I, Tonya, narrates in the real story of the controversial figure skater of the 90s, Tonya Harding (Margot Robbie). It's a dark comedy with a lot of mature content. Harding is abused by her mother and her boyfriend / husband; the scenes of abuse are represented realistically and have an intense emotional impact.

There is also a strong and pervasive language ("f--k," "s--t," and more), some sexuality (including strip-club nudity), and drug use and smoking, sometimes by world-class athletes .
