La cuarta temporada de Yo Nunca al fin salió, y si me conoces desde hace tiempo sabrán que ésta es una de mis series favoritas de Netflix, así que claramente en cuanto salió tuve que verla inmediatamente y traerles el día de hoy mi opinión al respecto, aunque realmente la parte de traerles la opinión era algo de segundo lugar 🤣, lo que principalmente me llevo a verla en cuanto se estrenó fue la emoción de ver culminar una de las historias que para mí ha sido la mejor construida. Así que realmente no diré más nada, porque la emoción que tengo por contarles ésta temporada puede más 🤣✨.
The fourth season of Never Have I Ever is finally out, and if you've known me for a long time you know that this is one of my favourite Netflix series, so clearly as soon as it came out I had to watch it immediately and bring you today my opinion about it, although really the part of bringing you the opinion was something of second place 🤣, what mainly led me to watch it as soon as it premiered was the excitement of seeing the culmination of one of the stories that for me has been the best built. So I won't really say anything else, because the excitement I have to tell you about this season is stronger 🤣✨.
La temporada se estrenó el pasado 8 de Junio del año en curso para la plataforma de streming Netflix, marcando así el cuarto año consecutivo de estrenos de temporadas. Nuevamente nos encontramos con nuestra amiga indio-estadounidense Devi Vishwakumar, quien está próxima a comenzar el que será su último año de instituto, lo cual traerá consigo el tan anhelado momento para Devi de aplicar a la universidad de sus sueños: La Universidad de Princeton, sin embargo antes de llegar a ese momento y antes de decir oficialmente adiós, primero debe atravesar por diversas situaciones y tomar varias decisiones que marcarán éste último año como el mejor o como el peor, para ello obviamente contará con la presencia de su familia y de sus amigas Fabiola y Eleanor ✨.
The season premiered on June 8 this year on the Netflix streaming platform, marking the fourth consecutive year of season premieres. Once again we meet our Indian-American friend Devi Vishwakumar, who is about to begin her senior year of high school, which will bring with it the long-awaited moment for Devi to apply to her dream college: Princeton University, however before reaching that moment and before officially saying goodbye, she must first go through various situations and make several decisions that will mark this last year as the best or the worst, for this she will obviously count on the presence of her family and her friends Fabiola and Eleanor ✨.
Empecemos justo donde terminó la temporada pasada, así como literalmente hizo la serie, ¿Equipo Paxton o Equipo Ben? 🤣🤣, si leyeron la publicación que hice hace casi un año sobre la temporada pasada sabrán cual es mi posición al respecto, claramente fuí y seré para siempre equipo Paxton, pero desde hace mucho acepte que el camino de Devi iba dirigido hacia otra persona y eso lo dejaron claro en el último episodio de la temporada pasada, sin embargo algo que siempre ha caracterizado a Ben y la razón por la que nunca fuí de su equipo, ha sido todo el drama que genera a causa de su indecisión e inseguro, y justamente eso pasó a lo largo de los capítulos de ésta nueva temporada, aunque vemos una versión de él más madura en comparación al Ben de la primera temporada, si resulta un tanto frustrante muchas de las situaciones que él genera o muchos de los comentarios que dice, como amigo realmente es de los mejores y en éste sentido la interacciones que tiene con Devi realmente son muy buenas, constantemente la apoya y anima en los diversos obstáculos que se le presentan, pero como interés amoroso a mí sí me deja algo a deber 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️.
Let's start right where last season ended, as well as literally did the series, Team Paxton or Team Ben? 🤣🤣, if you read the post I did almost a year ago about last season you will know where I stand on this, clearly I was and will always be team Paxton, but I have long accepted that Devi's path was headed for someone else and that was made clear in the last episode of last season, however something that has always characterized Ben and the reason why I was never on his team, has been all the drama he generates because of his indecisiveness and insecurities, And just that happened throughout the episodes of this new season, although we see a more mature version of him compared to the Ben of the first season, if it is somewhat frustrating many of the situations that he generates or many of the comments he says, As a friend he really is one of the best and in this sense the interactions he has with Devi are really good, he constantly supports her and encourages her in the various obstacles she faces, but as a love interest he leaves me somewhat to owe 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️.
Y es por esa razón que yo siempre apoye el shipp Daxton (Devi y Paxton), porque a pesar de todos los errores que él cometió en temporadas pasadas, cuando se decidió por Devi lo hizo de la forma más segura que pudo, aún así en ésta temporada trabajaron en darle fin a ese interés amoroso de Devi y dejar una linda amistad entre ellos dos. Que justamente hablando de Paxton, puedo decir que fue de los personajes con mejor arco dramático, desde la primera temporada a ésta vimos una gran evolución de su personaje, un chico que pasó de ser el rey de su escuela a estar super inseguro de sus decisiones y de su entorno, y aunque en ésta temporada realmente tiene poca participación, la verdad es que le dieron una excelente conclusión a su personaje, excepto su último interés amoroso, creo que pudieron saltarse esa parte y habría sido un excelente final 😌😌.
