The international film industry, and more specifically the one from Asia, has proved to be up to the level and many times even superior to the one made in Hollywood, with discrete productions that are a wonder from the creative point of view of the plot, standing out for the development of the characters more than committing to the use of special effects or CGI.

In fact lately I've set out to see as much as I can of Asian cinema and recently I came across a wonderful film called "Parasite" that at first I thought was a live action version of a manga called like that, but no, the story is totally independent but really incredible.

The story focuses on a family that one by one finds a job and gets into the life of a super millionaire and wealthy family, but extremely elitist; basically for that millionaire family the other people are insects (they literally say so). The behavior of the rich family is so despotic and cynical that they even bring another poor family to fight with the other family and thus unleash a macabre game to excel in the house.

The film is a work of incredible class distinction, each environment, each scenario and each dialogue is built to show different points of view of a society that is able to go very far to survive. The script makes all the characters stand out at some point, giving them a very wide plot so that their characters could be free to develop organically without silly or superficial sub-plots that would take us away from the social criticism they want to convey.

Each character is charged with emotion and an intensity that is rarely seen in Hollywood, we see complete characters, adults and strong stories that make us connect with them in a magical way. The actors who play the poor family are fantastic, each taking on the role of survivor in a splendid way, committing themselves to the service of the rich and being able to do disgusting things that keep them afloat. While millionaires remind me a lot of a family of psychopaths who are able to take advantage of their economic situation to push a group of poor people further into the abyss they were in, pushing them more and more to show how far they can go, making them humiliate themselves in each scene in any way possible; it is really incredible the few positive emotions they can transmit, they perfectly characterize a hard and imposing semblance that doesn't break at any moment.

A film that harshly criticizes society but not only concentrates on being intense but is also funny and very creepy, coming to think that in some situations the creators went too far to prove a point.

In short one of the best films of this year and Asian films that continues to demonstrate that the stories and characters are above the special effects and CGI.
