The world of cinema is so big and diverse that many times we fall in love with simple stories because of the fantastic plot they manage to create around real characters, intense characters and above all, they win our affection for the beauty of what they transmit on screen. This is something that happened to me with the film If Beale Street Could Talk, an uncomplicated film that achieved through its fantastic characters captivate me to make me have a very entertaining time.

# # Going deeper into story. # If Beale Street Could Talk is an incredibly constructed film about a love story in times of racism, a love story that allows us to see an extremely intense and critical contrast of society. The film focuses on a young black couple in love who are forced to face a reality that hits them and puts their whole life and relationship at risk, a reality that originates from the fact that they are both African Americans; the boyfriend is accused of a highly grotesque sex crime so he is humiliated and mistreated by a judicial system that focuses on ending it. So basically the plot of this film presents us with a young man in love who faces charges for the rape of a woman, charges that make him an easy target for a group of racist men who are determined to destroy the life of this young man and anyone close to him.

The plot of the film is really heartbreaking because we constantly see how a beautiful relationship full of love is tarnished by an accusation that turns the young man into someone different, an accusation that plunges him into an emotional malaise that seems to suck every little touch of life into him. However, the film not only focuses on the accusations of rape that arise to destroy the life of an innocent young man, but the main and constant element of the film becomes the inclement struggle that this couple has to face in a society that sees them and catalogues them as scum.

The whole rhythm of the film develops beautifully, with some ups and downs that make it a bit heavy, but in general turn the story into a constant demonstration of love. The whole atmosphere that is created around the relationship of these two young people is magical because we see how both give strength and manage to cope with all the blows that society insists on throwing at them.

# # Final Thoughts # This is a film that I enjoy very much and that it generate me a lot of feelings for the way in which the facts were shaped through a cumulus of memorable and emotional situations, moments full of emotion where it was not necessary to speak to transmit sensations, the film manages to construct a constant plot plan where the situations are hard and very similar to reality. In this film we don't have sweetened or lowered tone scenes, here every moment is intense and full of drama, which makes us feel in the presence of something intense and deep that is basically a reflection of the reality of some people.

There are few films that manage to build an emotion as great as the one that this film manage to develop because they tend to lose strength at some point, however this film does not do it, the rhythm is maintained throughout the duration and that makes it not feel so long, and that rather we want to continue seeing more of the characters.

This is undoubtedly one of the toughest and most emotional films I have seen lately, a film with a love story reflected in the racial battle of a young man against a society that wants to sink him no matter if he is guilty or not. In short, I recommend that you give it a chance and simply enjoy a really wonderful visual construction.

My Score: 8/10
