Thunderbolts* (2025) - Reseña (ESP/ENG)

El miércoles pasado me invitaron a ver el estreno de Thunderbolts en el cine y sin pensarlo dije que si, era cmo un pre-estreno no estoy muy segura, fueron unas entradas corporativas que le regalaron a una amiga en el trabajo, aunque yo no estaba desesperada por verla mi hijo si y como también l invitación era para él pues salí corriendo del trabajo y nos fuimos a encontrarme con mi amiga y disfrutar de la película. A mí hijo le encantó, dijo que era una obra de arte, una carta de amor al cine ajajajaja, quisiera saber de donde sacó esas frases no sé si es porque a veces lee mis reviews cuando los hago y está aprendiendo o si es porque se la pasa viendo en Instagram unos expertos que hacen reseña de películas. En fin mis expectativas con esta película eran medias, principalmente porque las últimas películas de marvel que he visto no me han parecido gran cosa, no creía que fuese a ser mala pero tampoco la mejor que he visto y sinceramente me dejó sorprendida, en mi opinión tiene un toque más fresco a comparación de otras películas de marvel que intentan ser una especie de remake de los vengadores o mantenerse en esos temas de multiversos, viajes en el tiempo y esas cosas locas y complicadas de explicar y que han empezado a cansar un poco a todos. Aunque obviamente no es perfecta tiene esa esencia que le hacía falta a Marvel desde hace tiempo y eso me hizo salir contenta del cine.

Si bien la película usa sobre todo a personajes secundarios de otras películas y antihéroes no es ninguna parodia, les dan el respeto y la importancia que merecen y no parece que fueran otros Avengers, más bien parece una especie de reunión de personas con superpoderes, traumas y que no se caen muy bien pero a la vez se dan terapia entre ellos, algo así comop el grupo de la oficina solo que nosotros no tenemos superpoderes jjajaajajaja. Para mí lo mejor que pudieron hacer fue abandonar ese sarcasmo de siempre de Marvel y los efectos especiales exagerados para hacer algo un poco más crudo. Todo es un poco más oscuro, dando a entender que todos pasamos por situaciones horribles en algún momento, hasta los superhéroes.

No se si a ustedes les pasa como a mí pero ya me estaba cansando de que las películas de Marvel fueran como un trailer de la próxima película y aunque Thunderbolts puede preparar la historia o película que viene se sintió como más natural. La trama es bastante sencilla como les dije sin tanto rollo del multiverso ni viajes en el tiempo, solo un grupo de traumados reunidos por una tipa que está en el gobierno y está metida en unos asuntos raros y quiere cubrir sus huellas y cosas malas que ha hecho para que no la destituyan de su cargo. Yelena Belova, está pasando la pérdida de su hermana y se siente atrapada limpiando los desastres de esta mujer Valentina Allegra de Fontaine y escribo el nombre completo porque es como a ella le gusta que la llamen, ella se enfrenta a un juicio por una serie de operaciones ilegales. La misión comienza como una de limpieza de pruebas pero rápidamente se vuelve un caos porque Yelena se da cuenta de que la han tendido una trampa junto con John Walker, Ghost y Taskmaster, se supone que deben matarse entre ellos, pero en lugar de eso se unen para escapar a pesar que la Valentina los quiere quemar porque ellos son parte de las pruebas de sus crímenes por así decirlo. A partir de ahí, todo es persecución y enfrentamiento con las fuerzas de Valentina, Bucky Barnes aparece pero es un congresista y ayuda al equipo a perseguir a Valentina. Algo que no dije antes es que cuando estos escapan se llevan a un tipo que se llama Bob y resulta que no es un tipo cualquiera, sino que en realidad es Sentry, un superhumano con poderes divinos resultado de un experimento con un alter ego oscuro llamado Void, como Bob no puede controlar bien sus poderes Valentina logra capturarlo y empieza a ponerlo en contra de sus nuevos amigos para que trabaje para ella. Aquí viene lo bueno, Sentry al darse cuenta de que era tan poderoso no quiere seguir las ordenes de Valentina, pero ella tenía un botón para matarlo por así decirlo, y digo esto porque luego de oprimir el botón se transforma en Void una especie de silueta oscura de Sentry que convierte a la gente en sombras y al final lo hace con toda Nueva York. La única forma de arreglar las cosas es que Yelena y los demás se dejen transformar en estas sombras para literalmente entrar en la mente de Bob, se enfrenten a su trauma y le ayuden a luchar contra la oscuridad que hay en su interior, esa parte estuvo genial, demasiado buena.

