[Films Critics] 50/50

Review by @jsxchemistry · 2473d · of 50/50

Few films take a subject as critical as the fight against cancer and turn it into something funny and entertaining without making fun of such a complicated subject, but from time to time films like 50/50 manage to excel and create a plot that reflects the complexity of a disease as soulless as cancer without being as intense and dramatic.

# There is one thing I have to make clear to you, this film is a comedy and thanks to that it succeeds incredibly in being the portrait of a young man with cancer. 50/50 is a film that begins by telling us in a serious and somewhat dramatic way about the discovery of a young man who recently learned that he has cancer, a very common young man whose life is not exactly going through a good time, but ultimately a young man who recovers from that news and decides to continue living with the help of his friends. The plot of this film is developed through common scenes that represent typical situations in the life of every young person who has just learned that he suffers from a disease so strong, a young man who is hit hard emotionally almost brought to the verge of despair but who gradually tries to live following the advice of doctors. However, as I mentioned the life of this young man was not easy before being diagnosed and was recently going through a rupture that will have to learn to leave in the background to concentrate on his illness and the battle it represents to continue living.

With the passing of the minutes we see how the young protagonist goes through the usual stages that any person diagnosed with cancer could go through, we see his frustration, his anger and above all the sadness of a young man who has just entered into a vicious circle of melancholy. However, the plot takes a big turn when the best friend of this young man and a girl he recently met begin to impact his life to the point of making him want to live. Both, but above all the best friend of this man is committed to his illness making him get up and gradually overcome the most difficult part that this type of disease brings with it, the emotional blow.

# It is from the moment in which the best friend of the young man with cancer intervenes when the film becomes even better because both face the cancer with humor, with joy and above all with a satire that makes them win the battle against a horrible disease. It is fascinating to see how these two men support each other at all times, compenetrating each other to the point of forming a truly motivating brotherhood, a brotherhood they use to face the problems they have beyond the presence of the disease of one of them.

The film is funny, dramatic and very motivating because it shows us the different faces that patients who face diagnoses so little encouraging, through simple moments the film manages to build an atmosphere of comedy and constant emotion where we connect with the situations that the characters are facing. Those scenes where this couple of friends are determined to win the race against cancer are so great and funny that we do not feel sorry for them but rather makes us rejoice in their way of acting. This is a film that shows that many times the most correct way to face difficult situations is through laughter and supporting us in good moments, forgetting the negative to highlight the best aspects of life.

# A fantastic film on a plot level and using typical situations manages to convey a clear and light message about an extremely complicated subject. #
