It is only every once in a while that you run into a decent series especially if it coming from own soil. From a while back the Belgian series ‘Undercover’ was one of these series which was a total hit here, but also because it was super fun, intriguing and every now and then hilarious to watch. But after that there was a while of nothing, I guess this also has something to do with the covid time and that there were not so many options to record new series.
So I was really surprised that only last week the new Belgian series called ‘Knokke off’ was there and booming! This series is about the village at the Bel sea called Knokke which is actually a notorious posh kind of time. They like to refer to themselves as the Ibiza or Marbella from Belgium and that comes with the amount of beach clubs and restaurants and posh kind of people in there. Kind of a bummer actually because the beach and the dunes are actually beautiful.

So the series is about a boy called Daan who is staying with his mom over the summer in a caravan in Knokke. Already from the start you can notice that Daan is not really a fan of the whole process of staying at the camping, and you can also notice that his mom also is having some kind of double motive in there.
Daan is also trying to integrate in the town, trying to make new friends who are the rich kids with all of their own problems. He is trying to become friends with the local son of the boss called Alex and his girlfriend Louise and their friends. All off these friends have their own territory in there which they are trying to piss off and also they are very cautious of new people ‘who actually are working…that can’t be good’.
You can also see that they are the kids from also rich parents with also their own troubles and weirdnesses and that is awesome. Booze, drugs and affairs amongst the whole timeline were actually super hilarious but also kind of sad to see that probably in some families this actually is the whole truth.
‘Knokke off’ is really a series to watch if you ask me. It is available on Netflix and it is spoken in Belgian/Dutch language but also has subtitles in there.
