To be honest, these are the kind of movies I love to watch, fantasy, action, adventure and mythology. I was in my early years in the higher institution when this movie was first released and I loved every bit of it. A friend was talking about it yesterday and since I was home all day today I decided to watch it. I had even forgotten a lot of the things that happened until I watched it again, and if I must confess, it was a great watch, it was just a shame that the part two we expected never really came out because this movie deserved one. I also feel it was rushed at the end of the day, there were a lot of times when I think some scenes needed a bit more explanation or more context but seemed they wanted to just do everything in one movie. I mean this is history, It should be given a chance to breathe and live again even though it is also fantasy.
The movie showed how life was (or would be) when gods lived among men and how they actually ruled the world. These times there were no kings, the kings and rulers are the gods themselves. Osiris (the god of light) was king in the beginning and was about to hand over to his son Horus. But then during the ceremony, Osiri’s brother Seth (the god of darkness and chaos) decided to attack, killing his brother and brutally injuring Horus and even removing his eyes and leaving him powerless. That battle destroyed Horus' pride and really humbled him and to be honest, I felt sorry for him in the beginning because his uncle was really brutal.
The story takes a U-turn when a mortal who happened to be a thief called Bek decided to help Horus by stealing his eyes from the vault Set put it in so he could save the life of his girlfriend. To me Bek was the real protagonist in this movie, although reckless and powerless, he had guts. Although Bek was only able to steal one of Horus’s eyes, it was enough for them to begin an adventure that would change both their lives forever. Imagine a mortal and a god who had lost half his power facing a god who had spent years building his power. The fight was an epic one, but like I said, there are things I still wish they had done better, especially with the storyline.
