Welcome dear suspense-loving internet travelers and thank you very much for making a temporary stop in my post, I was postponing seeing this movie since there were many people watching it and reviewing it, and now that we are in October I remembered that it was on my list, the thing is that the film "The Black Phone" is one of those recent installments belonging to the genre that promises to be a good representative of horror movies. Bienvenidos queridos viajeros del internet amantes del suspenso y muchas gracias por hacer una parada temporal en mi post, estuve posponiendo ver esta película puesto que había mucha gente viéndola y reseñándola, y, ahorita que estamos en octubre recordé que estaba en mi lista, la cosa es que el filme "The Black Phone" es una de esas entregas recientes pertenecientes al género que promete ser un buen representante del cine de terror. Sin más que agregar diríjanse hasta el teléfono que está sonando y deben contestar.

The Black Phone was released in 2021, directed by Scott Derrickson and produced by Blumhouse Productions, it has a duration of 1 hour and 42 minutes. It is a supernatural horror film, the film is set in 1974 in the suburbs of Denver, Colorado, in this apparent tranquility there is a huge problem and it is due to the existence of a kidnapper nicknamed 'The Raptor' who has been awarded the fact of marauding and kidnapping multiple children, so the protagonist must not only face that terrible depraved but also his own fears and internal problems.
The Black Phone fue estrenada en 2021, dirigida por Scott Derrickson y producida por Blumhouse Productions, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 42 minutos. Es un filme de terror sobrenatural, la cinta se ubica en 1974 en los suburbios de Denver, Colorado, en esta aparente tranquilidad existe un enorme problema y es debido a la existencia de un secuestrador apodado "El raptor" a quien se le ha adjudicado el hecho de merodear y secuestrar a múltiples niños, por lo que el protagonista deberá no solo enfrentarse a ese terrible depravado sino también a sus propios miedos y problemas internos.

The soundtrack is fine, it has something to contribute to the plot in terms of generating a good atmosphere that is an act to generate suspense.

The construction of the world is strange, the development takes place in another era and in that sense the setting is well achieved, the scenario they generate really becomes plausible. The problem here is with the use of static shots, since it always uses the same angle that does not add anything to the plot.
La construcción de mundo es extraña, el desarrollo se lleva a cabo en otra época siendo que en ese sentido está bien lograda la ambientación, realmente se hace plausible el escenario que generan. El problema aquí es con el uso de planos estáticos, siendo que utiliza siempre el mismo ángulo que no le aporta nada a la trama.

Undoubtedly this is the section that disappointed me the most, the fact that it focuses on a kidnapper and murderer of children is a topic that gives a lot of play both to present grotesque scenes and delve into the psychological field; Unfortunately, neither the first nor the second is done, being a rather sad wasted potential. The fact that everything takes place in a small room is not a problem, the problem arises with the fact that very few scary or minimally interesting things actually happen, this is one of those cases where the premise is interesting but the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
Sin dudas este es el apartado que más me decepciono, el hecho de que se enfoque a un secuestrador y asesino de niños es un tema que da para mucho juego tanto para presentar escenas grotescas cómo ahondar en el ámbito psicológico; lamentablemente no se hace ni lo primero ni lo segundo, siendo un potencial desperdiciado bastante triste. No es un problema el hecho de que todo se desarrolle en un pequeño cuarto, el problema surge con el hecho de que realmente suceden muy pocas cosas que causen miedo o que sean mínimamente interesantes, este es uno de esos casos en el que la premisa es interesante pero la ejecución deja mucho que desear.

This is a section that develops well and badly in equal parts, let's go in parts, the protagonist carries the weight of the plot, has a very long exposure time that is used to give him a decent character development by showing how that guy type of life or death situations can change a person, although for all the approach that is given could be used to give a more in-depth characterization. On the other hand, there is the villain who has a non-existent characterization, he is only bad because the script requires it, and, in a large part of the film, he is neither disturbing nor frightening, he just seems like a weird guy, this is a terrible decision since This is supposed to be the one who adds that touch of intrigue and makes the viewer's hair stand on end, even opening the door to the fact that the character could have a certain psychological background, however, he does not comply with any of this and ends up being a madman without more, consolidating him as a completely forgettable and inconsequential villain.
Este es un apartado que se desarrolla bien y mal a partes iguales, vamos por partes, el protagonista lleva el peso de la trama, tiene un tiempo de exposición muy prolongado que es usado para darle un decente desarrollo de personaje al mostrar como un tipo ese tipo de situaciones de vida o muerte pueden cambiar a una persona, aunque para todo el enfoque que se le da pudo ser empleado en darle una caracterización más profundizada. Por otro lado está el villano que tiene una caracterización inexistente, solo es malo por qué el guion lo requiere, y, en gran parte del filme este no es ni perturbador ni atemorizante, solo parece un tipo raro, esto es una decisión terrible puesto que se supone que este debería ser quien agregue ese toque de intriga y ponerle los pelos de punta al espectador, siendo incluso que abre la puerta al hecho de que el personaje podría tener cierto trasfondo psicológico, sin embargo no cumple con nada de esto y termina siendo un loco sin más, consolidándolo como un villano completamente olvidable e intrascendente.

The Black Phone is something particular, since as such it is a decent movie, although if we take into account that it is supposed to be a horror movie it completely fails to produce the slightest concern in the viewer, the most it causes is disgust and impotence for the situation that the child is going through but nothing else apart from that; I would say that his biggest sins are: lack of interesting moments, having too many dialogues and leaving too many things in the inkwell. Taking all that into account it deserves a rating of 2 stars out of 7, an interesting concept that was not well executed and could have ended up being more than it was.
The Black Phone es algo particular, puesto que como tal es una película decente, aunque si tomamos en cuenta que se supone que es una película de terror falla completamente en producir el más mínimo de inquietud en el espectador, lo más que causa es asco e impotencia por la situación que pasa el niño pero nada más aparte de eso; diría que sus mayores pecados son: carecer de momentos interesantes, tener demasiados diálogos y dejar demasiadas cosas en el tintero. Tomando todo eso en cuenta merece una calificación de 2 estrellas de 7, un concepto interesante que no fue bien ejecutado y que pudo haber terminado siendo más de lo que fue.
