Ahora que ando de vacaciones, aparte de escribir para Hive y hacer otros trabajos, también paso la mayor parte del tiempo viendo series y películas nuevas, no obstante la serie de la que vengo a hablarles hoy ya la había mencionado hace un tiempo en una publicación, solo que para ese entonces solo se había estrenado 1 temporada, y ya vamos por la tercera, así que justo por esa razón decidí dedicarle una publicación entera y así poder hablar con más profundidad de lo que hasta ahora me ha parecido la historia y del porque es una de mis series favoritas.
Now that I'm on holidays, apart from writing for Hive and doing other jobs, I also spend most of my time watching new series and movies, however the series I'm here to talk about today I had already mentioned it some time ago in a post, only that at that time only 1 season had been released, and we are already on the third, so just for that reason I decided to dedicate a whole post to it so I could talk in more depth about what I have found the story so far and why it is one of my favourite series.
La historia se centra en Devi Vishwakumar, una adolescente india-estadounidense que tras vivir un año marcado por una situación traumática que dejo varias secuelas en ella, decide iniciar un plan para convertirse en una de las chicas populares de su escuela, acompañada obviamente de sus amigas Eleanor y Fabiola. La serie del género de comedia se estrenó el 27 de Abril de 2020 en la plataforma de Netflix e inmediatamente se convirtió en un éxito, tanto así que fue renovada para una segunda temporada la cual fue estrenada el 15 de Julio de 2021 y posteriormente se concedió la tercera temporada, que recién acaba de ver la luz el pasado 12 de Agosto.
The story focuses on Devi Vishwakumar, an Indian-American teenager who, after living a year marked by a traumatic situation that left several sequels in her, decides to initiate a plan to become one of the popular girls in her school, obviously accompanied by her friends Eleanor and Fabiola. The comedy series premiered on 27 April 2020 on the Netflix platform and immediately became a success, so much so that it was renewed for a second season, which was released on 15 July 2021, and was subsequently granted a third season, which has just seen the light of day on 12 August.
La serie esta renovada para una cuarta y última temporada y honestamente es una excelente noticia, y es que una de las cosas que me gusta de la serie es como han sabido llevar la historia, el ritmo con el que han jugado les ha sentado e maravilla y eso justo hace que en ningún momento la historia se sienta pesada o aburrida, todas sus temporadas han contado con 10 episodios que no exceden los 30 min y es eso hace que la serie sea muy ligera de ver, aunque resulta contraproducente cuando pasas un año esperando la nueva temporada y te la acabas en un día 🤣🤣, pero eso es harina de otro costal.
The series has been renewed for a fourth and final season and honestly it is excellent news, and one of the things I like about the series is how they have managed to carry the story, the pace with which they have played has suited them wonderfully and that just makes the story never feels heavy or boring, all their seasons have had 10 episodes that do not exceed 30 min and that makes the series very light to watch, although it is counterproductive when you spend a year waiting for the new season and you finish it in one day 🤣🤣, but that's another matter.
El personaje de Devi es maravilloso en muchos aspectos, sí al inicio de la serie ella está completamente desequilibrada emocionalmente, pero eso resulta tan humano y real que es lo que la hace interesante desde el inicio, es una chica desenfrenada que anda por la vida pateando botes de basura cuando se siente frustrada y que tiene una mamá que realmente está presente en su vida y en la historia, y hago referencia a esto porque ¿en cuántas series de adolescentes los papás forman parte de la historia y no solo están de elemento decorativo?, y sé que suena un tanto brusca la observación pero es que honestamente son estos detalles, que pueden parecer pequeños pero que hacen que la serie destaque del resto y se convierta en un éxito.
Devi's character is wonderful in many ways, yes at the beginning of the series she is completely emotionally unbalanced, but that is so human and real that is what makes her interesting from the beginning, she is an unrestrained girl who goes through life kicking bins when she feels frustrated and she has a mother who is really present in her life and in the story, and I make reference to this because in how many teen series are the parents part of the story and not just a decorative element? and I know it sounds a bit blunt, but honestly it is these details, which may seem small, that make the series stand out from the rest and become a success.
