Hola Hivers amantes de las películas y series, en esta ocasión quiero comentar para todos una película Europea que capto mi atención, esta producción está disponible en Netflix un nos promete una historia de supervivencia bastante interesante. Esta película capta mi atención debido a que en los últimos años se ha producido un debate entre grandes potencias sobre Groenlandia y el ártico en general así que podría verse esta producción como un mensaje implícito sobre política. Les compartiré mi opinión sobre el film y sobre algunas pequeñas curiosidades que rodean esta producción que eleva su importancia en la actualidad.
Esta producción es un trabajo conjunto entre Islandia y Dinamarca, he hecho referencia a buenas producciones europeas y Dinamarca es uno de los que posee una evolución interesante en el séptimo arte, es un país a tomar en cuenta para los films dramáticos, Netflix y quizás veremos muchas más producciones de esta región en el futuro cercano. Esta película muestra un tema relevante para el país nórdico, se basa en un territorio que aun se encuentra bajo su administración y como logran conseguir ese objetivo ante la incesante mirada de otras potencias.
Sinopsis:
La expedición Dinamarca (1909) se dirigida por el capitán Ejnar Mikkelsen, su misión es encontrar los documentos perdidos de otra expedición pasada para esclarecer los límites de Groenlandia. Una misión donde solo dos aventureros acceden a realizar un viaje de meses en el hielo es la que puede determinar el futuro de esta zona del ártico.
Análisis de la Película
Esta historia basada en hechos reales es bastante interesante, para los amantes de la supervivencia despierta una buena sensación solamente al leer la sinopsis, un viaje que los mismos exploradores de la película definen que es el equivalente de caminar desde Moscú a Roma, con la diferencia del frio ártico, terrenos peligrosos y falta de recursos que hacen que este viaje sea apenas posible.
Creo que muy pocas personas estarían dispuestas en realiza un viajes de esta magnitud, teniendo en cuenta que la película se desarrolla en 1909, donde los exploradores no cuentan con toda la tecnología e instrumentación que existe en la actualidad. Solo la experiencia, los conocimientos en supervivencia y cartografía se convierten en sus recursos más preciados ante la posibilidad de perderse en un territorio donde absolutamente nadie los buscará. Conocemos la vasta extensión de Groenlandia solo al ver un mapa, pero además debemos añadir la dificultad de navegación en sus costas por el hielo, los frágiles barcos de madera solo pueden llegar a la zona de reencuentro en verano, aumentando así las posibilidades de morir congelado o por inanición si la misión no es completada en el rango de tiempo establecido.
Todos estos son detalles que van condimentando a la historia y que hace que esa sensación de supervivencia sea condicionada por innumerables factores, en lo particular disfruto de este tipo de historias conociendo todos estos detalles que sin duda se van agregando al film y que produce sensaciones en el espectador, sabiendo que hubo personas reales en esa misma situación desesperada.
Supervivencia
Este es un viaje extremadamente largo y extremadamente peligroso, sin embargo, esa sensación de supervivencia se queda corta en comparación a otros films de este género, la película se introduce más en el drama que en la acción que pueda desencadenar esta travesía, en el cine hemos visto muchas películas de supervivencia con un ritmo vertiginoso que nos hace liberar adrenalina en nuestro cuerpo, esta producción no intenta imitar estos films.
La película se aleja de la aventura dinámica para introducirse en el tipo de supervivencia donde los recursos se convierten en el principal motivo de preocupación, este aspecto comienza a jugar con la mente del espectador, dando la sensación de que muy pronto se quedarán sin alimento, pudiendo morir o buscar otras soluciones no muy agradables para seguir con vida. Ir viendo como se van agotando los recursos es algo que hace mantener la atención en la película.
Fotografía
La fotografía es de muy buena calidad, incluso por momentos sentiremos ese intenso frío que sobresale de la pantalla. Lo que más me ha gustado de este aspecto son los paisajes, un manto blanco interminable que se extiende en el horizonte, los juegos de cámara también tienen un rol importante en esa aventura.
El aspecto visual es importante para transmitir esa sensación de supervivencia, es evidente que no nos encontramos en un lugar cómodo y mucho menos amigable con los protagonistas, la fotografía nos los deja ver con muy buenas tomas. Desde mi punto de vista la calidad visual de esta producción es uno de los aspectos más resaltantes.
Actuaciones
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau interpreta al capitán de la expedición, un hombre con mucha experiencia y apasionado por su labor, desea que le recuerde y esta es su oportunidad. La actuación es buena, otorgándonos un personaje con varias facetas. Su actuación se vuelve más significativa en la segunda mitad de la película.
El otro personaje con gran importancia es el interpretado por el actor llamado Joe Cole, personifica a un inexperto en este tipo de expediciones, pero el único con el valor y el deseo de acompañar al capitán en la travesía. Esta es una combinación muy conocida en el mundo del entretenimiento, el experimentado guiando al novato en una muy peligrosa travesía, en lo particular me gusta ver películas con ese tipo de combinaciones, sobre todo, cuando las actuaciones logran trasmitir emociones.
Una buena actuación de ambos pero no es algo que sobresalga dentro del género dramático. Los protagonistas de la aventura conforman un dúo con mucha química y es interesante ver a este par de aventureros muy diferentes entre sí enfrentar las adversidades del ártico.
¿Alguna Intención Política de Esta Película?
Desde una opinión muy personal pienso que esta película lleva un mensaje implícito que Dinamarca desea que la mayor cantidad de personas conozcan. Groenlandia es un territorio administrado desde Dinamarca, recordemos que Estados Unidos bajo la presidencia de Trump ofreció comprar Groenlandia, obviamente los daneses se negaron y esto tuvo una respuesta negativa del presidente de aquel entonces.
Todo este asunto político es debido a que las potencias han adquirido mucho interés en el ártico, con el calentamiento global (aunque lamentable) ha hecho más navegable muchas zonas en estas aguas abriendo la posibilidad de nuevas rutas comerciales y también explorar los recursos naturales que yacen bajo la superficie. Groenlandia es un territorio con mucha importancia en la geopolítica actual, una zona donde conoceremos más noticias en los próximos años y este tipo de películas históricas de cierta manera busca afirmar dentro de la opinión publica que Groenlandia es parte del Reino de Dinamarca, colocando una especie de bandera en el séptimo arte sobre esa expedición donde acaban con las pretensiones norteamericanas de dividir ese territorio. Es una manera de expresarse y hacerse sentir.

