I watched it so you don't have to watch it.
Spiral may seem like a good movie at first glance, with the return of the director who shot Saw 2 and 3, and a big budget like Samuel L. Jackosn and a comedian like Chris Rock.
Theoretically, this is already a recipe for success, and once again he drank his stepila. The first accusation is the main character played by Rock, who cannot speak normally and screams at everyone like a slightly deaf person.
The script here is written on my lap again, trying to get it all in one bag. The movie starts with one of the policemen being kidnapped by a Pigman (I don't know what to call this message) and then tied to a murderous platform to believe that he has to mutilate himself and tear his tongue out while on the subway and the train arrives.
Let me tell you that the trap is not bad, it was even designed in an interesting way, but the pigman's voice is comically absurd, which means that all the tension around this powerful scene is escaping.
The second drawback of the main character is the first scene with him, where he talks to criminals in pulp fiction style, and Leon, an embarrassingly poor jump scene where our hero turns out to be a slug.
The farther we look, we wonder if the detective has any sense or is just pretending to be deaf and shouting at everyone.
Moments later, he gets an associate of a detective who hugs young and seeks authority in our loud bihar.
Finding the corpse is just the beginning, because our detective receives a mysterious pendrive with a message (surprisingly, how technology has advanced) Each scene with Chris Rock is even embarrassingly exaggerated, it looks like our main character is trying to get 300 percent and all the rest that try not to listen.
The only scene where the main character is trying to speak normally is the wife of a guy who was killed by a train in the subway, and here it is the only scene well done without any flashy inserts.
As always, Samuel tries to give some of his humor and is the only guy who never gets old. When it comes to operating the camera, sometimes it is directed at a given character, sometimes in a completely different direction, so that the viewer cannot focus on the "plot".
The mystery of the detectives is difficult, because only our main character suspects something that may be wrong in Police. Remember saw 1 and the detective who was insane to find Jigsaw?
Well here we have Chris screaming while he can't be serious even for two minutes.
The police in this film are very delayed because they only collect evidence some time later as it turns out that John Krammer himself may be involved in the trash or someone is imitating him again.
A film shot with a dark filter that causes, if something happens in the evening, we must have our eyes stuck to the screen to deliver something. This is Chris Rock's first role in a non-comedy film and it's a plus that he tries to act something else, but he can't talk normally. Each subsequent scene is weaker.
Traps are better than Jigsaw, but it's far from making a good movie. the second trap is interesting in its own way, but the movie is so stupid that he would rather show a phone call than a Pigman and another victim.
It's a pity the director, he didn't know what he wanted, whether to show traps or a psychological portrait of a detective. He cannot combine these two things into one because the director goes to an extreme on the one hand, and in a moment to go to an extreme the other.
At a later time, we finally get the development of this trap, but the earlier scenes are so mixed up that watching this trap is ultimately not at all satisfactory.
The worst thing about this trap was that the victim had no way to escape from it, which contradicts the whole "Saw idea".
Detective being at the scene of the crime examines all clues like Sherlock Holmes and everyone asks for his opinion as if he had a whole file in his head.
The detective's assistant is acting like a shadow, here he will stand, there he mutters something in other words for 40 minutes he may have had three lines of text.
What was successful with the saw 2 or 3 here, unfortunately, does not work from the very beginning, the famous camera hovering over a given point or the very dark contrast of the film, unfortunately here they work to the disadvantage, it was supposed to be something new and it turned out very bad, although a bit better than with Jigsaw.
(Trailer)Is there a chance that a good movie from this series will be made one day?
Answer No, because those films had an intriguing atmosphere that the next parts tried to duplicate, but the further the darker the newest part tried to create something new based on the known scheme, but the finale is terribly weak (weaker than in Jigsaw), but still a bit here more is happening and the chronology of events is greater, and the viewer does not get lost and whether it is the future or the past.
The movie is bad, but it is because of the weak actors and the bad editing of the scenes that the script itself is interesting because it is new in its own way, but the rest of it is lying here and crying.
I rate the film on 4/10 because it is a bit better here, but far, to a good Thriller who would keep you in suspense until the end, there is also no final suspense that would shake the viewer. It's a pity because Darren Lynn Busman as a director created good 2 and 3 Saws here he wanted it very much and too much, it made it more of a parody of a movie, nothing like a movie that would keep you in suspense until the last second.
