The Lego Ninjago Movie is based on the funny, popular, action-packed TV show about Lego ninjas. In this adventure, teenage warrior Lloyd (voiced by Dave Franco) must save his beloved land of Ninjago from evil warlord Garmadon (Justin Theroux), who just happens to be his father. With the help of his five friends/fellow ninjas and under the guidance of Sensei Wu (Jackie Chan), Lloyd sets out to defeat his bad-guy dad. Lego is a major brand for kids, so expect plenty of marketing tie-ins, but previous Lego movies have done of good job of making sure the films were fun and entertaining, rather than just a giant toy commercial. Expect bloodless action/fighting and possibly some crude humor.
The film is directed by Charlie Bean, Paul Fisher, and Bob Logan. Bean is a director focused on animation, he comes from directing several children's series such as "Robotboy" (2005) and "TRON: Uprising" (2012). Fisher, meanwhile, comes from working in the fashion world, is the least experienced of the three and all we know is that he participated as a producer on the talent-show "Remodeled" (2012). Logan began his career in the late 1980's. His first film was the romantic comedy "Up Your Alley" (1989). After this title he directed "Repossessed" (1990), parody of the famous horror film "The Exorcist" (1973) that also starred Linda Blair, this time, next to Leslie Nielsenque. Logan also directed the children's film "Meatballs 4" (19992), the TV movie "Count DeClues" Mystery Castle "(1994) and the romantic comedy" Yard Sale "(2004).
WHAT'S THE STORY? Six young ninjas Lloyd, Jay, Kai, Cole, Zane and Nya are tasked with defending their island home, called Ninjago. By night, they're gifted warriors, using their skills and awesome fleet of vehicles to fight villains and monsters. By day, they're ordinary teens struggling against their greatest enemy: high school.