And it is for that reason that I always support the shipp Daxton (Devi and Paxton), because despite all the mistakes he made in past seasons, when he decided for Devi he did it in the safest way he could, even so in this season they worked on ending Devi's love interest and leaving a nice friendship between the two of them. Just talking about Paxton, I can say that he was one of the characters with the best dramatic arc, from the first season to this one we saw a great evolution of his character, a boy who went from being the king of his school to being super insecure about his decisions and his environment, and although in this season he really has little participation, the truth is that they gave an excellent conclusion to his character, except his last love interest, I think they could have skipped that part and it would have been an excellent ending 😌😌.
Ahora bien, ¿Qué tal las cosas con nuestra adolescente favorita? 🤣, como ya lo he dicho en reiteradas ocasiones, una de las razones por la que ésta serie es tan buena se debe a su protagonista, éste sí es un verdadero ejemplo de lo que es una adolescente, si recordamos Devi era una chica desenfrenada e impulsiva que conforme transcurrían las temporadas iba creciendo y madurando al punto de convertirse en la Devi de la cuarta temporada, una chica que ya no temía pedir perdón ante sus equivocaciones y que sabía cuando era momento de soltar y no aferrarse a ciertas situaciones, ejemplo perfecto cuando se dió cuenta que este nuevo chico Ethan no le convenía y de la forma más sana decidió terminar con él, que honestamente creo que la incorporación de éste chico fue innecesaria 🤷🏻♀️ pero no me centraré en eso. Hay un aspecto súper relevante de ésta temporada que me hizo conectar muchísimo con Devi, y fue todo el asunto con la universidad, y es que algo parecido me paso a mi cuando ingresé a la universidad, y ver todo por lo que ella pasó, cómo se sentía y como ya estaba harta de los comentarios de "todo va a estar bien", me hizo recordar que yo me sentí exactamente igual en ese tiempo y que increíble que al fin una serie nos muestre eso porque creo que hasta ahora ninguna lo había hecho o al menos no de la forma en cómo ésta temporada lo transmitió.
Now, how are things going with our favourite teenager? 🤣, as I have said many times, one of the reasons why this series is so good is because of its main character, this is a true example of what a teenager is, if we remember Devi was an unbridled and impulsive girl that as the seasons went by was growing and maturing to the point of becoming the Devi of the fourth season, a girl who was no longer afraid to apologize for her mistakes and who knew when it was time to let go and not cling to certain situations, perfect example when she realized that this new guy Ethan did not suit her and in the healthiest way decided to end it, I honestly think that the addition of this guy was unnecessary 🤷🏻♀️ but I will not focus on that. There is a super relevant aspect of this season that made me connect a lot with Devi, and it was the whole thing with the university, and is that something similar happened to me when I entered the university, and seeing everything she went through, how she felt and how she was fed up with the comments of "everything will be fine", made me remember that I felt exactly the same at that time and how incredible that finally a series shows us that because I think that until now none had done it or at least not in the way this season conveyed it.
Aunque la temporada en general me encantó, si hubo dos detalles que me sacaron un poco de onda, el primero fue Kamala, o sea ¿Que pasó con ella, las temporadas anteriores el personaje de Kamala había tenido mucha relevancia y en ésta siento que se perdió un poco de su protagonismo, aparece muy poco y su historia no la terminan de explicar, siento que ella era un elemento relevante en toda la trama y sencillamente desapareció un poco, de hecho al final se menciona un poco éste lazo de hermandad entre Devi y ella, y que ciertamente se podía percibir en las temporadas anteriores y que en ésta simplemente se perdió. Al igual que se perdió un poco del avance que teníamos entre Devi y su mamá, que aunque claramente no regresamos a como era en las primeras temporadas, si noté que regresó un poco la desconfianza y las recriminaciones por parte de Nalini hacía Devi, aunque al final se ven un poco justificadas y como mencioné la relación sigue siendo fluida y empática, también es cierto que luego de toda la evolución que hubo en la temporada 3, para ésta cuarta entrega me esperé mucho mas.
Although I loved the season in general, there were two details that got me a bit out of the loop, the first was Kamala, I mean what happened to her, Kamala's character had had a lot of relevance in previous seasons and in this one I feel that she lost a bit of her prominence, I feel that she was a relevant element in the whole plot and she simply disappeared a little bit, in fact at the end there is a little mention of this bond of sisterhood between Devi and her, and that certainly could be perceived in the previous seasons and that in this one was simply lost. Just as it lost a little of the progress we had between Devi and her mother, that although clearly not back to how it was in the first seasons, if I noticed that returned a little distrust and recriminations by Nalini to Devi, although in the end they are a little justified and as I mentioned the relationship is still fluid and empathetic, it is also true that after all the evolution that was in season 3, for this fourth installment I expected much more.
