Internal pornography.

David Cronenberg's new film throws the viewer into a surreal world where the director tries to show the transformation of a person. The film is filled with ambiguous scenes that are meant to make the viewer curious about what is happening on the screen, and the erotic scenes are by guess and imagination. Insightful inner beauty. Cronenberg throws away the human shell to show the beauty of the internal organs, while also giving his manifesto on the beauty and debasement of humans. The surreal work is even filled with a dark atmosphere that wriggles like a cockroach in a tether, suffocating the viewer and building an uncharacteristic atmosphere. While at first one wonders what the new film is about, over time all the cards are slowly revealed so that the viewer can come up with the solution to the mystery that is the key of the film.

The lead role was played by Viggo Mortensen, who perfectly fit into a man who, on the one hand, struggles with himself and his inner transformation, sexualization, and on the other hand, is just such a puppet for the amusement of people, where for a few dollars he removes another element of humanity. The actor has also visually changed a lot, the terribly emaciated face only adds to the charm of this macabre production. The female roles are mesmerizing whether it's the main character's assistant or the organ registry lady. Each of them on the one hand wants to be like the protagonist, who does macabre things for his show, on the other hand they have sick urges that make them fall in love in a specific way with the main character.
Crimes of the Future is a film that does not frighten, but rather gives reasons for concern (Cronenberg's beloved vermin). While it's not the Cronenberg of yesteryear, it feels the same unease and the same verminous world with an overt stance. The film does not rush through its story, creating a slow at times dreamy picture to make the viewer even drown in this world full of filth and deviancy.

A senior artist and his assistant create an unconventional show in which the main element is an operation on the artist's body. The sexualization of the operation and another organ cut out makes the artist known by everyone in town, but he himself suffers from a strange ailment as he can't eat anything.

In a city where pain is even a desire there is a mysterious murder of a child, which will be the beginning of madness and an attempt to understand. The title Crimes of the Future does not appear until the end of the film where the main villain of this work is fully converted.
Some will say it's a film with no soul, but I think it's a film filled with metaphors and a dirty atmosphere that shows man as an object through which others have pleasure.
It's a film you'll either love, or you'll turn off after a while, because the surrealism here is at a high level and many scenes even mess with the viewer's head, so that he finally feels the rottenness of the city. 8/10
Wewnetrzna pornografia
