I watched The Power yesterday and I have to say that half of the film is great atmospheric horror.
The film begins in 1970s England, where there is an energy crisis so the power stations turn off the electricity at night to save supplies. A young girl is about to apply for a job at the local hospital when her credentials are in order and she is given a trial period, she gets the night shift but is unaware that something is lurking in the darkness.
Half the film does a great job of building the atmosphere and the ever-present darkness heightens the fear, but what works for half the film in the second half starts to go in a very bad direction, albeit understandably so.
Unfortunately in the second half of the film until the finale we get some elements that spoil the concept of a dark horror film shrouded in darkness, in favour of haunting. I understand the general idea of the director, that the possession here is an indicator of some important elements of the plot, but I expected something more sublime, and what I got was too flatly developed intrigue, which eventually leads us to the least expected person.

Ghosts often appear in movies and usually want to give something to the protagonist to solve the mystery and this is also the case in this movie, with a small exception the ghost first wants to destroy everyone and then wants to give a message which is mov o idiotic.
The very concept of the ghost's message as to why it haunts is very interesting as it leads to a man who was a murderer and paedophile. However, the middle part of the film loses a lot of its atmosphere, which makes it boring.
The first half of the film is sensational, full of atmosphere, and the scenes shrouded in darkness are masterful in giving the right tone to the film, but later when we find out that there is a ghost in the hospital the atmosphere starts to drop a little, and the possession itself does not inspire as much fear as the first half.
The film would be good if it was meticulous in what it does, but in this case we get a piece of cake from each film genre, which makes it hard to focus our thoughts and feel the atmosphere of this production.

Ayer vi El Poder y tengo que decir que la mitad de la película es un gran terror atmosférico.
La película comienza en la Inglaterra de los años 70, donde hay una crisis energética, por lo que las centrales eléctricas apagan la electricidad por la noche para ahorrar suministros. Una joven está a punto de solicitar un trabajo en el hospital local cuando sus credenciales están en orden y le dan un periodo de prueba, consigue el turno de noche pero no es consciente de que algo le acecha en la oscuridad.
La mitad de la película construye la atmósfera de manera brillante y la oscuridad siempre presente aumenta el miedo, pero lo que funciona durante la mitad de la película en la segunda mitad comienza a ir en una dirección muy mala, aunque comprensible.
Desgraciadamente, en la segunda mitad de la película hasta el final nos encontramos con algunos elementos que estropean el concepto de una película de terror envuelta en la oscuridad, a favor del embrujo. Entiendo la idea general del director, que la posesión aquí es un indicador de algunos elementos importantes de la trama, pero esperaba algo más sublime, y lo que obtuve fue una intriga demasiado plana desarrollada, que finalmente nos lleva a la persona menos esperada.

Los fantasmas suelen aparecer en las películas y normalmente quieren dar algo al protagonista para resolver el misterio y esto también ocurre en esta película, con una pequeña excepción el fantasma primero quiere destruir a todo el mundo y luego quiere dar un mensaje que es mov o idiota.
El propio concepto del mensaje del fantasma sobre el motivo por el que persigue es muy interesante, ya que conduce a un hombre que fue asesino y pedófilo. Sin embargo, la parte media de la película pierde mucho de su atmósfera, lo que la hace aburrida.
La primera mitad de la película es sensacional, llena de atmósfera, y las escenas envueltas en la oscuridad son magistrales para dar el tono adecuado a la película, pero más adelante, cuando descubrimos que hay un fantasma en el hospital, la atmósfera empieza a decaer un poco, y la posesión en sí no inspira tanto miedo como la primera mitad.
La película sería buena si fuera meticulosa en lo que hace, pero en este caso recibimos un trozo de pastel de cada género cinematográfico, lo que hace difícil centrar nuestros pensamientos y sentir la atmósfera de esta producción.

Wczoraj obejrzałem film The Power i muszę przyznać, ze połowa filmu to świetny klimatyczny horror.
Film rozpoczyna się w latach 70 w Anglii gdzie panuje kryzys energetyczny wiec elektrownie wyłączają w nocy prąd by oszczędzać zapas. Młoda dziewczyna właśnie stara się o etat w miejscowym szpitalu, kiedy jej referencje są w porządku i otrzymuje czas próbny, dostaje nocna zmianę, nie wie jednak, ze w mroku coś się czai.
Połowa film świetnie buduje klimat, a wszechobecna ciemność potęguje strach, jednak to co działa przez polowe filmu w drugiej zaczyna iść w bardzo złym kierunku, choć w zrozumiałym.
Niestety w drugiej części filmu aż do finału dostajemy pewne elementy, które psuja koncept mrocznego horroru owianego ciemnością, na rzecz nawiedzenia. Ja rozumiem ogólny zamysł reżysera, który opętanie tutaj jest wyznacznikiem pewnych ważnych elementów fabuły, jednak spodziewałem się czegoś bardziej wysublimowanego, a dostałem zbyt płasko rozwinięta intrygę, która ostatecznie prowadzi nas do najmniej spodziewanej osoby.

Duchy w filmach często występują i zazwyczaj chcą przekazać coś bohaterowi by rozwiązał zagadkę i tak jest i w tym filmie, z małym wyjątkiem duch pierw chce wszystkich zniszczyć a następnie chce przekazać wiadomość co jest mov o idiotyczne.
Sam koncept wiadomości ducha dlaczego nawiedza jest bardzo ciekawy gdyż prowadzi to do człowieka który był morderca i pedofilem. Niemniej, jednak środkowa cześć filmu mocno traci na klimacie przez to nudzi.
Film miał pomysł na siebie pierwsza połowa rewelacyjna pełna klimatu, a sceny owiane ciemnością wręcz mistrzowsko nadają odpowiedni ton wymowy temu filmowi, jednak później kiedy dowiadujemy się ze w szpitalu jest duch to trochę zaczyna spadać klimat a samo opętanie nie budzi takiego strachu jak pierwsza połowa.
Film byłby dobry gdyby był skrupulatny w tym co robi, a tak to dostajemy po kawałku tortu z każdego gatunku filmowego przez to ciężko skupić nam myśli i wczuć się w klimat tej produkcji.
