time to pull your teeth out.
The Dentist is a movie that follows the convention of horror movies of the 90s. Today I did a second screening for this review. The film, despite 25 years, has not aged as much as the yesterday's The Ice Cream Man.
The Denstis has an intriguing story and it holds up reasonably well until the end. As for the special effects, they are well-made, and tooth extraction looks quite realistic.
The movie is more of a psychological thriller than a typical horror film.
(Trailer)The music here, unfortunately, quite strangely selected, once it is interesting, it intensifies the tension, and in a moment the music from The Thing movie becomes, which unfortunately spoiled the reception of the picture.
The script is done correctly, of course there are some plot gaps and shallow threads, but you can turn a blind eye to them during the screening.
The direction is also quite good, the actors, including the main character played by Corbin Bernsen as Dr Alan Feinston, played probably the best role in his career, you can see the combination of psychosis and manicism, and the director Brian Yuzna tried to add something intriguing to the work, the camera work is usually stable, less effects with zooming in on the character. Interestingly done offices on one side look normal to feel a strange fear in a moment.
Story.
The film tells about a valued denstist who is the best living with a beautiful wife, but stress causes him to have tantrums from time to time.
One day he sees his wife cheating on him with the gardener, this event changes Dr. Alan.
He decides to fix people's teeth in his macabre way.
Overall, the movie is very suspenseful and we do not expect the finale to be what it will be. It looks pretty good. I rate this film 7/10 because a lot is going on here and it's a better movie in terms of its plot, and the finale is intriguing.
