Last Night in Soho is not your ordinary horror film it is closer to a drama full of suffering with an extremely good musical score.
It is a work that shows how stars live when the flashes go off. A surrealistic work full of magic, but neatly showing that careers can be full of suffering and pain. The 60s, although full of serenity on stage, were in fact different from what the main character thinks.
The film focuses on Eloise who lives in a small village and is fascinated by the 60's. She listens to records and thinks it is the only best music. One day she receives a letter that she has been accepted to a college where she will learn to design clothes. She bids farewell to her grandmother and goes to London, where she has her first real encounter with reality. Calm and slightly withdrawn, she runs into a conceited flatmate who makes fun of her for where she comes from and how her mum ended up. Eloise feels bad about the company and even going out to a pab only makes things worse, eventually moving out of the dorm and into a small room with a nice old lady. When she goes to bed magic happens she can turn back time and be in the 60's meeting the beautiful Sandy, the initial fascinating and almost boundless love for these times slowly show a second face more dark. Eloise is lost and wants to help her friend but can't.
Last Night in Soho is a piece of well-made filmmaking where everything is well thought out to ultimately surprise the viewer.
The viewer, enchanted by this uniqueness like Eloise, falls into a trap which is hard to bite seeing the later events. A psychological drama with a dash of Sureism and a generous sprinkling of 60s and magic is how this work can be summed up. One of the best films of this year. The director created a magical story which shows that not everything is as beautiful as we imagine listening to or watching an older film. The role of Eloise, played by Thomasin McKenzie, deserves a great applause. It's not only the role of an introvert who tries to escape from the madness of the modern world, but also a wonderful portrayal of the thin line between the truth and a dream. She played the role of a lost girl in another city very well.
The other actress who gave an interesting performance is Anya Taylor Joy, who played in the scenes of the 60's and you have to admit that she created an interesting character of a beginning singer who wanted to make a career in Soho. It's not a scary film, it's sad, yes it's full of pain, it's dripping with great music, but it's not a horror film, not as we think, yes there are scenes of horror, but it's a horror film that the heroine experiences every day the same. For me this film is one of the best this year combining the magic of cinema with a difficult subject.

To dzieło ukazujące jak żyją gwiazdy kiedy flesze gasną. Surrealistyczne dzieło pełne magii, ale zgrabnie pokazujące, ze kariera bywała pełna cierpienia i bólu. Lata 60 mimo, ze pełne pogody ducha na scenie w rzeczywistości były inne niż myśli główna bohaterka.
Film skupia się na Eloise mieszkającej w małej wiosce jest zafascynowana w latach 60 słucha płyt i uważa ze to jedyna najlepsza muzyka. Pewnego dnia dostaje list ze dostała się na studia gdzie będzie uczyć się projektować ubrania. Żegnając się z babcia wyjeżdża do Londynu tam pierwszy raz zderza się z rzeczywistością. Spokojna lekko wycofana trafia na zarozumiała współlokatorkę, która wyśmiewa ja skąd pochodzi i jak skończyła jej mama. Eloise czuje się złe w tym towarzyskie i nawet wyjście do pabu tylko pogarsza sytuacje, ostatecznie wyprowadzanie z akademika i zamieszkuje w małym pokoju u sympatycznej staruszki. Kiedy idzie spać dzieje się magia może cofnąć czas i być w latach 60 poznając piękna Sandy, początkowa fascynująca i wręcz bezgraniczna miłość do tych czasów powoli ukazują drugie oblicze bardziej mroczne. Eloise jest zagubiona chciała by pomoc swojej przyjaciółce ale nie potrafi.
Ostatnia Noc w Soho to kawał dobrze zrealizowanego filmu gdzie wszystko jest przemyślane, by ostatecznie zaskoczyć widza.
Widz oczarowany ta niezwykłością niczym Eloise wpada w sidła w które ciężko przegryźć widząc późniejsze wydarzenia. Dramat psychologiczny z domieszka Surealizmu i posypane obficie dużo posypka lat 60 i magii tak można podsumować to dzieło. Jeden z najlepszych filmów tego roku. Reżyser stworzył magiczna opowieść, która ukazuje, ze nie wszystko tak piękne jest jak sobie wyobrażamy słuchając czy oglądając starszy film Na wielkie brawa zasłuchuje aktorka Thomasin McKenzie,która odegrała role Eloise to nie tylko rola introwertyczki, która probuje uciec od szaleństwa współczesności, ale tez wspaniałe ukazanie tej cienkiej lini między prawda a wykreowanym snem. Zagrała bardzo dobrze wcielając się w postać, zagubionej dziewczyny w innym mieście.
Druga aktorka, która zagrała interesująco jest tutaj Anya Taylor Joy, która grała w scenach lat 60 i trzeba przyznać ze wykreowała interesującą postać początkującej piosenkarki, która chciała zrobić karierę w Soho. To nie jest straszne dzieło, smutne owszem pełne bólu jak najbardziej ociekająca wspaniałymi kawałkami muzycznymi tez, ald to nie jest horror, nie taki jak myślimy, owszem są sceny horroru, ale to horror, który przeżywa bohaterka codziennie ten sam. Dla mnie ten film jest jednym z najlepszych w tym roku łączący magię kina z trudnym tematem.
