You know what? The Kdramas that have made it to my watchlist this year so far have all been unique in their way. I've seen a whole lot of them and a whole lot of them whetted my appetite for one reason or another. In today's post, I will be reviewing a Kdrama that blew my mind with the smoothness of its dialogue.
There are two Kdramas like that which I'm yet to review, but in today's Kdrama review, all our attention will be on Payback: Money and Power. Brace yourself!

When I read the synopsis for this show, I noticed it would be something about business and crime. To be more exact, it is a drama about stock trading and the laws surrounding it in South Korea. Immediately I read that, my mind screamed "Sign me up already!" Haha.
I enjoy watching these sort of stories because it helps me learn more about international finance. In addition to that, I got to pick up some concepts which I did further research on. It was worth watching and I reckon even an ordinary viewer who doesn't know much about stock trading would surely learn a thing or two while watching this.
I added this Kdrama to my watchlist because of what I read in the synopsis, but immediately the episodes started unfolding, the dialogue between the characters made me completely fall deeper in love with the whole show.
The wordplays were electrifying and each of them were sumptuously delivered by the characters. I think the writer took his time to script the dialogue. Even the threats were made with words that whetted my appetite for more.
Everything was going all smooth and steady and the time-jump in the story blended with flashbacks, enabled viewers to get the backstory of the characters. But before we came halfway into the show, things got forced into a chaotic hell. It became a harsh and vicious battle for wealth. All hell went loose.
Boy, was I ready for that transition?
That was when it became obvious that this war of money, power, strategy and improvision is going to get nasty and daunting. It was a clash of cash but the unfolding events made it obvious that money wasn't enough. You need money, power, flexible strategy, impregnable team. Stuff like that.
I can think of only a few scenes where there was any sort of physical combat, yet I enjoyed every bit of this show to a tee. The thrill was too much to soak in. I found myself screaming like crazy. Haha.
As far as I can tell, this Kdrama offers 'only' 12 episodes to viewers. I wish there was more, but I get it. It's better to get 12 solid and compact episodes with direct storylines instead of 20 episodes with loose, boring and elongated storylines.
The actors are all amazing. I can't wait to see them in other Kdrama projects.