Además de las escenas de acción, las actuaciones también son buenísimas, Florence Pugh en mi opinión es la mejor con el personaje de Yelena y es mucho más que una simple imitación de Black Widow, se nota la química con Red Guardian, interpretado por David Harbour, que encaja perfecto en el papel del héroe acabado que intenta recuperar algo de gloria mientras está ahí para su hija. Lewis Pullman, en el doble papel de Bob y Sentry, es otro que lo hace genial, en un momento es un tipo torpe y perdido y al siguiente es una especie de dios que no logra controlar bien sus poderes. Wyatt Russell es John Walker y sigue teniendo ese aire de aspirante a Capitán América, Julia Louis-Dreyfus en el papel de Valentina actúa tan bien que logra caer mal jajajaj. Lo que no fue tan bueno es Hannah John-Kamen que no tiene mucho que hacer como Ghost y eso no me gustó tanto y Sebastian Stan es Bucky y me pareció que estaba un poco marginado.

Algo que me impactó fue cómo la película trata el tema de la salud mental y no es solo una trama secundaria, es una parte importante de la historia, esa lucha de Bob contra Void es como mostrar a la depresión y la soledad, y la forma en que el equipo se une para ayudarlo a salir de eso me llegó bastante, cuando alguien tiene depresión no hay soluciones mágicas ni discursos que lo resuelvan todo, lo único que ayuda es saber que no estás solo y me parece que Thunderbolts da un mensaje bastante profundo en esto, cosa que no es común en las películas de superhéroes.

Al final una vez derrotado Void y recuperado el control por Bob el equipo se prepara para acabar con Valentina pero como es clásico de Marvel hay un cambio inesperado y ella da declaraciones en la que nombra a los Thunderbolts como los nuevos Avengers, aprovechando esto para darse el crédito, es una jugada inteligente que deja al equipo en una situación extraña porque siguen siendo utilizados como sus empleados por así decirlo. Es de las primeras veces que veo que absolutamente nadie en la sala de cine se levantó de su asiento hasta que llegaran los post créditos, todos ya sabemos que en una película de Marvel la película no queda allí jajaja y la escena es una vista al futuro con los Thunderbolts y Bob recibiendo una señal de socorro desde el espacio y un gigantesco 4 apareciendo en una nave espacial me parece que esto indica que los Cuatro Fantásticos están por llegar. Yo le doy a Thunderbolts un 8.5/10, es buena en varios aspectos aunque algunas de las escenas de acción podrían haber sido mejores, los actores son de primera y la película no tiene miedo de ensuciar un poco a sus personajes, me gusta que no trata de ser la próxima Avengers, solo cuenta la historia de personas con traumas, problemas y malas rachas en sus vidas que intentan hacer el bien.

Last Wednesday I was invited to see the premiere of Thunderbolts at the cinema and without thinking I said yes, it was like a pre-release I'm not sure, it was a corporate ticket that was given to a friend at work, although I was not desperate to see it my son was and as the invitation was also for him I ran out of work and we went to meet my friend and enjoy the movie. My son loved it, he said it was a work of art, a love letter to cinema hahahaha, I would like to know where he got those phrases I do not know if it is because sometimes he reads my reviews when I do them and is learning or if it is because he spends his time watching on Instagram some experts who review movies. Anyway my expectations with this movie were average, mainly because the last marvel movies I have seen have not seemed great, I did not think it was going to be bad but not the best I have seen and honestly I was surprised, in my opinion it has a fresher touch compared to other marvel movies that try to be a kind of remake of the avengers or stay in those themes of multiverses, time travel and those crazy and complicated things to explain and that have started to get a little tired to everyone. While obviously not perfect it has that essence that Marvel has been missing for a long time and that made me leave the theater happy.

