Good fun.
Young people's films have a specific narrative scheme as well as a whole storyline. There are good films, bad films and films that wanted to be interesting, but failed too badly.
Such a film is directed by Rospo Pallenberg, who clearly had a small budget, but tried to surprise the viewer with something completely different.
Horror movies for teenagers are often associated with camping or meeting friends in an abandoned house, but Cutting Class is completely different.
The narrative and plot is built around the class and their students. You can feel the atmosphere of the 70's cinema despite the fact that the film was made in 1989.
It is one of those films where the plot leads us by the hand every now and then throwing up new strange clues to finally surprise the viewer.
The whole thing turns out quite well, new places are interesting, but also stupid, like the last mystery with the train. The finale is predictable, although a few times I had doubts who might be behind all the intrigue.
It's also one of the first films to feature Brad Pitt, who played his role fairly well. You can see he tried to give the role a lot, but often tried too hard to impersonate the character. It's hard to define his role because on the one hand he plays a donkey and someone who has nothing to learn, on the other hand he is normal, so the script is very unstable.
As for the main bad guy in the film, here he is a twinkle in the eye to the well-known motifs where the killer is revealed at the end of the film like in the scooby doo series.
The plot tells the story of a young girl who will have a week of peace and quiet at home because her dad is away duck hunting, after he instructs her to study the week starts to get weird. At school she meets some familiar faces, but also a boy who has just returned from a psychiatric hospital for the unintentional murder of his father. As time goes by, macabre things start to happen in the school and the only person who can do something is the title character, who will have to make crazy decisions.
As for the film which is over 30 years old, it is sentimental, you can feel the atmosphere of VHS times, and the intrigue is conducted in such a way that it could happen, so here it is for the better.
To sum up, it is an interesting horror film for teenagers where there are no hectolitres of blood, but what it makes up for with intrigue and the fact that every now and then the plot gives us new and surprising clues as to who the mysterious murderer from the class might be.

Dobra zabawa.
