I finally watched Hope after days of waiting for it to be uploaded on a reachable website or app. You know, it's not yet available in many countries. I must say, it's worth the hype it has been getting. But why does this kind of movie always end with the anticipation of another part? I hope a second part will ever get produced and released.
In a small village in the outskirts of the state, news begins to spread of strange occurrences involving the massive destruction of buildings and the slaughtering of both animals and humans. "What could have done this?" the sheriff and the hunters in the village ask, as they keep observing the brutal tearing apart of animal bodies. Just when they want to conclude that it's the handiwork of a tiger, the torn human bodies, the strange footsteps imprinted in blood on the floor, and the massive destruction of buildings change their minds. With guns in their hands, loaded to the brim, they spread out to look for what is responsible for the ordeal.
Beom Seok, the chief sheriff, while driving to the station, has to stop along the way when he sees a spot that gives him the impression that the cause of the destruction could be there. He picks up his big gun and goes into the destroyed houses.
"Jurassic World?" He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw cars, motorcycles, and houses being thrown around by a giant from afar.
I'm not so much a fan of alien movies, especially the ones that come with great technological machines and lots of iron. But this one stands a bit differently. The aliens are natural and, at the same time, supernatural. I mean, they are not wired with electronics, and that makes them very unique and realistic. Although some of the scenes involving the aliens appear to rely heavily on graphic effects, especially when the sheriff's officers were chasing the first creature seen destroying the city.
Also, I know most of the demolished scenes are CGI effects, but hey, the scenes are outstanding. If, by any means, they're not CGI effects, then the production must have put in a lot of resources to have demolished an entire community for production purposes.
The storyline is so captivating. The idea of portraying the aliens as creatures that didn't just appear on Earth but came through a spaceship is very applaudable. It gives the impression that aliens truly exist somewhere and that they might come to Earth one day. And maybe, who knows, they're somewhere on Earth already, just as we once saw a trending video of an alien in the northern part of Nigeria. Oh yeah, the scenes are relatable, and I can't help but compare them.
I love how the movie wasn't made with too many characters. Everyone in the jungle who died in the process of hunting down the creatures had a fairly recognizable face before their death. The actors played their characters well, especially with the occasional humour chipped into the seriousness of the movie.