La película es entretenida, logra combinar una buena calidad visual y una historia real que se embarca en una aventura de supervivencia, combinaciones que pueden resultar de entretenimiento para muchos, pienso que aun queda lejos de otras películas que tocan temas similares, sin embargo, nos demuestra que las producciones Danesas pueden ser de agrado para muchos espectadores. Pienso que esta película es especial para este país nórdico debido al tema que aborda.
No es de esas películas donde fluye la adrenalina, los efectos especiales pero si se encamina a esa supervivencia sobre los limitados recursos, aunque hay destellos de acción, no son significativos en el film sino que van complementando la historia remarcando la dificultad de esta importante travesía.
¿La Recomiendo?
Si, pienso que puede gustar a un buen segmento del publico, la película nos presenta distintas etapas en el cual se va desarrollando esa marcada historia de supervivencia, es un film que apunta a una sección grande de publico, aunque para los que buscan la acción como protagonista pueden sentir esta película algo fría.

All these are details that spice up the story and make the feeling of survival conditioned by countless factors, I particularly enjoy this kind of stories knowing all these details that undoubtedly are added to the film and that produces feelings in the viewer, knowing that there were real people in that same desperate situation.

This is an extremely long and extremely dangerous journey, however, that feeling of survival falls short compared to other films of this genre, the film is introduced more in the drama than in the action that can trigger this journey, in the cinema we have seen many survival films with a breakneck pace that makes us release adrenaline in our body, this production does not try to imitate these films.
The film moves away from the dynamic adventure to get into the type of survival where resources become the main concern, this aspect begins to play with the viewer's mind, giving the feeling that very soon they will run out of food, may die or seek other solutions not very pleasant to stay alive. Seeing how the resources are running out is something that keeps the attention in the film.
Photography
The photography is of very good quality, even at times we will feel that intense cold that stands out from the screen. What I liked most about this aspect are the landscapes, an endless white blanket that stretches on the horizon, the camera games also play an important role in this adventure.
The visual aspect is important to transmit that feeling of survival, it is evident that we are not in a comfortable place and much less friendly with the protagonists, the photography lets us see them with very good shots. From my point of view the visual quality of this production is one of the most outstanding aspects.
Performances
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau plays the captain of the expedition, a man with a lot of experience and passionate about his work, he wants to be remembered and this is his chance. The performance is good, giving us a character with several facets. His performance becomes more significant in the second half of the film.
The other character with great importance is the one played by the actor named Joe Cole, he personifies an inexperienced in this type of expeditions, but the only one with the courage and desire to accompany the captain on the voyage. This is a very well known combination in the entertainment world, the experienced guiding the novice in a very dangerous journey, I particularly like to see films with such combinations, especially when the performances manage to convey emotions.
A good performance from both but not something that stands out within the dramatic genre. The protagonists of the adventure form a duo with a lot of chemistry and it is interesting to see this pair of very different adventurers face the adversities of the arctic.
Any Political Intentions of this Movie?
From a very personal opinion I think this film carries an implicit message that Denmark wants as many people as possible to know. Greenland is a territory administered from Denmark, let's remember that the United States under Trump's presidency offered to buy Greenland, obviously the Danes refused and this had a negative response from the president of that time.
This whole political issue is due to the fact that the powers have acquired much interest in the Arctic, with global warming (although regrettable) has made many areas in these waters more navigable opening the possibility of new trade routes and also explore the natural resources that lie beneath the surface. Yes, I think it can please a good segment of the public, the film presents different stages in which the marked story of survival is developing, it is a film that aims to a large section of the public, although for those looking for action as the protagonist may feel this film a little cold.
