:
Al nombrar al Affleck como protagonista de una película tal vez pensemos que actuará como un súper héroe o por lo menos como un hombre excepcional con armamento combatiendo el crimen, sin embargo, en esta producción lo vemos interpretando un personaje que en un principio está en lo más bajo desde el punto de vista social, económico, familiar y psicológico.
Particularmente pienso que es de las mejores actuaciones de Affleck, un actor criticado en algunas oportunidades por su falta de expresiones, en esta producción su personaje es vital para trasmitir las emociones y pienso que lo hace realmente bien, he quedado sorprendido con esta actuación debido a que no es de los típicos personajes que interpreta el actor.

Opinión Final
Esta es una película de drama que nos muestra tal vez una historia que hemos visto en otras películas de superación pero con detalles que nos permiten disfrutar de esta producción de manera única, me parece importante resaltar el trabajo de Ben Affleck y de Gavin O'Connor, parece que pueden hacer buenas películas.
Tal vez el punto más negativo de esta película es que se puede predecir lo que suceda, en mi caso no vi ninguna información al respecto, sin embargo, pude adelantarme en la trama muchas veces siguiendo el guion de las típicas películas con pocas sorpresas.
¿La Recomiendo?
Sí, es una película bastante emotiva y con una muy buena historia de motivación y superación con un muy buen mensaje. No importa si sabes de baloncesto o no lo que importa es sentir las emociones y las enseñanzas que va dejando la película. La recomiendo sobre todo para ese familiar o amigo que siempre llora en las películas todos tenemos uno.

Previously I had made a review of a film starring Ben Affleck that I liked quite a bit, the name of that one is The Accountant, a good work done by this famous actor along with director Gavin O'Connor, In particular I think they make a good team work and in both The Accountant as in The Way Back a great job in favor of the show and to present a good story to the viewer is demonstrated.
Synopsis:

Movie Analysis
This film begins with Jack immersed in what seems to be a problem of alcohol addiction, his behavior leads him to drink every day and every moment, in the film we will notice that in much of the entire plot will be consuming alcohol, however, he did not always have that life, in high school he was the star player of the team with such a degree of fame that many recognize it despite the fact that decades have passed since Jack has stepped on a basketball court, this at times leads us to regret or wonder what happened to Jack to become the man we see.
Little by little the more intimate affairs of this man who spent most of his day in a bar are revealed, we will discover that his family and friends are very concerned about Jack's well being and above all to get him out of that hole he was in.
He has the opportunity to coach a team of young people, the team had not gone far since he played on that court, they saw in him the possibility of a change in favor of these young athletes, but after much doubt and beers in between Jack accepts this responsibility.
At this point we could think that he is simply not suitable for the job, in fact he also believes it and in our head resonates the fact that he should order his disastrous life to be able to transmit positively to young people, in this situation we could predict a disaster, however, as the film progresses we notice that Jack must face issues of his past started by the relationship with his father and why he played basketball, that is to say that maybe Jack himself needed more of the team than the opposite as everyone thought.

As for the story it is evident that it is a drama wrapped in a plot of addiction and subsequent overcoming, in that sense we can say that the film is quite predictable in certain aspects, but the way in which the script tells us this repeated story really makes a difference. In particular I think the script was very well crafted and although we may know what may happen in the film does not fail to generate emotions that stand out from the screen.
I love the aspect that this coach was simply at a very low point in his life, but even so he was able to get the best out of his young athletes in some cases highlighting leadership and discipline that were hidden but were a fundamental part if the team wanted to advance in the championship.
In other movies we notice the dependence of the athletes with respect to that charismatic and motivating coach, however, in this story possibly Jack needed more to coach this team than he thought leaving aside the argument of the perfect and optimistic coach, in his place they place a coach with terrible alcoholism problems and an atrocious character.
Performance:
When naming Affleck as the protagonist of a movie maybe we think that he will act as a super hero or at least as an exceptional man with weaponry fighting crime, however, in this production we see him playing a character that in the beginning is at the lowest from a social, economic, family and psychological point of view.
I particularly think this is one of Affleck's best performances, an actor criticized on some occasions for his lack of expressions, in this production his character is vital to convey emotions and I think he does it really well, I was surprised with this performance because it is not one of the typical characters played by the actor.

This is a drama movie that shows us perhaps a story that we have seen in other movies of overcoming but with details that allow us to enjoy this production in a unique way, I think it is important to highlight the work of Ben Affleck and Gavin O'Connor, it seems that they can make good movies.
Perhaps the most negative point of this film is that you can predict what happens, in my case I did not see any information about it, however, I could get ahead in the plot many times following the script of the typical movies with few surprises.
Do I recommend it?
Yes, it is a very emotional movie with a very good story of motivation and overcoming with a very good message. It doesn't matter if you know about basketball or not, what matters is to feel the emotions and the teachings that the movie leaves behind. I recommend it especially for that family member or friend who always cries at the movies, we all have one.
