Welcome my dear caged travelers of the internet and thank you very much for having made a temporary stop in my post, mystery films usually have a certain degree of attractiveness as a result of the enigma they have as their central axis, these types of films catch my attention due to how complex they are. and interesting that they may be, it is in this category that the film that brings us together today titled “Jaula” falls into place. Without further ado, prepare not to step on the line made with chalk because we are about to begin.
Bienvenidos mis queridos viajeros enjaulados del internet y muchas gracias por haber hecho una parada temporal en mi post, las películas de misterio suelen tener cierto grado de atractivo producto del enigma que tienen como eje central, este tipo de filmes llaman mi atención debido a lo complejas e interesantes que pueden resultar, es en esta categoría que entra la cinta que hoy nos reúne titulada “Jaula”. Sin más que agregar prepárense para no pisar la raya hecha con tiza pues estamos por comenzar.

Jaula is a Spanish film released in 2022, directed by Ignacio Tatay and produced by Pokeepsie Films, it has a duration of 1 hour and 46 minutes. It is a suspense film, the story focuses on Paula and her husband, who one night come across a girl in the middle of the road, weeks after the encounter with the infant she remained without speaking and with a behavior that reflects some kind of trauma, because she developed a certain bond with those who found her, they decide that she live with them for a while in order to try to obtain some information to contact a family member, what they did not expect is that this little girl would unleash a countless number of issues.
Jaula es un filme español estrenado en 2022, dirigida por Ignacio Tatay y producida por Pokeepsie Films, cuenta con una duración de 1 hora y 46 minutos. Es una cinta de suspenso, la historia se centra en Paula y su esposo, los cuales una noche se topan con una niña en mitad de la carretera, semanas después del encuentro con la infante se mantenía sin hablar y con un comportamiento que refleja alguna especie de trauma, debido a que ella desarrollo cierto lazo con los que la encontraron deciden que viva un tiempo con ellos a fin de intentar obtener algo de información para contactar con algún familiar, lo que estos no esperaban es que esta pequeña desataría un sin número de problemas.

The soundtrack is good, it fulfills its purpose of generating that feeling of intrigue in the viewer, broadly speaking this section is well developed.
La banda sonora está bien, cumple con su propósito de generar ese sentimiento de intriga en el espectador, a grandes rasgos este apartado se encuentra bien desarrollado.

The world-building happens without pain or glory, throughout the film there are certain camera angles that look interesting although when push comes to shove they don't really serve any function, I would like to expand more on this section but it really doesn't have much to offer .
La construcción de mundo pasa sin pena ni gloria, a lo largo del filme existen ciertos ángulos de cámara que lucen interesantes aunque a la hora de la verdad realmente no cumplen ninguna función, me gustaría extenderme más en este apartado pero realmente no tiene mucho para ofrecer.

The plot is a complete disaster, this is due to the fact that the film does not know what it is really trying to be; At first it is mysterious, then it seems to want to be something supernatural, later it focuses on a trauma, and at the end of the day it fails to be any of those things and ends up boring, the scenes of intrigue are mostly a smoke sale . Narratively it is a failure, as I mentioned previously the film tries to be somewhat complex by trying to focus on traumas and so on, however this is not a topic that is addressed in the best possible way so it is quickly discarded to give move to a plot twist completely taken out of the bag, the logic of giving a twist is that it has some kind of sense and coherence, something that does not happen here, so it feels completely forced, so much so that A good part of the film is dedicated to “justifying” that this twist makes all the sense in the world and is consistent (Spoiler Alert: It doesn't make the slightest logic or sense).
La trama es un desastre con todas las de la ley, lo anterior se debe a que el filme no sabe que busca ser realmente; en un primer momento es misteriosa, después parece querer ser algo sobrenatural, posteriormente se centra en un trauma, siendo que al final del día no logra ser ninguna de esas cosas y termina aburriendo, las escenas de intriga son en su mayoría una venta de humo. Narrativamente es un fracaso, como mencioné previamente la cinta hace el intento de ser algo compleja al tratar de centrarse en los traumas y demás, no obstante este no es un tema que se aborde de la mejor forma posible por lo que rápidamente es descartado para dar paso a un giro argumental completamente sacado de la manga, la lógica de dar un giro de tuerca es que este tenga alguna clase de sentido y coherencia cosa que no sucede aquí por lo que se siente completamente forzado a más no poder, tanto es así que una buena parte de la película es dedica a “justificar” que dicho giro tiene todo el sentido del mundo y es congruente (Alerta de Spoiler: No tiene la más mínima lógica ni sentido).
The length of the film is not the problem but the way in which the premise is worked, the logic of the mystery is to give clues to be able to intuit in some way what the turn will be, it is completely retarded that they simply pass this through. fundillo, the latter being what ends up making the film not make the slightest sense and feeling like a highly powerful sleeping pill.
La duración del filme no es el problema sino la forma en que es trabajada la premisa, la lógica del misterio es ir dando pistas para poder intuir de alguna forma cual será el giro que esta dará, es completamente retardado que simplemente se pasen esto por el fundillo, siendo esto último lo que termina haciendo que el filme no tenga el más mínimo sentido y se sienta como un somnífero altamente potente.

The characters are completely weak, their characterization is completely poor and the film is simply reduced to making them do things without presenting them in a minimally decent way to the viewer, this leaves them as complete strangers for whom the viewer should understand the problems they have and their actions, obviously this is impossible due to the poor writing they have, this is quite sad because they handled interesting concepts such as the difficulty of conceiving children, a topic that is not explored as it should and that ends up being wasted potential. The antagonist is simply a disaster, the concept itself is good, you never know who in your environment could be dangerous, however his appearance feels improvised and out of place, the idea was good but the execution not so much.
Los personajes son completamente flojos, su caracterización es completamente pobre y el filme sencillamente se reduce a ponerlos a hacer cosas sin presentarlos de forma mínimamente decente al espectador, esto los deja como unos completos desconocidos por los cuales el espectador debería entender los problemas que tienen y sus acciones, evidentemente esto es imposible debido a la pobre escritura que estos tienen, esto es bastante triste porque estos manejaban conceptos interesantes como lo es la dificultad de concebir hijos, tema que no es explorado como debería y que termina siendo potencial desaprovechado. El antagonista es sencillamente un desastre, el concepto en sí es bueno, nunca sabes quién de tu entorno pueda llegar a ser peligroso, no obstante su aparición se siente improvisada y fuera de lugar, la idea era buena pero la ejecución no tanto.
Jaula sounded like a good idea on paper but when it came to making it a reality it was just stumble after stumble, its biggest problem is the terrible way it had both of building its characters and the fact that it does not establish its direction right away, being that the latter ends up looking like something thought up on the fly. It is for all of the above that it deserves 2 stars out of 7, a good idea does not guarantee that the film will be good.
Jaula sonaba como una buena idea en papel pero a la hora de hacerla realidad solo fue tropiezo tras tropiezo, su mayor problema es la forma tan pésima que tuvo tanto de construir sus personajes como el hecho de que no establece de buenas a primeras su rumbo, siendo que este último termina pareciendo algo pensado sobre la marcha. Es por todo lo anterior que merece 2 estrellas de 7, una idea buena no garantiza que la película sea buena.
