The world of superheroes has progressively taken over with the majority of streaming services available, and the truth is that the vast majority are usually entertaining, not perfect recreations but really fun series to see, however, there are some that start not as well as they should and continue with some strong points that make it stand out but that do not succeed in strengthening the plot and much less the series. Well, Black Lightning is an example of that, a series that has good elements but that it can't get me hooked on it.

However, the true plot of the series begins to develop from a series of crimes that force our retired hero to resume his past life and return to the streets to face the criminals who are tirelessly lashing the town where he and his family live. Then basically the series introduces us to a retired hero who goes back to his old habits and decides to start fighting old enemies again, old enemies who are waiting for him with great eagerness to kill him; however the story gets complicated when his two daughters begin to be involved in this whole world of superheroes and crime-fighting after they both begin to discover that their father is a superhero and that they also have powers they can use to help people.

In general, the plot develops at a very good pace, nothing happens in an accelerated way or ignoring important details, which allows us to see the growths of two young people who little by little are forging their way, two young people who like their father feel the vocation to help and who are willing to do it in any way they can. The plot as you can imagine is not the most creative but if it becomes very entertaining by all the social contrasts that we see regularly, the really heavy and that does not finish making this a better series is the fact that the story seems to fall behind, ie we do not see great advances what makes the series feel filled with unnecessary scenes and moments that do not bring anything important to the plot.

As I said, the plot is full of very good scenes, action scenes that are complemented with some drama to make it more intense and above all, it combines very well with the atmosphere of the characters because they feel adult scenes and not just superficial scenes of a superhero.

The series certainly lacks a balance that allows it to strengthen its plot, to highlight more, the contrast of good and bad moments feels too much and that is something that takes a lot of strength out of the series and does not let it take off. I can't say that I got bored, but I don't fully enjoy it either, I think that this series has potential but it should focus more on the good parts and above all on giving more continuity to its characters so that they grow and give us more climax, more action, and less unnecessary drama.