Uno de los aspectos que me ha cautivado desde el inicio y que en la última temporada me dejo completamente flechada, ha sido la evolución y crecimiento de Devi, una chica que tuvo que atravesar por el trauma de ver como de un momento a otro su padre moría de un infarto frente a ella y como ahora ella debía lidiar con toda esta situación, la perdida y el duelo es algo que caracterizo a este personaje y la forma en como reflejaron todo este proceso a lo largo de las temporadas, empezando por la profunda ira y finalizando por la aceptación y superación, es algo que me cautivo profundamente dese el inicio sobre todo porque hacerlo desde la comedia en ningún momento le resto seriedad a lo que realmente significa enfrentarse a un proceso de duelo.
One of the aspects that has captivated me from the beginning, and that in the last season left me completely in love, has been the evolution and growth of Devi, a girl who had to go through the trauma of seeing her father die of a heart attack in front of her and how she now had to deal with the whole situation, The loss and grief is something that characterised this character and the way in which they reflected this whole process throughout the seasons, starting with the deep anger and ending with acceptance and overcoming, is something that captivated me deeply from the beginning, above all because doing it from the comedy at no time takes away the seriousness of what it really means to face a grieving process.
¿Equipo Paxton o equipo Ben?, honestamente yo siempre fui equipo Paxton, pese a todas las situaciones por las que tuvieron que atravesar, ambos de alguna forma lograban complementarse de hecho ambos se ayudaron a crecer, Devi le enseño a Paxton a creer en sus propias capacidades y dar su mayor esfuerzo en lo que se proponía, y Paxton ayudo a Devi a enfrentar sus propias inseguridades y miedos, no obstante para mi resulta bastante claro que Ben es el indicado para Devi, ambos se entienden en cuanto metas y sueños futuros, se quieren tal cual son y además seamos honestos el Enemies to Lover siempre es el que gana 🤣🤣, así que espero que para la cuarta temporada al fin nos den la relación amorosa que todos hemos esperado (que por cierto, el chico indio que aparece en esta última temporada, nunca me cuadro del todo así que me lo saltaré 🤣🤣).
Team Paxton or Team Ben? honestly I was always team Paxton, despite all the situations they had to go through, both somehow managed to complement each other in fact both helped each other to grow, Devi taught Paxton to believe in his own abilities and give his best effort in what he proposed, and Paxton helped Devi to face her own insecurities and fears, however for me it is quite clear that Ben is the right one for Devi, they both understand each other in terms of goals and future dreams, they love each other as they are and let's be honest Enemies to Lover is always the one who wins 🤣🤣, so I hope that for season 4 we finally get the love relationship we've all been waiting for (which by the way, the Indian guy that appears in this last season, I never really liked him so I'll skip him 🤣🤣).
Sin embargo, la relación de la cual siempre he sido fan, ha sido la de Devi y Nalini es decir la relación madre e hija, y es que esta relación LO ES TODO la evolución tan magnifica que han tenido desde la primera temporada hasta esta última me ha hecho incluso llorar, como dije últimamente es poco usual ver a los padres involucrados en las historias de series adolescentes, y en esta ocasión nos muestran una relación que esta fracturada desde hace tiempo pero que pese a esto logran acompañarse en su propio duelo y finalmente ir madurando hasta llegar al perdón mutuo, creo que este podría ser el factor clave del éxito de la serie, aparte obviamente que sea una historia de nerds para nerds lol.
However, the relationship of which I have always been a fan, has been that of Devi and Nalini that is to say the mother and daughter relationship, and this relationship IS EVERYTHING the evolution so magnificent that they have had from the first season to this last one has even made me cry, as I said lately it is unusual to see parents involved in the stories of teen series, and this time they show us a relationship that is fractured for a long time but despite this they manage to accompany each other in their own grief and finally go maturing to reach mutual forgiveness, I think this could be the key factor in the success of the series, apart obviously that it is a story of nerds for nerds lol.
Yo Nunca es una serie que realmente vale mucho la pena ver, es sumamente divertida, ligera, entretenida y que aporta un gran mensaje, la evolución de los personajes es increíble y aunque evidentemente hay drama, éste no dura más allá de dos o tres capítulos y eso justamente es lo que la hace agradable de ver. Es sin duda alguna una de mis series favoritas y puedo decir con éxito que también he logrado que sea la de mi hermana 🤭🤭.
Never Have I Ever is a series that is really worth watching, it is extremely funny, light, entertaining and has a great message, the evolution of the characters is incredible and although there is obviously drama, it doesn't last more than two or three episodes and that's exactly what makes it enjoyable to watch. It is undoubtedly one of my favourite series and I can successfully say that I have also managed to make it my sister's 🤭🤭.
