Movie Review #42 - American Made - Pablo Escobar's key man

Review by @josalarcon2 · 2471d · of American Made · 1 view

Pablo Escobar, one of the most powerful criminals in Colombia and the world during a time when cocaine was a kind of magic powder capable of putting common men in high spheres of power, a powder that was the economic tool used to socially devastate a country like Colombia, but the question is how the hell did Pablo Escobar move his magic powder to the United States so easily, well the answer is very simple Barry Seal.

# American Made is a film that tells the personal story of one of the bravest, most extreme and risky pilots of a time when drug trafficking and smuggling ruled the world; all through testimonies of the protagonist himself that give it a very funny and different atmosphere to the plot, because we see the facts told directly from the person who lived them, a man who took advantage of his privileged situation while serving as a kind of spy pilot for the FBI and the CIA to ally with Pablo Escobar and thus fill his pocket (and his land) with hundreds of millions of dollars. Throughout the film we see how Barry Seal began making reconnaissance and espionage flights for the CIA and FBI to quickly become the clandestine smuggler of both American security agencies that used him to transport all kinds of things, something that led this man to take advantage of the resources that these security agencies gave him to also make his personal flights carrying the magic dust of Pablo Escobar. #

# The whole movie is super entertaining, especially because we see Tom Cruise in a lighter role and without so much action that allows him to highlight his performance, something he handles perfectly because he manages to transmit all the cynicism and brazenness of a man who made the most of every situation in which he was put to fill his pockets with cash, a family man who lived to please his wife and to make his life an entertaining show. The way in which we see develop the facts and especially the life of Barry Seal is great because we have an inside to the life of a man who had so much money that no longer had where to keep it, a man who despite facing constant dangers was dedicated to enjoying the pleasures of life to the fullest, in short, a fun and charismatic man who simply got the wrong job. #

# The great thing about this movie is that it is full of comedy and simplicity, here we don't see those dramatic moments that try to give us negative lessons about the use and distribution of drugs, here we have an entertaining story of someone who took advantage of his skills transporting merchandise and doing favors to different security agencies in America. The whole development of the film is great because it allows building a light atmosphere that will let us appreciate the most entertaining details in the life of a man who was in very extreme situations but in the end were fun. This is a movie that showcases emotion and comedy through scenes that begin being intense but end up being super entertaining because of the different twists that give the plot. For example, that scene **-SPOILER-** where the police, the DEA, the FBI and the Marshall try to arrest Barry at the same time and he tries to bribe them all, oh God! I remember that scene and I laugh out loud.

Undoubtedly a very funny film with a very interesting story that lets us explore the life of a key man in the entire operation of drug trafficking of Pablo Escobar told through testimonies and real material that gives much strength to the plot, but above all make it extremely enjoyable.