Although the movie uses mostly secondary characters from other movies and antiheroes it's not a parody, they are given the respect and importance they deserve and it doesn't seem like they were other Avengers, it seems more like a kind of meeting of people with superpowers, traumas and who don't like each other very much but at the same time they give therapy to each other, something like the office group only we don't have superpowers hahahahahahahahahaha. For me the best thing they could have done was to abandon that usual Marvel sarcasm and exaggerated special effects to do something a little more raw. Everything is a little darker, implying that we all go through horrible situations at some point, even superheroes.

I don't know if it happens to you guys like it does to me but I was getting tired of Marvel movies being like a trailer for the next movie and while Thunderbolts may set up the story or movie to come it felt like more natural. The plot is pretty simple as I told you without so much multiverse stuff or time travel, just a bunch of traumatized people brought together by a broad who is in the government and is into some weird stuff and wants to cover her tracks and bad things she's done so she doesn't get removed from office. Yelena Belova, is going through the loss of her sister and feels stuck cleaning up the messes of this woman Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and I write the full name because that's what she likes to be called, she is facing trial for a series of illegal operations. The mission starts out as one of evidence cleanup but quickly turns to chaos because Yelena realizes she has been set up along with John Walker, Ghost and Taskmaster, they are supposed to kill each other, but instead they team up to escape even though the Valentina wants them burned because they are part of the evidence of her crimes so to speak. From there it's all chase and confrontation with Valentina's forces, Bucky Barnes shows up but he's a congressman and helps the team chase Valentina. Something I didn't say before is that when they escape they take a guy named Bob and it turns out he's not just any guy, he's actually Sentry, a superhuman with divine powers resulting from an experiment with a dark alter ego called Void, as Bob can't control his powers well Valentina manages to capture him and starts to turn him against his new friends so that he works for her. Here comes the good part, Sentry realizing he was so powerful doesn't want to follow Valentina's orders, but she had a button to kill him so to speak, and I say this because after pressing the button he transforms into Void a kind of dark silhouette of Sentry that turns people into shadows and in the end he does it with all of New York. The only way to fix things is for Yelena and the others to let themselves transform into these shadows to literally enter Bob's mind, confront his trauma and help him fight the darkness inside him, that part was great, too good.

Besides the action scenes, the performances are also great, Florence Pugh in my opinion is the best with the character of Yelena and is much more than just an imitation of Black Widow, you can feel the chemistry with Red Guardian, played by David Harbour, who fits perfectly in the role of the washed up hero trying to regain some glory while being there for his daughter. Lewis Pullman, in the dual role of Bob and Sentry, is another one who does great, one moment he's a bumbling, lost guy and the next he's some kind of god who can't quite get his powers under control. Wyatt Russell is John Walker and he still has that Captain America wannabe vibe, Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the role of Valentina acts so well that she manages to fall bad hahahahah.

Something that struck me was how the movie deals with the issue of mental health and it's not just a subplot, it's an important part of the story, that fight of Bob against Void is like showing depression and loneliness, and the way the team comes together to help him out of that got to me quite a bit, when someone has depression there are no magic solutions or speeches that solve everything, the only thing that helps is knowing that you are not alone and it seems to me that Thunderbolts gives a pretty deep message in this, something that is not common in superhero movies.

At the end once Void is defeated and control is regained by Bob the team prepares to take down Valentina but as is classic Marvel there is an unexpected change and she gives statements in which she names the Thunderbolts as the new Avengers, taking advantage of this to give herself credit, it's a smart move that leaves the team in a strange situation because they are still being used as her employees so to speak. This is one of the first times I've seen absolutely no one in the theater get out of their seat until the post credits rolled, we all already know that in a Marvel movie the movie doesn't stay there hahaha and the scene is a view into the future with the Thunderbolts and Bob getting a distress signal from space and a giant 4 appearing in a spaceship seems to me that this indicates that the Fantastic Four are coming. I give Thunderbolts an 8.5/10, it's good in several ways although some of the action scenes could have been better, the actors are top notch and the movie isn't afraid to get a little dirty with its characters, I like that it doesn't try to be the next Avengers, it just tells the story of people with traumas, problems and rough patches in their lives trying to do good.
