¡Hola queridos usuarios de Hive ✨💕!
Hi dear Hive users ✨💕!

¿Controversial no?

Controversial, isn't it? 🤭🤭, something that my sister and I have enjoyed a lot for years is watching television, we acquired this taste thanks to the countless Venezuelan soap operas that were produced when we were younger, coincidentally one of the stories that I remember the most because of its theme and the age I was when I saw it (just 2 years old) is precisely The Wife of Judas, initially it scared me a lot (I blame my sister for this) but years later when I was a teenager I saw it again and I enjoyed it a lot 🤭🤣, a few weeks ago I rewatched it on Youtube and I thought it was time to bring you this review, so today we will talk about The Wife of Judas 👰🏻‍♀️.

However, in the midst of much commotion, Altagracia, who was planning to marry her fiancé Julián Morera (Juan Carlos Gardié) that day, is dragged out of the church wearing a bloody wedding dress, and is accused of the father's murder, thus being christened The Wife of Judas.

The whole story takes place in the colonial area of Carora and the vineyards are located on the outskirts of the city, so much of the scenery shows the landscapes of this area and wine is an element of great importance in the whole plot. The novel is full of mystery and blood 🤣🤣, and something characteristic of this story is precisely that much of the cast dies 🤣🤣🤣, there are supernatural elements (and I think this is not a spoiler I do not know 🤔) not only with the presence of the ghost of Father Sebastian, but also for many other scenes that can become even disturbing, even so the novel is not loaded with terror and that's something that since the second time I saw it (when I was already grown up) I liked it a lot because it makes the story interesting. If there is something that they took care of very well in this story, it was the symbolic elements, and we have sounds, like the song that is heard every time that Judas' wife appeared, the 30 silver coins as a mark of murder and others that after several chapters began to have an important meaning.

¿Tenemos romance?

Do we have romance? Obviously we have romance, but incredibly this is what matters the least in the plot, what really keeps you glued to the screen is to know first, who will be the next victim and second, who is hiding behind the mask of the Judas woman. And something you notice when you watch it for the second or third time, are all the signs that tell you who the killer was, everything always points to one person but obviously in these stories the culprit is always the one you least believe, so all this game of knowing the identity of this person is what leads you as a viewer to want to keep watching chapter after chapter, and that's exactly where the romance just becomes an added element, plus the main characters are quite toxic 🤣🤣, but we won't judge that because it's a novel from 2002, let's not ask too much in that section either 🤣🤣.

My favourite character is undoubtedly Altagracia del Toro, she had an excellent character construction, always with the right unfriendly answers, with zero intentions of being liked by the people around her, but with a great cunning and intelligence, so much to move all the pieces of the board at her whim and convenience, and it is precisely this character that makes me regret not having had the opportunity to see this story without knowing almost all the plot, because obviously when I saw her when I was older, I already knew many relevant things about her story, including its ending. On the other hand we have the two characters that I couldn't stand throughout the novel, and they were Alirio Agüero del Toro (Albi de Abreu) and Emma Brand Echenagucia (Mirela Mendoza), and I think all of us who have seen the novel know the reason for this. The character of Marcos Rojas Paúl (Luis Gerardo Núñez), although I didn't like him, I can't say that I hated him either, I feel that he was to blame for many things and then he just wanted to show up with his face washed and ask for forgiveness, and we know that's not the case, he was also very intense and toxic, so he's definitely not my favourite.

And speaking of things that weren't my favourite, I must mention the ending, I've always felt that they didn't find another way to make that revelation and the only thing they could think of was to make the person himself decide to take off his mask, especially because nothing pointed to that person, that is, all the evidence that the police had obtained pointed to other people except the real culprit, so that's why I've always thought that they simply didn't know how to close and that even at that time the triumph of the villains was not accepted 🤣🤣, obviously the revelation at the time was a big surprise, as I said nobody imagined that the true identity of Judas' wife was who she ended up being, and I completely understand because although the signs were always present, it was all a game well executed by the writer, and that's why this has become my favourite Venezuelan novel 💕.

Honestly there are scenes in this novela that still scare me (I'm super scared myself), but even so I always enjoy watching it, obviously there are actions and small plots of the characters that seem super absurd to me but I let them pass when I realise again the time in which this story was made. This novela has a version made in 2012 by Tv Azteca with the same name, however I have never seen it, my sister only saw the first chapter and I didn't like it so I haven't given it a chance, apart from the fact that I like my caroreño landscapes 🤣🤣. If you haven't seen this story yet, you can easily find it on Youtube, so you can go and give it a try 💕.
