Quentin Tarantino is a filmmaker who creates his works with extraordinary dedication.
I waited a long time to see Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, I was a bit afraid if the director would manage to create an extraordinary story as well as not to spoil the plot by the length of the film, but my fears were unfounded because the film is a time machine that throws the viewer for 2,5 hours into the times of films and hippies, and at the same time having fun with reality.
It's not a biographical film about Sharon Tate, it's closer to showing an alternative reality where certain themes are shown in a completely different light which adds even more colour to the whole production.
You can say a lot or nothing about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but watching it will absorb you with such intensity that you will want to be there again for those 2,5 hours. Quentin plays with genres in his films, often combining them to create unprecedented works: we've had gangster cinema, action cinema or westerns, it's time for a comedy set in the craziest years.
The film doesn't focus on one character, we see the fates of several protagonists intertwine in the finale, it's not a film of one actor but of a whole town.
Rick Dalton once a famous film actor slowly starts to play weaker and weaker roles, he feels professional burnout, however he tries to play everything he can even the weaker films, he has a stuntman friend Cliff Booth who replaces him in more serious scenes, however for some time no one engages him due to his explosive stuntman temperament as well as his dark past. In between we learn about Sharon's beginnings in Hollywood and her point of view on films. Each character has a life of their own and is interesting enough to anagaze the viewer.
It's an interesting laurel to those times with great music that no one before or since will repeat is a story that could have happened.
The film as a whole is excellently constructed, although there is no play with time as in Pulp Fiction, but there are many flavours which, while watching, crown the cinema as we know it.
I highly recommend it if you haven't watched it yet, it's a good time to go back in time for 2,5 hours and find yourself in hot Hollywood among the stars and feeling the hottest day.

Długo czekałem z seansem by zobaczyć Pewnego razu w Hollywood, trochę obawiałem się, czy reżyser podoła stworzyć niezwykłą historie jak i przez długość filmu nie zepsuć fabuły, jednak moje obawy były bez podstawne bo film to machina czasu, która wrzuca widza na 2,5 godziny do czasów filmów i hipisów, a przy tym bawiąc się rzeczywistością.
To nie jest biograficzny film o Sharon Tate bliżej mu do ukazania alternatywnej rzeczywistości gdzie pewne wątki są ukazane w całkowicie innym świetle co nadaje jeszcze większego kolorytu całej produkcji.
O Pewnego Razu w Hollywood można wiele powiedzieć bądź nic, ale oglądając go wchłonie z taka intesywnoscia, ze znów zapragniemy być tam przez te 2,5 godziny. Quentin w swoich filmach bawi się gatunkami często łącząc je tworząc dzieła niespotykane: dostaliśmy kino gangsterskie, kino akcji czy western pora na komedie która była osadzona w najbardziej szalonych latach.
Film nie skupia się na jednym bohaterze, widzimy losy kilku bohaterow, które w finale się splatają, to nie film jednego aktora, lecz całego miasteczka.
Rick Dalton niegdyś sławny aktor filmowy powoli zaczyna grać w coraz słabsze role, czuje wypalenie zawodowe, jednak stara się grać wszystko co mu dają nawet słabsze filmy, czy seriale, ma przyjaciela kaskadera Cliffa Bootha, który zastępuje go w poważniejszych scenach, jednak od pewnego czasu nikt nie angażuje go ze względu na wybuchowy temperament kaskadera jak i mroczna przeszłość. W między czasie poznajemy początki Sharon w Hollywood i jej punkt widzenia na filmy. Każdy z bohaterów ma swoje życie i na tyle ciekawe ze anagazuja widza.
To ciekawa laurka dla tamtych czasów z świetna muzyka, która nikt wcześniej i nikt później nie powtórzy to historia, która mogła by się wydarzyć.
Film jako całość jest świetnie skonstruowany nie ma w nim co prawda zabawy z czasem jak w Pulp Fiction, ale jest wiele smaczków w które w czasie oglądania koronuje kino jakie znamy.
Polecam serdecznie jeśli jeszcze nie oglądaliście to dobry czas by przez 2,5 godziny cofnąć się w czasie i znaleźć się w gorącym Hollywood wśród gwiazd i poczuć najgorętszy dzień.
