Yesterday I decided to watch another Korean series, though this time based on a comic book.
All of Us Are Dead is a South Korean series about zombies, but in a pretty specific setting. Students going to high school have to face the upcoming exams, everything is going in the normal course of school life, but one day everything gets out of control and zombies take over the school, and only a handful of survivors will have somewhere to hide.

The series is not a typical zombie horror film, but first and foremost it's a look at young people at school, how they behave, what problems they have and how they try to solve them.
The series is partly an allegory of school bullies who oppress the weaker, the weaker in the form of zombies can finally pay them back.
The series does not focus on one character, but on a few scattered groups who, with varying degrees of success, must somehow work together to achieve the goal of survival.

It's very nicely shot, and even though you can see CGI effects during the fights, overall it comes off quite nicely, and the characters behave rationally in a given scene thanks to which we subconsciously like them.
Netflix, when it comes to Korean series, is able to get right down to the nitty gritty, creating carnage, but exaggerated and caricatured enough that we don't feel disgusted.
A great biologist teaching at a school decides to help his son who is notoriously bullied at school, he creates a "force" virus that is supposed to give his son the power to deal with anyone, but what seems simple is ultimately too complicated and everything slips away.

The series is based on a Web comic book that was very popular in South Korea, perhaps under the influx of popularity it will be released in paperback.
The series is inspired by many famous zombie movies including Night of the Living Dead and The Walking Dead, even the series often mentions famous themes or titles to which a scene refers.
There are very fast zombies and there is a lot of blood, so if you don't like exaggerated blood it may surprise you a little.
Each episode lasts over an hour, and there are 12 of them, but the finale gives us a hint that we will soon see another season with the characters.
To sum up after Squid Game it is another well made work which attracts with effective shots and very nice colors. Everything is fueled by a mild filter to hit the viewer with harsher colors in a moment. It's not the best zombie series, but it stands out because it's about locked students with thousands of zombies around. If you haven't seen it yet, it's worth watching because South Korea is creating more and more interesting productions. 8/10

Wczoraj postanowiłem obejrzeć kolejny koreański serial, choć tym razem na podstawie komiksu.
All of us are Dead jest południowokoreańskim serialem o zombie, jednak w dosyć specyficznym otoczeniu. Uczniowie chodzący do liceum musza się zmierzyć z nadchodzącymi egzaminami, wszystko można by powiedzieć idzie normalnym tokiem życia w szkole, jednak pewnego dnia wymyka się wszystko spod kontroli i zombie opanowują szkole, a tylko garstka ocalałych będą musieli gdzie się ukryć.

Serial nie jest typowym horrorem o zombie a przede wszystkim spojrzeniem na młodzież szkolna to jak się zachowują, jakie maja problemy i jak starają je rozwiązać.
Serial to taka po części alegoria szkolnych łobuzów którzy gnębią słabszych, słabsi pod postacią zombie mogą wreszcie im odpłacić.
Serial nie skupia sie na jednym bohaterze a na kilku rozrzuconych grupach, którzy z rożnym efektem musza jakoś wspólnie działać by osiągnąć cel jakim jest przetrwanie.

Bardzo ładnie jest nakręcony i pomimo, ze widać efekty CGI w czasie walki, to jednak całościowo wypada to całkiem ładnie, a bohaterowie zachowują sie racjonalnie w danej scenie dzięki temu podświadomie lubimy ich.

Podsumowując po Squid Game jest to kolejne dobrze zrealizowane dzieło, które przyciąga efektywnymi ujęciami i bardzo ładnie zrobionymi kolorami. Wszystko jest podsycone łagodnym filtrem by za chwile uderzyć widza ostrzejszymi barwami. Nie jest to najlepszy serial o zombie, ale wyróżnia sie tym, ze jest o zamkniętych uczniach z tysiącami zombie wokół. Polecam jeśli jeszcze nie widzieliście to warto sie przyjrzeć bo Południowa Korea coraz ciekawsze produkcje tworzy. 8/10
