Every now and then you run into these series or mini series which just grab you. It rains outside, it is comfortable inside. You don't really feel like doing anything else. So why not be a couch potato, go for it, grab a bag of chips and binge like a madman.
I think this is what happened in the previous weekend to me with this series. It started and I stopped when it ended.
The Golden Hour is a Dutch series which orginal name is 'het Gouden Uur' (which is the literal translation of the golden hour actually) and it refers to everything that happens in the first hour after a terrorist attack.
With main character Nasrdin Dchar (who you can also know from the other Dutch serie 'Mocro Maffia' where he plays the character of 'Potlood' a criminal nerd caught up in the Amsterdam underworld of drugs) the series already has a good start, because this guy knows what he is doing to catch your attention.
## The plot
Don't read any further if you don't want spoilers, but surely I will put some of them here
Main character Mardik is just living his life as a cop in Amsterdam with his wife and kid while working at the Amsterdam police force when his Afghan past is catching up on him. A terrorist attack in the city which feels connected to his roots consumes him where he also starts making stupid and radical decisions, because Mardik truly feels that he is the only one who understands what is actually going on and how he can stop it.
The good thing about the serie is the pace which it has. It doesn't feel slow and all the time it feels like you want to know what will happen. That isn't easy to get that done in this time. Also I really like how they have set the scene that it feels very real.
Yes the series is in Dutch, and I also don't really know if it is available in every country. You can catch it on Netflix. But having the serie in Dutch and having English subtitles underneith would surely be enough for everyone to understand.
I like it how the series grasps you, how you get annoyed by the characters (which in general means that it the acting is done really well) and also that the ending is open. On the other hand it would also have been cool if this was just one season in a miniseries and it would have been done.
But the ending is open and I guess the series will be a success here. Will that mean that there will be a season two? Who knows! I wouldn't mind for sure!
