International day of friendship is celebrated annually and worldwide on July 30 and so in line with the CineTV twitter prompt on friendship I decided on this review. When I think of friendship, fun, laughter and some craziness, I remember this hilarious movie, Girls Trip (2017).
Friendship is a unique type of relationship that is present in almost all other types of relationships. It speaks of connection, bond, love and loyalty. When two or more people are bound together by friendship, they go through life learning from each other and leaning on each other. With our friends, we can be our wildest selves and at the same time show our vulnerabilities, just like the ladies in this movie.
We see these qualities of friendship in this comedy starring Queen Latifah, Regina Hall, Jada Smith and Tiffany Haddish. These four ladies, aka the Flossy Posse, have been friends right from college. Life got in the way and they split up, each to her own life. One supposedly had all that life could offer, another was a struggling celebrity gossip blogger in debts, another was a struggling single mother with no time for fun except work and the fourth was single and unemployed.

This reconnection led to correcting some of the things that were going wrong in their lives. This is one of the pros of friendship —building up rather than tearing down.
Review
Girls Trip is a two-hour length movie and I was not bored for a single second. Every scene was well performed, gripping, hilarious and the cinematography was smooth. This movie celebrates female friendships, the importance of connecting and having a good time.
Cast chemistry is very important in determining the success of a movie and I think this movie hit the mark. Most likely the very reason why it was a success with lots of positive reviews. The chemistry between these interesting and talented actresses is superb such that a viewer would wish to go along with them on the trip.
I enjoyed how these ladies were honest, direct and loyal to each other regardless of their status. No need for subtlety, they say it as they see it. Note that this movie is r-rated with some sexual content and as such children should not be allowed to watch.
I commend the director, Malcolm D. Lee for an outstanding and humorous movie. It reminds me of Cyndi Lauper's song, Girls Just Want To Have Fun.
