Carry On es un thriller navideño solo que la estoy viendo en Semana Santa y no en Navidad jajaja pero eso no es problema yo creo que las películas de acción no pasan de moda, de hecho esta parece una de esas películas de acción de los 90 que eran muy buenas, een ese momento donde no había cable en mí casa y veía con mi papá las películas que pasaran el domingo así fueran repetidas, no tenía mucha edad en ese entonces estaba muy pequeña pero todavía tengo esos recuerdos, yo suelo recordar las cosas más absurdas, mi hermana siempre me dice cómo guardas esa información en tu cabeza? Pero sí, recuerdo las películas de antes aunque también las puedo volver a ver y las puedo comparar con las de ahora. Entonces Carry On parece una de esas películas, lo que más me gustó es que es sencilla en esta época en la que todo parece necesitar un multiverso o parecer muy complicada para justificar su existencia.

Además de que esta peli se dedica a ser un thriller de acción directo sin establecer una continuación, hay mucha tensión, se realiza en un solo escenario y tiene su trama bien clara y centrada. La película pasa en nochebuena en el aeropuerto de Los Ángeles, es el día con más tránsito de personas durante el año y eso hace que parezca una olla a presión. Puede que el ritmo de la película parezca un poco irregular porque prepara todo antes de que empiece la acción, el comienzo es lento y puso a prueba mi paciencia pero una vez que la trama se pone en marcha la tensión me mantuvo enganchada aunque no puedo saltar algunas incoherencias que tiene la historia, o sea se supone que es nochebuena y que el aeropuerto debe estar full y hay algunos pasillos vacíos o los terroristas están de lo más tranquilos hablando en una sala vacía y nadie los ve.

Carry On se centra en Ethan un agente que trabaja en la seguridad de los aeropuertos y siente que su carrera está estancada, cuando se entera que su novia está embarazada decide pedirle un ascenso a su jefe y no se le pudo ocurrir otro día que el día con más afluencia de personas, es aquí cuando comienza todo Ethan encuentra un audífono y el hombre que le habla le dice que debe dejar que un bolso específico pase por el control de seguridad sin problema o su novia Nora morirá, aquí viene todo el dilema moral de la película, va a sacrificar cientos de vidas inocentes en un avión por salvar a su novia? A medida que avanza la historia se descubre que la bolsa contiene Novichok, un compuesto ruso letal que con solo el contacto ahoga a las víctimas en su propia sangre. Ethan intenta alertar a todos pero este hombre parece estar vigilando todos sus movimientos y tiene cómplices dispuestos a hacer daño a Nora si Ethan desobedece. A la par está Elena una detective de policía que investiga un caso relacionado y poco a poco va atando cabos, llegando finalmente con Ethan cuando ambos intentan impedir todo este complot.

Ethan descubre que otros empleados del aeropuerto también han sido coaccionados para ayudar a los terroristas, esto crea una red de cómplices involuntarios que intentan proteger a sus seres queridos al tiempo que se enfrentan a todo un dilema moral, esto es una carrera contrarreloj y el protagonista debe utilizar su conocimiento del aeropuerto y también su determinación para salvar tanto a Nora como a las otras víctimas del ataque terrorista, aquí se muestra que la actuación es uno de los puntos fuertes de esta película Taron Egerton quien es reconocido por su actuación en Kingsman hace el papel de Ethan de una manera muy convincente porque tiene defectos, toma malas decisiones y está alterado, además que es muy bueno en las escenas de acción, cuando aparece corriendo por el aeropuerto pensé que era Tom Cruise. Para mí la verdadera sorpresa fue Jason Bateman como el malo porque nunca lo he visto en este tipo de personaje más bien siempre está haciendo películas cómicas o familiares y demostró que puede ser bastante intimidante y amenazador. La detective Elena es Danielle Deadwyler y Sofia Carson es Nora, esta última sentí que era como indiferente, está allí solo para que Ethan tenga una motivación pero no es un personaje desarrollado.

