[Animation review] [Eng | Esp] Luck | The world of luck is interesting

Welcome my dear lucky internet travelers and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, when talking about animated films the most common thing is that the studios that come to mind are the best known ones such as Disney, DreamWorks, Illumination, among others, that is why I was curious about the film “Luck” because it seemed interesting despite being from an animation studio that I did not know and being an original Apple product. Without further ado, prepare to adapt to bad luck because we are about to begin.

Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros suertudos del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, cuando se habla de películas animadas lo más común es que los estudios que se vienen a la mente son los más conocidos como Disney, DreamWorks, Illumination, entre otros, es por ello que me causo curiosidad el filme “Luck” debido a que parecía interesante pese a ser de un estudio de animación que no conocía y de ser un producto original de Apple. Sin más que agregar prepárense para adaptarse a la mala suerte pues estamos por comenzar.

Luck was released in 2022, directed by Peggy Holmes, produced by Skydance Animation and Apple Original Films, and has a duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It is a comedy and adventure animation, the story focuses on    Sam Greenfield, an orphan who turned 18 and must leave the orphanage to begin her life as an adult, the thing is that all this is extremely complicated due to the terrible luck that she is possesses, this will be a crucial factor when he encounters a magical being in charge of distributing luck and with this he must embark on an adventure to save the world from his new friend.

Luck fue estrenada en 2022, dirigida por Peggy Holmes, producida por Skydance Animation y Apple Original Films, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 45 minutos. Es una animación de comedia y aventuras, la historia se centra en    Sam Greenfield una huérfana que cumplió 18 años y debe abandonar el orfanato para comenzar su vida como adulta, el asunto es que todo esto se complica de sobremanera debido a la terrible suerte que está posee, esto será un factor crucial cuando se tope con un ser mágico encargado de distribuir la suerte y con este deberá embarcarse en una aventura para salvar el mundo de su nuevo amigo.

The animation it has is pleasant, it draws on more well-known styles but also dares to give it its personal touch, the details are well done and the fluidity is palpable and both elements combine very well with the color palette that transmits that mythological essence and magical, broadly speaking this study leaves a good first impression.

La animación que tiene es agradable, bebe de estilos más conocidos pero también se atreve a darle su toque personal, los detalles están bien logrados y la fluidez es palpable siendo que ambos elementos combinan muy bien con la paleta de colores que transmiten esa esencia mitológica y mágica, a grandes rasgos este estudio deja una buena primera impresión.

The soundtrack is fine, it doesn't have truly unforgettable moments or anything similar, it is well done in general terms but it doesn't really have any original elements.

La banda sonora está bien, no tiene momentos realmente inolvidables ni nada que se le asemeje, se encuentra bien lograda a grandes rasgos pero no tiene verdaderamente ningún elemento original.

The world building is charming, the magical context is pleasant and I like the way it builds the various elements that represent both good and bad luck, this setting is well done and gives the world it creates that magical touch. that it's supposed to have.

La construcción de mundo es encantadora, el contexto mágico es agradable y me gusta la forma en que construye los diversos elementos que representan tanto la buena como la mala suerte, esta ambientación se encuentra bien lograda y produce que el mundo que plantea tenga ese toque mágico que se supone debería tener.

The plot is quite simple, the adventure is pleasant and the jokes are simple but they fulfill their function, the combination of the previous elements is linked with the moments of fantasy that keep the film interesting at all times. The narrative remains simple, however it is curious that it introduces the theme of a different family. By the above I am not referring to LGBT families or anything similar, but to those people who, despite not sharing blood ties remain a pillar of unconditional support and form a place where you feel loved and safe, a pleasant concept that is approached in a good way. The duration is well used, at no point does it feel dull or excessively long, every minute is used in a good way to correctly develop the premise.

La trama es bastante sencilla, la aventura es agradable y los chistes son simples pero cumplen su función, la combinación de los anteriores elementos se liga con los momentos de fantasía que mantienen interesante al filme en todo momento. La narrativa se mantiene en la línea de la simpleza, no obstante es curioso el hecho de que introduzca el tema de una familia diferente, con lo anterior no me refiero a familias LGBT ni nada que se le asemeje, sino a aquellas personas que pese a no compartir lazos sanguíneos se mantienen como un pilar de apoyo incondicional y que conforman un lugar donde sentirse amado y seguro, un concepto agradable que es abordado de buena forma. La duración es bien utilizada, en ningún momento se siente sosa ni con una extensión excesiva, cada minuto es usado de buena forma para desarrollar correctamente la premisa.

The characters broadly have a well-done characterization and are generally pleasant, the way the protagonists interact and how the relationship between them arises is pleasing, it feels very organic and natural, they do not become deep in any way but They still have decent personalities. It is curious that there is no type of antagonist or villain, although I am not a fan of this, it is not something that harms the film, it knows how to work the rest of its elements in a good way so that this lack is not detrimental.

Los personajes tienen a grandes rasgos una caracterización bien lograda y son en general agradables, da gusto la forma en que interactúan los protagonistas y el cómo surge la relación entre estos, se siente muy orgánica y natural, no llegan a ser profundos de ninguna forma pero igual tienen personalidades decentes. Es curioso que no existe ninguna clase de antagonista o vilano, pese a que no soy fanático de esto, no es algo que perjudique al filme, sabe trabajar de buena forma el resto de sus elementos para que esta carencia no sea perjudicial.

Luck is a quite jovial and pleasant film, it is interesting the way it represents the concepts of good and bad luck, as well as the reflection that these cannot be decisive elements in our lives, broadly speaking, everything that it puts in works well. on the table. It is for all of the above that it deserves 3.5 stars out of 7, a quite entertaining film that has the potential to carve out a place in the world of big screen animation.

Luck es un filme bastante jovial y agradable, es interesante la forma en que representa los conceptos de la buena y mala suerte, así como la reflexión de que estos no pueden ser elementos decisivos en nuestra vida, a grandes rasgos trabaja bien todo lo que pone sobre la mesa. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 3.5 estrellas de 7, una cinta bastante entretenida que tiene potencial para abrirse un lugar en el mundo de la animación de la gran pantalla.
