Director of week #3: David O. Russell

I've never been given much attention to film directors, in fact I tend to concentrate on films no matter who directs them, however thanks to this contest created by @wiseagent I managed to realize some that I really like, some directors whose films I usually like very much, I've developed something like an unexpected taste to certain directors, one of those is undoubtedly David O. Russell a director who has given me some of the most interesting and entertaining movies I have seen, different movies and unexpectedly with unusual plots managed to catch me, because this is not a director who is used to making generic films, this is instead a director who usually plays with the plots including complex characters and with many plot turns.

Russell to like me, a boxing film told through a story of brothers with many contrasts that make it extremely different from anything else we have seen before. Here we won't have that typical phoenix story where a boxer gets up out of nowhere and gets to the top of boxing, here we will have the story of a simple, honest and very integrity boxer who is often led to make bad decisions by the bad advice of his brother, who despite not being the one who fights constantly is the one who seeks to highlight and take the spotlights.

The Fighter is a film that presents the premise of a young boxer looking for a career in this world so complicated of boxing, a boxer who really is not one of the best but nevertheless has achieved a good number of victories helped mainly by his brother and a family that is extremely immersed in this world of boxing. The plot lets us see all this super intense family dynamic that accompanies the life of a boxer on the rise, a boxer who has to deal with the fact that his brother recently released from prison wants to be part of his team and help him in his career as a boxer, because he was also a recognized boxer and feels that he can contribute a lot to his brother's career, however here we are talking about a completely problematic man, a super vicious man and addicted to the bad life, in short a man who more than helping his brother ends up complicating his life by all the chaos he generates in his career and in his personal life.

[Source](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/45317-the-fighter/images/backdrops?language=en-US) # The plot of the film manages to establish a calm moment rhythm and a super intense moment where we see the different family and personal fights that are generated from the arrival of "Dicky", because in spite of being a problematic man his mother and his sisters always support him and put him above his other brother, the true protagonist of this story. The exciting atmosphere that the director manages to create around a family and sports drama is excellent because it allows us to see up close all that a prominent boxer has to endure to survive in an extremely complicated world. # [Source](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/45317-the-fighter/images/backdrops?language=en-US) # As I said this is not a typical boxing movie, in fact there are not many intense scenes of fight however the few that there are are very well orchestrated to let us have great moments, moments full of action where the characters stand out thanks to the work so complete that make developing intense scenes in the midst of an inclement drama that never stop. This is certainly not the most flashy or exciting film but it is a different film that shows us a little closer to the preparation and all that involves having to participate in a professional boxing fight. This was a film that surprised me at the time, and that I basically dared to see for having Christian Bale in its cast, but that quickly hooked me with its well-developed plot where the characters are those who stand out in the story thanks to moments extremely well executed and with deep performances full of drama and realism, undoubtedly one of the best works of David O.