El final es bastante bueno y tenso Ethan trata de salvar a Nora de todas las formas posibles y de evitar el ataque terrorista, se encuentra cara a cara con el viajero que es el terrorista y creo que en este punto Bateman se mete de lleno en el papel porque se lanza un monologo sobre sus planes y su filosofía que da miedo. Por otra parte la detective Cole ayuda porque su investigación se cruza con lo que está pasando Ethan en el momento justo y en algún momento creí que Ethan no iba a salir vivo pero todo se resuelve quizás de una forma predecible, lo bueno es que esto sirvió para el crecimiento de Ethan y puede perseguir su sueño de ser policía, yo le doy a Carry On un 7.2/10 porque tiene una trama sólida, se enfoca en ser un thriller de acción y tienen buenas actuaciones en especial la de Bateman, su punto débil es el ritmo y las incoherencias que a veces tiene la trama, pero para mí funcionó bien.

Besides the fact that this movie is dedicated to being a straightforward action thriller without setting up a sequel, there is a lot of tension, it takes place in a single setting and has its plot clear and focused. The film takes place on Christmas Eve at LAX, the busiest day of the year and it makes it feel like a pressure cooker. The pace of the movie may seem a bit uneven because it sets everything up before the action starts, the beginning is slow and tested my patience but once the plot gets going the tension kept me hooked although I can't skip some inconsistencies that the story has, I mean it's supposed to be Christmas Eve and the airport should be full and there are some empty hallways or the terrorists are just talking in an empty room and no one sees them.

Carry On focuses on Ethan an agent who works in airport security and feels that his career is stagnant, when he finds out that his girlfriend is pregnant he decides to ask his boss for a promotion and he couldn't think of any other day than the day with the most influx of people, this is when it all starts Ethan finds an earpiece and the man talking to him tells him that he must let a specific bag go through security without a problem or his girlfriend Nora will die, here comes the whole moral dilemma of the movie, he is going to sacrifice hundreds of innocent lives on a plane to save his girlfriend? As the story progresses it is discovered that the bag contains Novichok, a lethal Russian compound that on contact alone drowns victims in their own blood. Ethan tries to alert everyone but this man seems to be watching his every move and has accomplices ready to harm Nora if Ethan disobeys. Alongside is Elena a police detective investigating a related case and she slowly ties things together, finally arriving with Ethan as they both try to stop this whole plot.

Ethan discovers that other airport employees have also been coerced to help the terrorists, this creates a network of unwitting accomplices who try to protect their loved ones while facing a moral dilemma, this is a race against time and the protagonist must use his knowledge of the airport and also his determination to save both Nora and the other victims of the terrorist attack, here it is shown that acting is one of the strong points of this movie Taron Egerton who is recognized for his performance in Kingsman plays the role of Ethan in a very convincing way because he is flawed, makes bad decisions and is altered, plus he is very good in action scenes, when he appears running through the airport I thought he was Tom Cruise. For me the real surprise was Jason Bateman as the bad guy because I have never seen him in this type of character rather he is always doing comedy or family movies and he showed that he can be quite intimidating and menacing. Detective Elena is Danielle Deadwyler and Sofia Carson is Nora, the latter I felt was kind of indifferent, she's just there for Ethan to have a motivation but she's not a developed character.

The ending is pretty good and tense Ethan tries to save Nora in every way possible and prevent the terrorist attack, he comes face to face with the traveler who is the terrorist and I think at this point Bateman really gets into the role because he launches into a monologue about his plans and his philosophy that is scary. On the other hand Detective Cole helps because her investigation intersects with what Ethan is going through at just the right time and at some point I thought Ethan wasn't going to make it out alive but everything is resolved perhaps in a predictable way, the good thing is that this served Ethan's growth and he can pursue his dream of being a cop, I give Carry On a 7. 2/10 because it has a solid plot, it focuses on being an action thriller and has good performances especially Bateman, its weak point is the pace and the inconsistencies that sometimes has the plot, but for me it worked well.
