Abigail (2024); I'm sold on this Cinderella Vampire theme.

Review by @kenechukwu97 · 814d · of Abigail

Very often in Western movies, children are always highlighted as angelic beings who are pure, harmless, and naive. This has never been a problem because that's what is expected of kids. We want them to be kind, fragile, pure, and every other angelic thing you can think of.

Well, I just watched an interesting Movie and the tagline for the Movie is "Children can be such monsters". That was enough to make me very curious about what this movie is all about. I got into it without going through any promotional material for the Movie. I didn't read the synopsis and I also didn't check the Movie trailer.

Let's get into a little highlight of what this movie is about;

Movie: Abigail

Genre: Horror, Thriller.

Release Date: April, 2024.

Runtime: 1h 49min

For what it's worth, this Movie is an interesting rollercoaster ride of thrilling horror and there are a lot of jump scare moments. Anyone who's already a fan of Movies that fall into this category will be spoilt for choice with the creativity poured into the horrifying scenes in this Movie. So, if you are ever considering adding this to your watchlist, I suggest you strap your boots and hold tight to your popcorn.

The show highlights a young girl who's a ballerina dancer. The opening sequence was a display of cinematic brilliance as the young lady was practicing her ballerina dance movies while there was a transition to a scene where a group of professional kidnappers were executing a kidnapping attempt. Both scenes got synced with a revelation that the kidnapping target was Abigail, our ballerina dancer.

The Kidnappers successfully pulled off the kidnapping attempt and went to a safe house where they just had to hold Abigail for 24 hours before getting the ransom. What each of the kidnappers didn't know was the identity of the girl they kidnapped. It turned out that Abigail was the 13-year-old daughter of a reputable underground figure.

Discovering Abigail's family background got each of the kidnappers rattled. Some were ready to step out of the job and forgo their share of the ransom. Others wanted to get through with it. However, what they didn't know was that Abigail wasn't just a fragile little kid who was under their custody. Nope, she is actually someone who deserves to be feared.

Not just because of her father's reputation. Nope...

I genuinely wish these folks didn't give away the "Ballerina Vampire" spoiler in this trailer. That would have been a very huge twist. So, if you're interested in watching this, I suggest you hold off on watching the trailer. Just watch the Movie and get back to the trailer when you are done. Hehe.

For those who already watched the trailer, how does it feel to see a Vampire Ballerina being a nightmare in a mansion filled with professional criminals? Haha. This show and the story are a breath of fresh air. I'm all in for the thrill and the adventure. This also gets into my highly recommendable Movie for all lovers of horror Movies.

Greetings @kenechukwu97, I liked your review, although I do not like this genre, I am curious, since it is about kidnappers then I want to see how he will take revenge on them.

  • I really want to see it and see how it goes, I've heard and read interesting things about it and it catches my attention. Fortunately I haven't seen the trailer and after what you say I don't plan to do it, many times they bring some nonsense spoilers.

I saw this movie last night and I was surprised, I closed my eyes at times because I didn't want to see more blood. I never imagined anything that happened. It happened to me like you, I started watching it without knowing anything about it and with what you see at the beginning I just thought it was action and it was a kidnapping gone wrong. But nothing of what happened.

Haha... this movie is lit! I had fun watching it as well. Gosh! Those fun moments of just shining my eyes to see what's next. It was truly remarkable, and I hope our horror movie, Madam @princessbusayo, has seen this gem!

    The movie rocks!

The dangerous children argument is preponderant. It draws attention to being different or different.
