“Para llevar la corona debes poder soportar su peso”/ “To wear the crown you must be able to support its weight”
Starting to see The Heirs was one of the best ideas we could have this weekend, to be honest, a few years ago when we started to see doramas this was one of the first ones we put on, but we were still not familiar with the style of the doramas and seeing this series a little "old" we decided to leave it 20 minutes after starting without even finishing the chapter. Some time later we began to find dramas that were capturing our attention and made us see in the world of dramas a refuge from the monotony of "classic" television, so to speak. Now, we decided to give The Heirs a chance, and we don't regret it at all, it's really a gem, so now I'll tell you a little about its plot and what we thought of it.
The Heirs/ Herederos
The Heirs is a drama from 2013, where we have as the protagonist one of the most popular loves in all of Korea and half the world; Lee Minho. This drama was applauded since its launch thanks to its striking story and the passage of it that, without giving too much thought, managed to tell an excellent story and thus leave some teachings that were shaped permanently over the years. The story of The Heirs goes like this:

Cha Eun Sang is a young, hard-working and studious girl, life has not been easy for her family so she strives daily to try to get out of the suffocating situation in which her family is involved. Eun Sang's mother (Mrs. Park) is a mute woman, who works as a housekeeper for a rich and powerful family, while her older sister went to study in the United States to get a better future for herself and her family. …or at least, that was the original plan.
One day they receive the news that their sister would get married, away from home obviously, so Mrs. Park decides to send money abroad so that it does not look bad with the groom's family, but seeing this, Eun Sang gets very angry, Well, she began to suspect some things, her sister would not return to Korea, and she and her mother would have to continue fighting to survive in a cruel world where only those with money and connections do well. Eun Sang cannot tolerate that all her mother's sacrifice is in vain, so she decides to personally go to the United States to deliver the money to her sister and talk to her about her situation, but nothing turned out as expected and the turns of life gave him a blow that he never saw coming.
Meanwhile, her problem is that she meets by chance a Korean boy who lived in the United States, who, without expecting it, would become a helping hand in the midst of the disaster. However, Tan has his own mess, but it turns out to be so big, that it's best to try and help Eun Sang with hers.
Kim Tan is the second son of a big Korean family, although people prefer to say: "He is the second son of the Jeguk Group"... because in his world, families do not exist, nor do people, in his world it is all companies and connections, anything far from that is invalid. It is a cold world, without feelings, families are created to generate status, marriages are not for love, they are to make their companies stronger and more valuable, children are not children, they are future entrepreneurs, and everything that does not follow the norms dictated by high society must remain in the shadows, where no one notices its existence.
Kim Tan was exiled by his older brother when he was 15 years old, and was forbidden to return to Korea for "the good of the family", since Tan is the son of his father's "lover", who even after 18 years , is still married to his second wife to pretend to the world that Tan is the son of a "solid and respected" marriage, which condemned Tan's mother to live 18 years locked up in a house full of luxuries and slights for being, the another… Tan is frustrated, he has a mother he can't date, a father who has never shown him affection, and a brother who hates him from day one, everything in his world is negative, but Eun Sang's appearance seems to be a show of light in the midst of darkness.
Their paths will make them cross thanks to infinite turns of life, both will find in each other a shoulder to lean on and a sincere love, but social differences are constantly present, threats, problems do not take time to rest, and although his love is great and beautiful, will it support the weight of the social crown?
Eun sang and Tan have been through a lot, they have suffered painful falls, unexpected disappointments and been hit by the least expected, but as Tan says: “If I have to kneel, I will kneel, but I can get up, if I remain myself The day will come when I don't have to kneel again."
The characters of The Heirs are excellent, each one plays a role that perfectly complements the story, not all of them have happy endings in the story, I think that is part of the realistic touch of it, which makes us see with a more reflective look to some characters that at the beginning only earned our displeasure, The Heirs shows a little how cold or cruel some corporations are, they also touch on the subject of bullying and bullying, depression and anxiety, I love how they developed the character of the lady Park, I love how they included sign language in this story, it shows how difficult she can be sometimes, but I love how strong her character is.
