Teenage Slasher movies can be good and bad. Today's movie from 1997 is one of the good ones. Films of this type have a pattern repeated since the 1970s.
The film is of the Thriller genre with a touch of a thriller. Despite 24 years old, he is watched well and has his own better fictional moments. The performance is more like a TV movie than a cinema production, but the 90s had that particular style of being horror movies.
The film was directed by Jim Gillespie, who in some places wanted to create a dark world too much, even adding something from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The film is based on the book of the same title and it was advertised that it was created by the creators of the famous Scream. Of course, the producers later withdrew from this campaign, but both films have a lot in common.
Even one of the characters wears a very similar blouse to the protagonist of the film Scream, the plot itself is also in part very similar, although in its own way surprising. We have four heroes who play happily on the day of independence, the fun is growing more and more and our heroes decide to go to the beaches, where they also tell terrible urban legends.
This night is special for them because everyone has a plan. Helen is going to become an actress, thinks she will be the prom queen of the town, Sarah plans to study and move, Ray and Barry think about their professional career and school. However, when they come back under the influence of alcohol, a moment was enough and they hit someone on the street, without thinking they decide to get rid of the man lying on the road.
They think about drowning him. When a year passes, a threat appears in the town, mysterious news and a series of murders that shock our heroes because they go mad, knowing that the guest they lost was dead then, and yet they are now in danger.
I liked the movie because it can surprise you in a moment when you don't expect it. The action is relatively fluid for so many movies, the murders are arranged in an interesting way. And the murderer himself is performed correctly, and the plot is kept until the last minutes of the film.
(Trailer)Although many consider it a weaker version of The Scream, I believe that the film has its own atmosphere, also dark and a bit goofy, but such films always have a number of idiotic ones, such as running in the wrong direction or trying to stun the murderer with scream;)
The movie is not bad so free cinema with friends, where you can chill out and laugh a bit with heroism and whether they will manage to survive. I rate the movie on 6/10
