Several times I have written that Studio A 24 makes the best horror movies, and today I have to add the word best drama.

C'mon C'mon is an emotional journey to the moment when we lost joy. It's a film full of reflection on who we are and why we walk this path. It is not a road movie in spite of the two protagonists. Here the director focuses on the relationship, the bond of the characters, but he is not afraid to ask difficult questions, so very difficult, and yet the children know the answers.
This is a film about the hardship of being a parent about this sudden change, the consequences for a lifetime. About observing and trying to understand the other person.
Johnny works in radio and hosts a show where he records children expressing their emotions and thoughts. One day he calls his sister Viv, and in the course of the conversation he learns that her sister has to go to her ex-husband's and asks Johnny to look after her 10-year-old Jess for the time being. While at first Johnny tries to talk his way into an interview with Jess, he later opens up more and more to the child.
It's a film about loss, about divorce, about the craziness that goes on around a child, but also about family problems, old age, dementia, and being nobody to everybody. The film does not soften anything, it shows everything as it should be, often poured over with vinegar.

Joaquin Phoenix plays here the unusual role of the "temporary father, but also a student" of the father as he tries to take care of Jess as if he were to be his son, but also learns to remember who he is in this world, while showing us his problems, flaws, dreams and desire to change.
The black and white contrasts with the meaning of the whole picture giving it a more tangible look. It is a film about life, about problems, big and small, about thoughts of loneliness and anguish, but also about strength, joy of the moment and good memories.
This is not an action film or a drama stuffed with extraordinary images. Here we get a conversation between a young man and an older man, and two extreme worlds that try to learn something from each other over a period of time.
Mike Mills creates a remarkable portrait that we can identify with. Often when children ask us a difficult question, we don't know what to answer. Here, the protagonist also does not know the answer, but tries to suspect this strange initially hard to eventually discover himself
Studio A24 gives us another unusual spectacle, this time without additional effects, just giving in front of the camera a 10-year-old boy and a nearly 50-year-old man their worlds, their dreams and how the world goes for them, how they perceive everyday life.

There isn't much music in this film, only a very interestingly played piece called Dawntown rolls through. I recommend the film because it's not a film about areas, but about adults and the problems they often have to bear to make one day look normal.

Kilka razy pisałem słowa, ze studio A 24 tworzy najlepsze horrory, dziś zaś muszę dołożyć do tego jeszcze słowo najlepszy dramat.

C’mon C’mon jest emocjonalna podróżą do momentu kiedy utraciliśmy radość. To film pełen refleksji nad tym kim jesteśmy i dlaczego podążamy ta droga. To nie jest film drogi po mimo dwóch bohaterów. Tutaj reżyser skupia się na relacji, więzi bohaterów, ale nie boi się zadawać trudnych pytań, tak bardzo trudnych, a mimo to dzieci znają na nie odpowiedz.
To film o trudzie bycia rodzicem o tej nagłej zmianie, konsekwencjach na całe życie. O obserwacji i próbie zrozumienia tej drugiej osoby.
Johnny pracuje w radiu i prowadzi audycje gdzie nagrywa dzieci, które wyrażają swoje emocje i myśli. Pewnego dnia dzwoni do Viv swojej siostry, w czasie rozmowy dowiaduje się, ze siostra musi jechać do swojego byłego męża i prosi Johnnego by zaopiekował się jej 10 letnim Jessem przez ten czas. O ile na początku Johnny stara się namówić na wywiad z Jessem tak później coraz bardziej otwiera się przed dzieckiem.
To film o zagubieniu, o rozwodzie, o szaleństwie jaki dzieje się wokół dziecka, ale tez o problemach rodzinnych, o starości, demencji,o byciu nikim dla wszystkich. Film nic nie łagodzi pokazuje wszystko takie jak powinno być, często polane wręcz octem.

Joaquin Phoenix gra tutaj niezwykła role „tymczasowego ojca, ale i ucznia” ojca bo stara się opiekować Jessem tak jakby miał on być jego synem, ale i uczy się by pamiętać kim jest na tym świecie, przy tym ukazuje nam swoje problemy, wady, marzenia i chęć zmiany.
Czerń i biel kontrastują z wymowa całego obrazu dodając mu bardziej namacalny wygląd. To film o życiu o problemach o większych i mniejszych o myślach o samotności iudręce, ale i o sile o radości chwili i dobrych wspomnieniach. To nie jest film akcji, czy dramat nafaszerowany niezwykłymi obrazami. Tutaj dostajemy rozmowę młodego człowieka z starszym i dwa skrajne światy, które przez pewien czas starają się czegoś od siebie nauczyć.
Mike Mills tworzy niezwykły portret, który możemy się utożsamić. Często dzieci zadając nam trudne pytanie, nie wiemy co odpowiedzieć. Tutaj bohater tez nie zna odpowiedzi, ale stara się podążać ta dziwna początkowo ścieżka by ostatecznie odkryć samego siebie
Studio A24 daje nam kolejny niezwykły spektakl tym razem bez dodatkowych efektów dając tylko przed kamerę 10 letniego chłopaka i blisko 50 letniego mężczyznę ich światy, ich marzenia oraz to jak świat toczy się dla nich, jak postrzegają codzienność.

Muzyki w tym filmie nie ma zbyt wiele, jedynie przewija się bardzo ciekawie zagrany kawałek Dawntown. Polecam film bo to nie jest film o dziedzinach, ale o dorosłych i o problemach jakie musza często dźwigać by jakoś jeden dzień wyglądał normalnie.
